A Time For Prayer

Holy Ser Raigeki Kato walks across the blood stained snow of what was once an active battlefield not long ago. He keeps his head up high - he dared not let his subordinates see him weep at the sight of his fallen brothers. A sadness filled his heart, even upon the sight of the slain Ruskans. As he walks, Poor Fellow Soldiers slowly rise. Their armour is stained with blood and many look no different from the dead on the ground. Raigeki himself did not look too well either. He slowly raises his arms and beckons the survivors to gather with him.

"My brothahs..." He begins, taking a deep inhale. He wheezes having trouble speaking but after a few moments he finally exhales and begins. "My brothahs...We must admit coming into this battle we may have doubted ourselves. Some of us questioned who the Creator would favor and others questioned if our Grand Mastah had what it took to pull this off..."

He pauses, looking about the field. Despite the victory, there was no time to celebrate for little could celebrate. He sighs, continuing.

"Not many of you know this, but this all started once on our way to the Old Cloud Temple one day when bandits threatened our lives. It is my personal belief that men of the faith and those who may have nevah had the opportunity to learn of the Creator would all defend themselves if their lives were threatened. Do not considah me warmongering man. Considah me a man who defends himself and those he loves. Most importantly one who defends the Creator and will stand at his side when he calls upon me."

Raigeki cups his mouth and wheezes, staggering forward. Sergeant Saeros, a 'humanized-elf' who converted to the True Faith reaches out to hold Raigeki up, supporting him.

"Thank you, brothah...." He nods to Saeros. "What we thought was a defense against bandits became a full scale war between people of Oren. There are those who have sided with the bandits. There are others who has twisted and tugged on the story so much they have turned this into a religious war at one point. And then into a political war. Now I do not know why they wish harm on us."

He looks up to the sky. The sun was rising, casting its light down upon the battlefield. Raigeki keeps focused on his men, his stomach feeling uneasy.

"I pray everyday God forgives us. Mankind was nevah meant to kill eachothah, especially those of the Faith. I cannot fathom what I will tell him when we meet again in the Seven Skies. He might ask me if this was all worth it. He might say I did not enforce the commandments he spoke to Horen many years ago. And God is never wrong, let me make that clear to you, my brothahs."

He looks about him, staring into each of their eyes. "Now I ask that we pray. For those who have fallen on both sides and so that the Creator might forgive us for our prideful ways. Let them find peace in the Seven Skies and let us strive for a brightah tomorrow."

Raigeki, the easterner with a napoleon complex, bows his head humbly. The other surviving Lucienists join in and they begin to pray...

"Deus Magnus" Grand Commander Voron sais as he limps foward, viewing the bloody aftermath blade in hand. His shin was shot by an arrow, however he was being supported by Brother Liam. "The Creator chose us in our time of need instead of the Flotsomites- a blessing the Free People of Flotsam desired to have for themselves; however we were the chosen men-.... Deus Vult!" He shouts, echoed by the shouts of many more Lucienists. He continues limping with the aid of his brothers.

Pyotr hurries about, tending to the wounded sovets as best he can. The groans of the dying makes him shiver, as he remembers the ghoul that waylaid him early that week... He says his blessings over a dying man, that his suffering may be relieved in the Seven Skies Above.

"Godan, would it please you I would curse these men who slaughter so many innocent! But it is ney pleasing. Vladislav would have us fight, and did we not fight we would be killed by those who would have conformity to their vision of Oren. Since old days of Raev it has always been us accosted and assaulted first, without bounds. And it has always been us to stand up and fight for Divine and Worldly Lord, to defend out homes and loved ones. You do not test of Godan, so we Borsa of Faith tell one another. Though if you did, we Ruskans would not faith. May these false crusaders slay our men-folk again, do what they will to our women, and steal our children for themselves! Whatever may beset our faithful, we will not fail you Godan. May our faith ney fail. For this I pray..."

Saeros kneels over a fallen brother, an angry and confused look on his face as he holds the body upright.

" How many more must die? " he then says a prayer for the fallen comrade before allowing the body to be carted off.

Faiz's younger brother, Jad Kharadeen, slouches over Faiz's body. He lets his bloodied sword fall to the ground, killing enough strelts for the day. He lifts Faiz up over his shoulder and carries him off to the cloud temple to be healed by monks.

As Faiz is healed, he asks his younger brother what had happened. He fills him in that Luciens were victorious in the battle, but at the cost of many lives. He shakes his head in disappointment, then speaks a prayer within his foreign tongue, his younger brother doing the same.

"This war will end soon, and both sides will learn how meaningless it is to fight when the cost of it is your own brothers and sisters."
