Why is it a perk? For what? Why should it be a "Reward"? ET could do what they do even without fly, vanish and godmode.

I can tell you that all of these are necessities when operating events, especially on a large scale. Fly and vanish especially as they help us scout around and look for groups of players we can draw in. Without that power it would take much longer finding a target audience for our players. Fly and vanish are also useful for moving quickly to a point where we have been requested to play a beast for a hunt or other requested activity. I've had to do that several times. Vanish helps distinguish when a player should be interacting with the character and when they should be interacting with something else. It can be confusing if we're visible to the general public during an event because they can find it hard to distinguish where their focus should be. Godmode has helped me personally countless times in events where my character is required for exposition but I come under attack by Scourge forces. As one of the people who usually operates Golden Lance events, my character is a big factor in driving the story and providing explanation, lore, and guidance. Without it, as many other ET members will laughingly agree, I'm very prone to die quickly.

In my honest opinion, warp and teleport would be huge aids to the ET as we could use them to access the ET warehouse and event sites in multi-world without GM assistance, quickly scout for player groups, and move parties quickly via teleport when the situation calls for it. You all keep saying "GMs should run events," and after awhile on the team I can say that will probably never happen on a regular basis. I can barely rope in enough time to get an item named, though many are willing to aid in the way of using /mob and other pex we don't have.

As a more recent member of the Event Team, I hope you hear my voice as someone who has both been exposed to the group and who has been for a vast majority of his time, a normal player. I understand and agree wholeheartedly that players should run their own events and stories. That's fantastic, and keeps the world healthy. However, I have to say, I have seen some absolutely incredible things during my time on the ET that normal players frankly would have no way to execute on their own. Giant worldedit shields of magic, dungeons with giant golems and fire elemental lords, the whole nine yards. The event team, under Firespirit's guidance, has been making moves to create large-scale, long-term events which require all of our pex and creative juices to drive. Bear in mind that you will definitely see less of this as we grow accustomed to the new map, but they are in the works. Brainstorming on event lines for 4.0 has already begun.

If you're asking yourself "Why have I never seen one of these glorious events?" you may be one of the 90% of people who simply ignores ET members when they wander over and ask ICly if you'd like to take part in an adventure. Try saying yes next time and see what happens. ;)

EDIT: I should also probably address abuse claims. More often than not when any function of the ET pex is used outside of an event, it is either by accident or to simply watch a cool battle unfold. God mode lasts through logout, and I almost always forget to turn it off and on. I try to be good with it, and keep it toggled off, but mistakes do happen. Twice I've had it on when PVP started, and as was said above, as soon as I realized, I halted, turned it off, and allowed myself to be killed without fuss. That's common practice. Can fly and vanish be used to get over walls? Sure. But the only time I have ever done that was to

A: Create an event for players in a city

B: Return to my character's home after I have completed an event

Mobdisguise "abuse" mainly amounts to aimlessly flying around as a bat and watching battles. Hang us.

I agree with the removal of the Event Team. Never cared for the idea nor the way it has been executed since it's creation.

If we have GMs doing their jobs effectively, we shouldn't need an Event Team. GMs should be facilitating player-driven events themselves. I feel like the Event Team was created because many GMs couldn't be arsed to help out in the past and so they pawned everything off on all of these teams: Event Team, Guides, MAT, VAT, Lore Team. These are all just a few examples of things that the GMs used to moderate themselves. I don't see why players should be doing all the work. If they are putting in the work and are trustworthy, make them GMs and weed out those that aren't. We don't need all these teams, they are weakening our leadership and our playerbase. We need more active GMs in the trenches.

Did you know the logistics for the end event requires at least 15 ETs from all across timezones? And they need breaks inbetween running these events. While I'm sure all 15 would make fine GMs, not all of them have expressed interest in dealing with the community as a 'global-moderator'. Dont expect the global-mods to sacrifice themselves further, this isn't Aegis anymore. We've stopped doing 'big' events as global moderators since Petyr and Sapphireshard quit the GM team.

I'm more of a 'game-master' than a 'global-moderator', but I still have to do my duties as a 'mod'. Understanding the rules, modreqs, answering players. Not many care for that hassle. They just are creative folks who want to do events. I was not fond of the way the ET was executed from its creation, up until I took the helm. Even then it was many months of internal reforms that I am happy to give them free reign.

I will cut down on the unneeded staff however.
