((Your going to have a better name than 1d17068a7a719caba97a7c1e6bde28e0.png Yes? Something more creative?))

((Kaedrin is Kaedwen. The White Rose was from the Witcher. Ruskan Orthodoxy is Russian Orthodoxy. Kharajir are Khajiit. All these names were barely changed at all when they were brought into LOTC.))

My family, not house, is actually entirely based off of the Italian culture. The reason that I would like the name changed is that it seems very much on the nose, I mean look at the Valois one (Don't know the name off by heart) you can tell it's french from the way it is written. I wouldn't mind if the name isn't changed, it is just something that I personally would like to see.

((Valois is/was a region in France, so calling yourself Valois isn't better than calling yourself Illatian.))

((EDIT: And the entire Auvgernian culture in LOTC is named after Auvergne in France.))

I must confess.

Illatia... Is a poorly-rated holiday resort in Crete.

Hello, everyone,

I don't know if this lowly post will get exposure, but there is some Illatian RP in the works, with House Visconti and a few others in preparation for 4.0. Please let me know if you are interested at all! Lots of interesting stuff developing at the moment ;)

Perhaps it is an option to look at some Italian sub-regions (much like Valois/Auvergne) and see if one of those names manages to 'catch on'.

Other than that.. I look forward to pasta being served. Noodles are terrific (got to love those easterners) and a hearty Kraltan potatoe (cooked or raw) is great as well.. But as the saying goes.. "Variety is the spice of life."

Hey guys, I'm going to throw my ideas for 4.0 out here, in the hope that we can work together for some great RP situations.

I whipped this up to give a visual idea:

6d64ec7fa8959450aa4755b6405748ac.png

I had this idea that there would be a central town/village, surrounded by the Illatian houses that I earnestly encourage to join the community, where both peasant and noble RP is encouraged and supported.

The town could start off as a little hamlet, developing as the houses arrive/invest in the settlement. The Illatian noble houses would be existing in an allied state.

And it is the town and its dynamic population that acts as a RP-nurturing mechanic! As the lore states, Illatian communities appoint an Illadoro - the community elder.. The town will have a council, consisting of a noble (or two, idk) from each of the surrounding Illatian houses. The Illadoro is elected from amongst this council. However, it is not the nobles that vote, but the commoners - creating an incentive for the noble houses to influence the townsfolk to vote for their representative. The house of the Illadoro receives great benefits, whilst the Illadoro represents their agenda in the settlement, though still with the commoners' interests at the forefront.

Foreseeable Benefits of this system:

 - promotes interaction between nobility and commonfolk.

 - incentive for OOC communities to draw in peasant players, and make peasant RP attractive.

 - peasant RP is therefore good source of family RP

 - noble RP is boosted, with all the politicial power struggles in the town, though not so serious that it causes war.

 - houses are on friendly terms, yet have some competition to strive for

 - unites Illatian community, IC and OOC

Needed for this system to work:

 - OOC co-operation of Illatian houses

 - IC 'surface' co-operation of Illatian houses

 - IC approval from higher powers of Oren and whatnot.

I'm just throwing ideas around. Feedback would be great.

ALSO, I'm going to take this opportunity to discuss naming. I see no problem with Illatian as a culture name, personally, but we can attend to that later. I think that the poll option 'Venamo' is a good choice for the name of this town. That is all.

Farewell.

For god's sake... Our server's name is Lord of the Craft. There is NOTHING creative about that. Why does this matter so much?

"Lord of the Craft" may not be original, but what about "Anthos" "Aegis", the elvish language, the Dwarven Brathmordakin, the Adunians, Orcs actually being honorable? These are things that, yes, still have their unoriginal tidbits, but they're a mash of unoriginal parts and creativity. There's a difference between near copy, and creatively inspired.

Wait there is still an argument about the name!?

Lol guys let it go, if you don't like the name don't rp with them or as them, no need to continue the argument. Drop it.

This a lot.

As a full blooded, native born Italian, this culture seems actually pretty ridiculous and forced due to all of the stereotypes and such. If you want help, shoot me a PM.

Yes, we were in this state from the start. But we actually have evolved into an unique culture with self-made words, new traditions , etc. We also had an age of enlightement. I added you on skype to discuss this, I was planning to redo the culture to its current state anyways.

Illatia was an ancient roman province/Greek province just a bit north of rome. Or it was in the north of Italy. One of the two. I see nothing wrong with it at all.
