Very simple, the wood elf guards often go offline and leaves gates closed, meaning that many prospective RPers are kept outside of the city and grow frustrated trying to get in. While I do realize and do understand that the Beru'cinhir would like to keep the crazies out of the city, this blocks a lot of possible RP, frustrates would-be RPers,  and generally makes the Wood Elf city into something of a ghost town. I would suggest, and many with me, that guards simply leave it open when they go offline, so that RP is always to be found within Lin'ame. Thank you for bothering to read this, and I pray that you don't get too angry at me for making another one of these posts. :P Jk, but really, thanks.

I've personally tried to get in on my Elf to RP with fellow elves but out of the two times I have tried there have been none that could open the gate. It is very frustrating and it IS driving away wood elf players.

Most nations close their gates when there arent any guards- And as someone who lived in the last wood eleven Settlement of Leanniel I understand why they'd want to keep their gates closed.

We were often gang banged a ridiculous amount during hours when the guards literally could not be on. Thats why a closed-gate policy was started.

I don't know, maybe the password for the gatehouse should be given to a few more people or something to solve this, but I think the gate should still be closed when there isnt someone to defend the town. It makes sense in RP too.

This has come up before, and I do insist on standing my ground - when it comes to the gate policy.

We have an established system, that is very effective whenever guards are online. One would think then if guards are offline, unable to open a gate, they would also be offline and unable to defend from raids. The gate is preventative when it comes to hostile actions within the town, because most of the trouble-makers are kept out.

There is a soulstone pillar available, within the walls, and you may PM anyone of the officials in Lin'ame for the password to the door which leads to it. Once you get inside the town, bind your soulstone to the pillar, and you won't need to trouble yourself with the gates again.

Another solution? If you are a Wood Elf, simply apply to become a member of the Restrained - the actual guard force. We won't be giving 'keys' to citizens for the sake of convenience. RPly our chief concern is safety.

That is all, not really an issue, and certainly not one to bring into an OOC forums feedback section.

Coming from a person whose character names end with Grandaxe and Grayhammer - I can see your frustration in Lin'ame keeping their gates closed, Charoodler.

I'm pretty sure there's a soul stone pillar setup somewhere around Lin'ame / Ker'lomi. Would it not just be simpler to get the key to the door and bind yourself to the pillar?

Certainly, I understand all that. But it's better there is roleplay than not, correct? I am not going to fight anyone on this, this is simply the opinion of some select players. I myself am already alright, but, ah. The other newest players? Not so much.

The solution to that is to simply joined the Restrained then, Sancus. If there are no guards in your timezone, then become one. Our numbers are rather limited and it's unreasonable to ask us to compromise the safety of Lin'ame because we cannot provide coverage 24/7.

This is an RP issue and the RP is that the Malinor open gate policy led to a lot of annoyance for the actual inhabitants of Malinor. There is something to be said for allowing everyone in (it's a good idea and provides good RP somtimes) but the city of Lin'ame serves its inhabitants first and foremost, and those inhabitants need some peace and quiet.

I love the assumptions and the meta-gaming I get when I'm just trying to RP with elves.

Lin'ame will die when someone makes a decent elf settlement that doesn't shut it's gates all the time. I don't see the point in fixing it.

Okay then why the **** do I have to soulstone to it? Could I at least go to the spawn so I could have some control over my RP instead of SSing to an empty, closed, inactive city filled with OOCly irritating and unfriendly people? This doesn't make sense and it really gets new players.

Pillar. Inside walls. Become resident. Ask for keys to pillar. Bind soulstone. Issue solved.

What about the people who do not want to become a resident? Why are they subject to their "home" pillar being forcibly bound to a town which does not want to include them in any way, ICly or OOCly, because they have a network of OOC grudges?

I know you can rebind slot 0, but still, what about new players? Why do they have to wait hours to RP with elves?

If you do not want to be a resident... You're the one who's isolating yourself, not us.

Not sure what you're talking about with an OOC network of grudges.

Also, Lin'ame in the scheme of things is rather newly established. Once more people go into the guard force across a variety of timezones, chances are that there will be less worry about the gate.
