Your View: Definition Of Trolling

Everyone (Who makes a big deal out of it) tries to make trolling seem like such a bad thing...there's honestly a bit of a definitive line between harassment and trolling. Trolling is literally so stupid that nobody should care. Harassment is much, much more personal.

Has the right idea. Honestly, I am the last person to keep up with internet lingo, so this whole idea of trolling really just equates to people believing they have a good sense of humor yet either can't translate it into text or honestly bullshyte themselves in the mirror each morn. Mama in the south always told me "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me". I reckon I got good parent figures because people "trolling me" really have no effect on me. I am still breathing, this really has no effect on me and I think it is blown out of proportion.

I'm pretty much in agreement with Aislin and Lago (and the various others who agreed with them). Don't waste your time creating a definition for a word that nobody will agree on, instead make firm guidelines for what is and is not allowed separate from the stupid catch-all term known as "trolling."

Likewise, I can't help but wonder why this thread was posted? The title suggests that it's meant as a discussion for what is the definition of trolling, but players offering definitions have had their posts hidden. However, the definitions cited in the OP are clearly in opposition with what the majority of the playerbase and staff consider to be trolling (or at least a lot of them, perhaps not a majority). It almost seems like this thread was posted more so to label certain players as trolls officially, rather than actually discuss what trolling is.

I agree, this is very sad.

I made this thread with the idea in mind to try and help fix a problem that many people have told me was 'seriously, the biggest problem with LOTC right now'. Many of you have posted some good points and those I am considering. The ONE post that I have hidden was one in which the definition was posted within a minute of my post, which to me was a rude move showing he'd read nothing of what I had said. I have not been hiding people's definitions.

Honestly, I am doing my best here to try and fix the problems I see. This is not something to hurt people or point fingers. Really, I don't see where I pointed out anything. I was told a problem: defining trolling. So I asked for definitions from players got one and had several players and staff look it over and tell me what they thought. This was the product. And look at this thread. Seriously, read through all the five pages of rude responses and bad jokes dished out for trying to do something to help fix things.

I promise you all that the GMs really are doing what we can to make the server better, but a little bit of support when we show you we are trying to do something would be nice now again. Especially since that's really all the payment us GMs get. Think about that sometimes. Regardless, I'm locking this and processing the information to come up with a better solution. Thank you to those of you who were polite with your responses.
