Advice On Roleplay

Recommended Posts

Posted this in a status but it was way too large, so I deleted it and decided to post here.

I'm pretty burned out on most of my characters right now and wanted everyone's opinion. Should I make a new character? I've done the whole "Be a simple farmer, or bard". Not my thing, personally. Maybe not doing it right but idk. i've also done the typical guard person. Which was fun for a couple days but... Yeah. Or how should I spice up my current characters? I've tried givin them new goals but problem is, I can't think of much of anything to do, or even know how to reach what I want to do. Any advice?

Have you tried taking a couple days break? Maybe then your vigor for a particular type of role play might return to you.

Get the event team working. I'm sure if you have an idea and they have the time, they'll set up a small role playing event for you and others you want to involve. I know it's not a new character, but it's role play nonetheless.

Turn to alchemy. Its enjoyable if you have a good teacher. It only gets boring after years and years of rping it.

Might consider doing that. A good idea.

Already have a Halfling, a Dedicant with the Druids. I should probably keep roleplaying there but it's hard to stay focused on him.

Don't start a character with a pre-determined goal, that is the worst thing to do. The best roleplay comes out of a free-form character that really just goes with the flow and is influenced by the things around him. If you're out of things to do, let the world toss you around and put you somewhere. Instead of writing about how your character was (for example) entranced by the way farmers took the harvest and became a farmer, live that out and your experiences.

Very amazing advice, I'll try that out.

Now then, another question: How did you guys decide what race/subrace you wanted to play?

I recommend finding yourself a dice, and rolling. Then again, I keep getting elves out of the rolling system. ;-;

Try playing a character of a race you haven't played as! :D

Idk besides that. Just try to develop a character you like, idk.

Play a race that fits your personality best. Always play a race that suits you OOCly and will make you friends so that roleplay would be more enjoyable. If you are a literature guy and enjoy the fine aspects of high quality roleplay, a High Elf is a great race to play. If you like joking around with subtle trolling (but good roleplay), join the Humans. If you like goofing around in LotC, join the Halflings. Find your niche and roll with it.
