-A missive is sent to the lords of the realm-

With the disappearance of newly coronated Boris Carrion, Oren must find itself a new Emperor. It is said that in the Emperor's desk was left the terms of the first succession, addressed as the Edict of Aanen.

Edict of Aanen

On Imperial Succession

As determined in the Council of Eruthos, election is determined by The College of Electors; The Imperial seat shall follow an Agnatic Elective Succession. To be considered a valid candidate, one must be of virtually pure human descent, which is determined as possessing four grandparents with at most, 1/4th non-human blood. One must also herald from an elector’s household and possess Royal or Imperial descent; in other words, an ancestor which has ruled over one of the Empire’s many predecessor states.

Section I.

The College of Electors

As determined in the Council of Eruthos, the human state shall appoint its successor by electoral right. The Emperor holds right to dismiss electors with due evidence of treason, ineptitude, or inactivity. He also holds right to appoint new electors, given they fulfill the obligations of an Imperial estate. However, the College must always remain at an odd number to prevent electoral gridlock upon success. Each member of the College of Electors is regarded as a prince-elector. Any theocratic states, however, cannot nominate themselves as Emperor.

The five prince-electors are as follows

The Duke-Elector of Raev

Held by Duke Tuvya of the House of Carrion

The Duke-Elector of Kaedrin

Held by Duke Robert of the House of Chivay

The Duke-Elector of Savoy

Held by Duke Olivier of the House of Savoy

The Duke-Elector of Junavos

Held by Duke Richard of the House of Bar

The Prince-Elector of the Pontificate

Held by the High Pontiff (to be elected)

Section II.

The Imperial Estates

The holdings of Prince-Electors are to be regarded as the Imperial estates, and they hold certain rights and duties. Territories without representation in the College of Electors are not considered Imperial estates.

Duke-Electors may designate their own succession laws between Primogeniture, Gavelkind and Ultimogeniture once per reign. A prince-elector is always an Imperial immediacy, and cannot be subject to a liege aside from the Emperor. However he may hold as many vassals as he wishes, given Imperial consent.

Section III

The Imperial Diet

Stemming from Raevir Duma tradition, the Imperial Diet was established under the reign of Emperor Boris I Tuvyavic Carrion in order to facilitate electoral succession in the second Holy Oren Empire. The great gathering convenes on two occasions; upon Imperial succession and on the Emperor’s summon. The Imperial Diet currently consists of the College of Electors. The Emperor holds the right to invite individuals outside of the College of Electors to the Imperial Diet, and it is customary for the Imperial Privy to be in attendance.

The Imperial Regency has held the Imperial Diet; they call to the Prince-Electors to make haste and appoint a new Emperor from their households!

[Cruz has a family emergency and will not be able to invest time into minecraft fantasy roleplay so naturally Oren will need a new ruler]

High Patriarch Thomas I frowns.

"Let not the Church have purchase or influence in this election. We wish not to meddle in the affairs of politics. Choose another for the fifth seat of the electoral council."

Meldur the Blue, Warden of the West will remain Imperial Regent until such time as a new monarch is chosen.

Castor Sparrow spits onto the floor in sheer disgust reading over the document,

"Uneducated inbreds- they have not the intelligence to even know who the head of House Chivay is. It pains me to see what this so called 'Empire' has become."

The angered bastard rips up the paper and scatters the pieces into the wind.

Aeran raises his hand in salute. "I for one pledge my undying support for Meldur the Blue." he says to nobody in particular.

Edward chuckles as Castor tears apart the paper, "What an election this is, to give a puppet like de Bar a vote and not one to a house such as Rovin that musters 50,000 strong? This is oddly reminiscent of the last time the Carrions claimed to set up an elective monarchy. They named Electors, then undermined the election by naming enough of their own puppets as electors so they could seat themselves in the imperial throne. I would know all too well, having been an Elector created by the Carrions to bolster their vote. That is how Carrion rule came to be, it's no surprise they are returning to their roots. Do not mistake scheming for fairness."

"A joke... The Carrion oathbreakers are fools. They seize power through violence and treachery only to have the Empire disintegrate around them. If they had not left my nephew in the dirt and let his head roll, he could have propped up this farce of a government."

Marcellus, a once fugitive of the Empire, laughs almost in victory.

"Also, who the **** is House de Bar? A puppet House I'm sure."

"What is this mockery? An electoral despotism? Are we nothing more than just a confederacy of states..? We need a solid succession, one that is Absolute and by the right of the Creator!"

"Return a solid ruling family!"

"The Carrions seize power from the 'corrupted' Chivay's, only to lose that power once more with the chance of Robert Chivay returning to the throne! You are a bunch of fools."

After a ill-fated scuffle with a number of Sariant-turned-bandits, Tuvya strolls about the near ghost-town of Petrus gazing over the shambles of an Empire his son Boris had left behind. Memories of similar circumstances in Abresi come to the wizened crow, in days past when he was not the last living son of Siegmund's blood. Six children he had bore with Mary of Therving, and with the disappearance of Boris all six have died or disappeared. The new generation of Crows Tuvya thought his legacy, now gone from the world; the Crow-Cloak Roy and the distant Pavel the last kin he could call his own.

Once, the aged Patriarch had bore the name of Carrion and his families Boyar's Cap of Crows with a certain pride, but the Age of New Crows now left a sour taste in Tuvya's mouth whenever he heard talk of Carrion. Even the glory of Mount Augustus was turned to ashes with the besmirchment suffered by his House under these New Crows.

As Tuvya tours the small office of the late Joseph Lane, still as yet unburied to his knowledge, he thinks of the first time he had spurned Kingship, making way for the Great Steward and Heinrik to make their marks on the world. Tuvya's thoughts shift to the second time he denied the throne, Franz' blood and civil war staining Oren. In such times he had brothers and sons to lay the duty upon, but no more.

Tuvya comes to the only conclusion he can make before saddling his horse to ride towards the mighty fortress of Angren; though he had no part in Boris' new Empire, he would work to right the damage his son had caused to humanity so that mayhap one day before he head to the Seven Skies he may bear the name of Carrion with pride once more.
