To the eyes of elves, in character, who've been around since Aegis, the change the high elves undertook makes no sense. There were no racist elves (or at least not more than five or so) to make a whole nation out of them. In essence, it should not have happened, if we follow the storyline.

Follow this logic and nothing should happen, everyone should be the same bland, boring, modern humans nonculture because that's what we were at the start.

Maybe I'm taking this to OOC, but the racist, supremist culture just annoys the **** out of me.

So they should completely remake their culture because you don't like them?

Nobody is forcing you to go to Haelun'or.

It's a good RP hub, but those who want to be a part of it, is shunned out and are forced to make new characters in order to get some decent roleplay.

Only if they've made characters wildly incompatible with the High Elven culture. If you're in their lands you play by their rules, same is true with all the races.

EDIT: This post is further clarified two posts down.

Not quite. Where am I saying I dislike them? I am aware no one forces me to go anywhere. It was not an argument nor a complaint. The High Elves were talked about to try and find a way to fix things around, based on the survey results. Did you read all the previous posts in order?

Either way. Things do happen even if we follow that... "logic", as you called it (though it wasn't meant to be a form of logic, but an explanation). The result of role-play makes things change all the time. I was referring to changes caused or forced by ooc.

Not aiming to be rude nor anything of the sort, but... Your second comment right there (that for some reason doesn't show unless I quote it) contradicts your initial stance? You speak of unchanging humans in a way that suggests you dislike them that way, promoting the change of things to make them more interesting (or because you don't like them), and then contradict it. I'm not sure I got it right.

Second two are replies to Cyndikate.

By modern human I mean IRL human. The LotC humans have a zealous medieval European-esque culture that fits them just fine. By "bland modern human" I refer to what Malinor had: no culture at all.

The clarification is much appreciated!

These guys can do whatever they want honestly, just include others in their RP instead of telling them to **** off.

Nobody's excluded OOC.

#ServerBiasAgaisntAdunians

Happens when a people successively get every nation on the map to host them and then backstab them. Twice for the dwarves.

If Adunia is to become a thing again they need a leader, and a leader with at least some political skill at that, and they need to not rebel against their patrons.

I miss Malinor because it was open to everyone else thus being a strong RP hub. It wasn't a huge pain in my spine. But this is coming from a player of a character that barely does anything anymore.

It's coming from a player that refuses to adapt, that tries to get the whole world to adapt to them rather than to change things themselves. The world isn't going to change for one person.

You can make a character in literally every nation on the map. Kha, Halfling, Orc, Dwarf, Human, Elf, High Elf, the lot, you just have to abide by the laws of that nation. If you want to RP with the High Elves as part of their nation make an actual High Elf or at least a character that doesn't possess (or at least flaunt) culturally taboo traits. A dwarf-orc hybrid will not fit in Haelunor, but nor will it in any other nation on the map.

Seems people aren't a fan of the nations, its a good thing alras is an independent group...

I am a bit confused why anyone asked timezone. Was it to find out who answers the surveys? Because we can get timezone information directly from Google Analytics.

I know that many players don’t believe we read the results (one player even wanted me to send them a certain .gif to them as proof we do read them!)

:freddie:

YES!

own.

It's not because I don't like them. It's because their current culture is doing nothing but driving players away from RP. I played a human child some weeks ago, and I was begging for food inside the Elven city, and I was killed on the spot. There was nothing edgy about the child. Just a homeless abandoned orphan who's hungry and just wants food.

I played a dark elf and was not let in at all and I was just a dark elf, nothing out of the ordinary. I just walked around and did nothing while I was lucky enough to enter the elves.

I saw screenshots of a new player get denied from a town because he didn't understand the culture for the race he was playing.

No one should have to be denied roleplay just because they play X. That was why nations back in the day were so good, and so open and god forbid. Roleplay was much more interesting two years ago than the roleplay I got in Athera. You could be an Orc and entered the human capital. No one cared as long as you weren't stupid and drew attention to yourself. Now because I play X character, I can't enter capitals and RP with other players, thus being OOCly punished. Oh and this capital doesn't like my kind either so I can't be with them. Where do I go? Nowhere? Might as well make a new character just to get RP. No one should have to do that.

Do you see why Nations suck now? You have to play X character to play with others. The roleplay is boring, unengaging and uninteresting.

I understand what nations are doing is strictly IC, but they have to understand that there may be OOC consequences for their IC actions. For example, evil characters, assholes, and general villains, cannibals, psychos don't get much roleplay anymore because no one OOCly wants to play with villains. The OOC Result of what the high elves and other nations are doing is denying players RP and driving them away, thus OOCly punishing them for playing characters they enjoy, and forcing them to make a new character to get roleplay.

Do what the majority of the server has done, join an independent faction. The other day we spent an hour fighting a giant sentient fish that was eating peasants. Unable to slay it we lured it away with promises of cake, the fish's name was Charles Freeman

I find it interesting most people are 'independent'. I would personally like to see more RP concentrated into capitals. Now how can we make this happen...

But you did roleplay and so did they. They drove the filthy urchin threatening to tarnish their carefully crafted "utopia" from their city and they didn't allow a dangerous individual to walk in through the front door.

What you want is them to give you the specific roleplay you want, but that's not how it works. If I make an orc necromancer that uses a human spine as a walking stick and decide want to RP as Oren nobility I can't.

As for driving people away, if they really were then they'd have population issues. They really, really don't. Most people get that to fit into a settlement you have to abide by their social norms. For the humans, that means don't be a heretic, don't perform magic, and don't be arrogant and rude against the nobility or military. For the High Elves, that means not being some hybrid creature or halfbreed and not attempting to damage their culture. For the dwarves, that means not insulting the Brathmordakin, not being dishonourable and not claiming to be part of a dwarven clan when you're not a dwarf. For the orcs, that means being very respectful, following their way to the point where they accept you as one of their own, completing their rites and possessing a certain martial prowess.

You're saying they should not take action against "assholes", and give daylight murderers and cannibals free reign? Do nothing against criminals of the highest degree? That people who are actively trying to kill and main them IC should not be barred from the city when discovered?

If you want to play something that's abhorrent to almost every civilised people both in LotC and in reality, you'll be an outcast IC, living on the fringes just as such people do IRL. Do you not get that?

Don't play a villain if you don't want to be treated like a villain IC.

this whole attitude that i should be able to play any character i want and be treated the same by everyone is complete bullshit yo'

if you want to be accepted into a group's rp, it makes perfect sense that you should have to comply with their beliefs and laws
