Far Over The Misty Mountains Rise...

In the dead of night a crackling was heard, as it was every night. A popping of a burning brazier echoed through the silent night. For how long these braziers had burned none could truly say - They stood as beacons amongst rubble that surrounded it. Now in ruins, the pedastool where these braziers stood was once the spot of honor, warmth, and welcoming... but now, alone and desolate, the area feels... haunting, a stark reminder of not just a ruined city... but a ruined civilization.

 

The flame flickers in the wind and increases in light and for a short period in time it peels back the darkness to show it's charge - the thing it stands eternal vigil over. Carved into the very mountainside a towering door makes it's stern stance. Emblazoned with Symbols, it stands as a bastion of defense, holding whatever may lie within under it's guardianship.

 

 

Together they wait. For what we may never truly know... but they are patient. They have stood the test of time and kept their secrets to themselves... but, as with all secrets, eventually they make their way into the light. This is no exception - Now, the darkest of nooks will finally have a candle light brought through it... What truly waits within? What do the doors hold in this Lone Mountain?

 

Long lost, these halls have yet to be discovered however... Perhaps some clever and persistent explorers might uncover the forgotten doors?
