Canonist Defense Treaty

 

Written and Drafted on the 10th of Ambers Cold, 1488

by Baron Paul de Montfort

 

Issued and Confirmed on 19th of The Amber Cold, 1488

by the following Sovereigns

 

Andrik Vydra, King of Akovia

 

Paul de Montfort, Baron of Montfort

 

Olivier de Savoie, Duke of Savoie

 

Franz Vladov, Baron of Wozmir

 

Symon Stafyr, Count of Werdernberg

 

Article I

 

• The signee of this treaty shall swear to always be anti-schimist nations, hereby known in conglomerate as the Canonist Defense Union, and never split from the mother and holy church.

• The signee will agree to a mutual defense agreement with other signatories.

 

Article II

 

• We will promote a unified church through donation to the mother church to fund a stronger religion.

• We will draft new bishoprics and promote recruitment to the church.

• We will ensure the good fortune and protection of the Holy Palanite.

 

Article III

 

• Signee’s will be called to the war efforts against the Undead

• Each member nation will actively patrol the roads of Athera to defeat wandering undead

 

Article IV

 

• The member nations will pool men & resources into a single military organization.

• The member nations will allow the construction of fortress’s/checkpoints within members lands.

 

Should any true servant of the Creator wish to join this holy confederation, an approach should be made to current signatories

King Andrik Vydra looks upon his signed copy of the agreement, content.

*Captain Volker sifts through the ever growing reports of Akovian and Undead cooperation. Raevir and Heretic walking side by side as they kill, steal and rob those who fight against the Undead on a daily basis. A Hound runt comes in with yet another report detailing how yet another dead Raevir with an Akovian military manual had been found fighting in defense of an Undead sorcerer. He shakes his head. With said report, a copy of the latest declaration from the South- conviently far from the actual war against darkness . . .

 

*Volker reads the 2nd article . . .

 

"More money to be sent to the mother church, more like the lethargic High Pontiffs pocket. I wonder what they had to tell the Savoie in order for them to actually agree to something as silly as that."

 

*He reads the 4th article . . .

 

"Ah, and they even force ownership of their troops too, rest in peace Savoie. You have succumb to the ruse of the Crow."

Edward Winter II sighs sadly, as the Duchy of Savoie forsakes the Heartland to become the fighting dog of the Akovians, chained to post by the lies of the corrupt pontificacy. Edward turns to the Bishop Lutzow and says,

"This was, I suppose, inevitable. The Ashford bloodline, since the death of Lucien and the Exodus, has been manipulated by the crow and their church. Its split-house's names have been taken from the Prince-Archbishopric of Savoie and Viscounty of Bar, the pontifical manipulation of these territories being what led to the first Carrion Pontiff, Owyn II, to be denounced by later pontiffs for his corruption and secular intervention.

As these same former Carrion-church vassals combine with the Raevir, the former vassals of the Kingdom of Ruska reuinte. All that's missing are the Carrion politicians, but one cannot doubt that the Adrianites of Montfort will seek to fill this void. It is a true shame that the Savoyards have forsakened the Heartland in this trying time for the Faith and its flock and thrown their lot in with the southerners. One can only hope that these mislead heartlanders will come to see our Creator's holy light. I do not doubt in our God nor our cause, for the forces of justice and faith will prevail over the corruption of the canonist church."

Bishop Rags frowns hearing of the de Savoie signing the treaty

"Und here I thought frum mein gutt friend Kristoff zat ze Savoie were to remain neutral..."

He shrugs

Franz sits at his desk with the document in front of him. "I am sorry that we could not come to an agreement Arn.." he mutters as he signs the legislation and gives it to a messenger who then runs down the steep mountain to take it to his new allies. "The Barony of Woldzmir shall join the treaty." he chuckles lightly as he adds on "Not to be confused with Adria.." he grins as he grabs the next piece of paper work on his desk.

Franz sits at his desk with the document in front of him. The Ambassador wrinkled his nose as he read over this little development with a frown, remarking to his assistant that it seemed that the Savoy dedication to Mardonic freedom had expired.

Sebastian would note that House Stafyr is in the League, has marriage alliances with both sides, has lost land to both sides in this war, is surrounded by canonist forces, and wishes to stay neutral as always yet are dragged in again and again. "It is a true shame that the most peaceful house in Humanity is dragged into this pathetic conflict of men with titles worth no more than when they were imagined up, we will lose the most in this war, we have already lost more than both sides combined. I have to take my hat off to them, a bunch of idiotic warmongers have given the most peaceful house in Humanity little choice and permanently damaged us beyond repair!
