A Citizen's Rebuke

With the recent denouncement of the Mali'ame by the Mali'aheral, a small number of fliers are found around Leyulin and the gates to Haelun'or.

And so it would seem that once again the Mali'aheral of the Plateau wish for to stifle the growth of the Mali as a whole. Once more, they wish to subjugate and strangle the sons of Malin who would dare step from their shadow, and eclipse their power.

Many of you will still remember these days of oppression, in the Fringe, where the Mali'aheral crowded us into slums and hid in their towers while it was us who suffered the war that raged on.

Many more will remember Thales, where the Mali's attempts to once more be free were struck with a High Elven crusade to prevent us from doing that which their own agreement permitted us - leaving.

Only in Athera could we break away, once the eyes of the world turned to the Mali'aheral, and finally aided us in their eviction.

In this freedom, under the supposed madman who leads us, we have achieved numbers that our kind have lacked since Aegis. We have achieved the ability to protect ourselves and our families.

And now they wish to have us again. They wish to steal from us our leadership, so that they may once more take from us our freedom and our autocracy.

Do not fall victim to the lies of the Silver, who's isolationism have cast them blind to the ways of the world.

They have made public a list of supposed grievances, ranging from mild differences in culture, to ludicrous and wild accusations, as baseless as they come. Here, I will rebuke these.

The beating of mere children of Mali, the gravest of all crimes.

Who was the child in question? When did this happen? You leave out any details that would add credibility to your claim. I could just as easily say all of the Mali'aheral worship Iblees - And I'd have just as much evidence as you do in this.

The erstwhile breach of the terms of Haler’nor signed by the leaders of elmali’ame.

Again you neglect the act of actually providing details. Which supposed terms were broken? When? Where? What proof is there, aside the word of Athera's congregation of deceivers and manipulators.

Intentional attacks on the residents of Haelun’or both physically and verbally.

Laureh'lin permits its residents to speak their minds. Hatred spurned by petty insults is that of children.

As for physical? I won't repeat myself a third time.

Attacks on the various stalwart human allies of Haelun’or.

Which allies? Laureh'lin is allied with Aesterwald, and have not attacked them. You seem to have imagined this offense.

The intentional undermining of relations between the respectable Kingdom of Urguan and the Kingdom of Aesterwald.

No such thing has happened. If you actually have proof to your claim, feel free to present it.

Inciting the ire of Fiandra by encouraging and spearheading attacks and incursions, thus placing all Elven land in grave risk.

And had we not, you would have blamed us for letting it be. The forest has attacked us, and we have repelled it. You would do the same, without your natural barrier.

The harbouring of the cultist and murderer Relgard Sintel, despite multiple refused requests for extradition and trial.

The harbouring of the murderer and outlaw Nienna Calm, despite multiple refused requests for extradition and trial.

Criminals and cultists are removed on sight, given they are actually criminals and cultists. Provide proof of any such, and changes will be made. Until then, we will act on reality rather than your falsehoods. You are free to keep these people from your lands.

The harbouring of the impure nation-killer known as Titania Hawksong, branded as a supporter of chaos.

Branded in your lands, perhaps. Not ours. The act of having once led a fallen nation is not a crime. She has done nothing but aid our nation, and will continue to do so. If you wish to prevent her from entering your city - feel free.

The knowing harbouring and declared support of the tyrannical fallen elf known simple as Phaedrus, whose genocidal crimes are beyond all measure.

As with the other three, you are free to keep him from your lands. If he has committed crimes against your people during his stay in Leyulin, bring proof.

The open, mocking acceptance of the titles “Malinor” and “New Malinor” when offered, thus cementing this idealism.

We are not closed to humor. Even in your own accusation to claim it to be 'mocking'. Must you truly grasp so far that you consider it a grievance to humor the past?

The acknowledgement of cultist infestations within Laureh’lin and inaction in their removal.

This accusation only cements your utter ignorance. Every day, for the past elven week, we have slain the cultists of Embermoore. Multiple times, we have attacked the fortress itself.

And we have been victorious in doing so. Numerous cultists have been removed from our land, and only those ex-cultists who have provided us with information and keys have been permitted back.

The infringement upon the borders of Haelun’or with armed parties of soldiers.

Our road skirts your border. If you'd like to make a road that's a few meters to the east, feel free. Otherwise? Get over it.

Failure to respect the sovereignty of Haelun’or.

By this, do you mean we've failed to fall to your will? That we've failed to do your bidding? If there is any such problem, it is that Haelun'or has failed to respect our own.

The discouragement of the dark elven populace of Laureh’lin, and the stifling of their culture.

We've accommodated them as much as our space allows. No grievances from them have been made against us. In fact, their temple to the ancestors is roughly tied with the Tavern for the town's largest building.

Insanity, screams of gods in the sky and bias from forces unknown.

Utter fallacy. Quite literally imagined.

((If you guys really want to talk about this, do so OOC. Many of us have our opinions on such, but lets not take that particular issue IC, yeah?))

The active and discreetly declared threat of war against Haelun’or as a tactic of intimidation, and expressed cowardice and failure to acknowledge when approached in a public forum.

When approached with hostilities, the answer is hostility. I personally do not support any such threat of war, and would like to see some proof, but do not place yourself as a victim.

The open, declared support of the genocide against the peaceful Kharajyr, declared allies of Haelun’or.

No such thing has happened. There's even a Kharajyr in our guardforce.

Each of your supposed grievances are easily countered. Many of them are somewhere between hearsay and fallacy.

As for the issue of the Mali'ker? They are free to choose as they will. We are not of the Aheral, who would employ violence as a means of keeping citizens.

With this I conclude the matter, with my views from the eyes of a citizen of Leyulin.

Take it as you will.

A hooded form takes up the letter, narrowing his eyes before he would fold it in half, pocketing it.

"There's no way to promote peace between nations. Such is evident by now."

"Actually, Laureh'lin is more than happy to ignore Haelun'or and let it be so it can continue to focus on it's campaign against the Necromancers of Embermoore! No hostilities will occur between the two nations unless Haelun'or chooses to do so.

Also sir, please take your hood off while within the town." Art says politely, before shuffling off to handle other duties.

Hatneus, after closing his eyes in a moment of deep thought, opens them and states casually, "Why do we continue to care or acknowledge Haelun'or? Unless they actually interfere with the going-one of Leyulin, let us ignore them. You want to know where all this pent up anger and frustration can be put into? Slaying cultists of Immortui. Regardless, Haelun'or has no power over us. They're little declaration is just pointless words on paper."

After talking to himself, he sighs and goes to patrol the walls and work the gate.

A mali'uruk by the name of Deydra stares for a good long while at this part of the poster, her mouth hanging open for the majority, before she promptly clicks her jaw closed and pulls out some parchment and a charcoal pencil. She shakes her head, rage starting to boil in her. She takes a few deep breathes to calm herself a little, and beings to write.

Once it's all said and done, she pins the note near one of these posters that are most out in the open.

It reads as follows.

"I am a Mali'Uruk. I have half wood elven blood coursing through my veins. I have green skin, however.

Some time ago I confronted "Art" about gaining residency. His response was; "We don't house YOUR kind here" and was very bitter. A woman, I did not get her name, tried to convince him. I then heard of the town's restricted space and lack of residencies. I would have been thrilled with a simple elf-made cave in the side of a cliff with a door on it if only to live with my mother's people, whom I thought were more accepting. She was a beautiful woman...

He told me that even if he wanted to, which he didn't want to, he couldn't due to the law and the lack of housing. And the law cannot have exceptions made. I then went to seek out the laws of Leyulin, and found them eventually. The only law that restricted my wish to live with my mother's people was the law about skin colour - which is highly racist in it of itself. I accepted that, and simply choose to sleep under tree's in the weather. My uruk blood allows me to bear it.

However with this new discovery of a damn kha living in Leyulin and taking an official guard position I boil with rage and hurt. The kha is not even part elven! That is one law broken already. He needs to go! Only those of elven blood may take residence, or something, as the law read. He is clearly not.

But alas, that is not the only law he breaks by his presence in the city. His skin is not of the correct color. In fact, it's all fur.

Art had said no exceptions can be made, so why was this one made? Is it simply the uruk blood pumping through me that disgusts you? I am hurt deeply. Everything mother taught me seems to have been wrong.

~Deydra, mali'uruk"

She leaves to sit under the tree she had been under for some time now, sighing as she cools off, her fingers blackened with charcoal as she glares at the poster across from her.

A reply is penned.

Firstly, the kha was not a resident. He has a bunk in the barrack, but no more.

Secondly, he had multiple, already known citizens give good word in.

Do the same and you may be considered.

She stands up from the tree, somehow missing her, as he puts his note down, and taps him on the shoulder, reading it quickly from behind him after it's pinned. "That...doesn't change...the fact that Art is a racist...why does my skin...matter? Why is there a law such as this? I am still...half wood elven, exactly half."

"No true domain of Malin harbors transient beings; Malin's woods are for His children, not his nephews, and most definitely not those whom are not even a race of the Four!"

The Druid of Shadow calls out in in interjection. Deep-toned, he continues:

"Neither do half-Orcs deserve solace in this place that should be of proud Elven purity. The Laurir'keer and their heathenry would be accept you, wayward blood."

He offers the Half-Orc not judgments, but sound advice; for no spite laces his voice.

One of fliers drifts down from the gate of Haelun'or to the main road where Cheza manages to catch it. She reads over it, a little confused at first before muttering to herself "Damn mali'thilln, once again looks like they're trying to start unneeded fighting. I wonder how long until it works and blood is drawn." She then resumes her quiet watch of the road leading into Leyulin.

After patrolling up and down the roads, Lilum spots some papers littering the ground. Being an upstanding resident of the stone, he picks it up to throw it away, but not before reading what's on it.

The only words that come to his mind are,

"T'ese feckin' tree 'uggers ahre feckin' crazeh, s'ow some mo'e 'onah."

Seeing as though he just noticed he said it out loud, he turns around and begins returning to the Dwarven Capital to make sure he wont be turned on by any of the more radical elves on both sides.

"Amen," a voice chimes from within the Spring Circle grove as Lilum speaks. Isabella waves as he walks away.

Mizziyrn, a rather nationalist minded dark elf looks over all of the papers that have come about after Haelun'or denouncation of Artimec. A single word crosses the mind of the dark elf, as he observes the seeming unending conflict between the wood elves and high elves.

"Petty"

Mizziyrn sets off to find much better dark elf things to do
