Mephistophelian 977 Share Posted January 18, 2015 I am interested. Jist, you know me and my curiosity for all things on this server (lore-wise). The others...well, you might find out my hobby of reading through lore. Either way, consider me if you please :) Edit: I didn't write a long paragraph of why you would want me since it wasn't asked. If it is required, however, I would be pleased to write it up :)

leave me alone 995 Share Posted January 18, 2015 I would like to join the Lore team. Now not many people like me which makes it so I can't be on many of the other teams but I don't think that should matter for Lore Team. I regularly do stuff on the Wiki... That means something right...
Backup Lago 320 Share Posted January 18, 2015 Seeing as I know a thing or two about this job, I'll throw in my two pence on the matter. (It's worth more than your American $0.02! :P) To applicants: I've seen a few people asking if they need to make a case for themselves, so to speak. To that I'd say, if the Lore Team doesn't know you, absolutely yes. Link lore and events you've created and tell them what you can do. The Lore Team will pick who they think are best for the job, if you don't let them know how good you are they won't know. To the Lore Team: Make sure you get a good mix between the races. I always tried to do this whenever recruiting season came around but the final say on recruitment wasn't mine: whenever we got to who to pick it all kind of just died. You need some people on the orc side of things, you need some dwarf input, and most importantly you need humans! They've been neglected on the Lore Team since the Anthos Oren Exodus. To ensure the Lore Team is both impartial and knowledgeable you need a good mix amongst the races. I'd have mentioned halflings as well but they tend to do their own thing anyway. That being said, if someone's got a lot of community support, a lot of lore knowledge and huge amount of completed and implemented lore works under his belt (guess who I'm talking about) they shouldn't be overlooked either. There's no harm in having lots of LMs as long as they pull their weight. Looking through this thread, I'd definitely consider hellfiaz or ilikefooddude on the orc front. Maybe both, no harm in having a lot of recruits. Humans, I know Cracker has the experience from his work at the top of Oren, and Temp's done the job before: he's proven. However, there are doubtlessly a lot of talented individuals amongst the humans who could do the job well that we don't know about, the trick is finding them. Given how big they are I think it's definitely worth having a few humans. Dwarves, Kardel made a good case I think. Outside of racial considerations, I think swgrclan's a no-brainer at this point. He falls exactly into the mould we used to use when looking for recruits (knows his stuff, has common sense and has a lot of solid implemented lore) and has a lot of community support behind him. When community support and your recruiting criteria match up it's a win win. Let's put it this way, his credentials at the moment are better than mine were all those years ago. Heero's been chasing this job for so long he's at least worth considering. And finally, it's always worth having a few wildcards, people you don't know. Being constrained to people you know are sure bets limits the reach and scope of the Lore Team. Don't be afraid to recruit people you don't know and who aren't well known. It's not as if once LM's given it can't be taken away, and they may turn out to be true assets to the team. That, and if someone directly volunteers to be the wiki slave... :P This is by no means a comprehensive list as its constrained by my limited perspective. I list only the people I know the skills of or who posted them in this thread. There are doubtlessly countless potentially excellent LMs left undiscovered. Samson Option 9652 Share Posted January 18, 2015 Since Lagomorphia has posted recommendations as an ex-Lore Master, I'll do the same. 1. Swgrclan: Perhaps the most credible and indulging of any fiction writers on this server, I feel he has me by the balls at times [no homo]. He also has the added wisdom of how to translate writing into gameplay, he isn't given to making silly and unnuanced events. He also wields a considerable ability in terms of improvisation which is so crucial for events that can be taken serious, credibly, and molds depending on the variables of the moment. 2. Hadlais: She was one of the first Lore Masters believe it or not, but she stepped down shortly after. I don't know if she'd be willing to be a LM, but she has the ability. 3. TheCrackerJack: Perhaps one of the few who can understand the complexity of the Human roleplay and can write though I feel he leans more towards his home-base which seems to be medaevil content. This being said, you'd be surprised where he has been prior to Mogroka's reformed Human RP which was with the Wardens of Laurelin in Aegis lol. 4. HeeroZero: Wild card, he can write when he wants to. Bashing him for that very feature overlooks the fact that majority of the LMs in LotC's server history have always stuck to home-base and written to their in-crowd. Jistuma with the succubi, Rittsy with druidism, Grabthar with the Dwarves. HeeroZero has been with a plethora of groups, I actually wager he wouldn't be as biased of previously named examples. 5. Hellfiazz and Catarrh: These two are underrated, the fact that they can deal with a race that is perhaps tied with the Elves in terms of trying to go against the fictional grain is example enough of why they need to be Loremasters. As the Elves have been scarred by the in-real-life idea of promiscuous, sexualized fantasy tropes for the asocial tendencies of niche LARP and fantasy-loving communities [do a Google Search, come back to me. Tolkien is the only one to have presented a rather solid, logical, and fictionally rich idea of Elves], the Orcs are often depicted as brutish dipshits with one-dimensional disposition basically [Thank you WoW for the anti-semitic joke of Goblins too!]. Catarrh and Hellfiazz has added some more believable and great depth to the Orcs [shamanism, Cults, Relics, etc.] 6. Man5791: Crackerjack is to Humans as Man5791 is to Dwarves I personally feel.

Tom_Whiteman 949 Share Posted January 18, 2015 I'm Kraal, I like writing RP posts and Orcish lore. I also like coffee. Pm me if you're interested EDIT: I am seriously interested, being serious about me being seriously interested. Interested. EDIT DUEX: Dark Shaman lore, a fraction of all shaman lore, helped with Ikuras lore, did many player-made events, writing lengthy roleplay posts afterwards. ski_king3 0 Share Posted January 18, 2015 I'd be interested in the position. I wrote all the lore about Xan and the Golden Lance, an updated Xan lore that is being reviewed now and (I believe) is pretty well-received among the Lore Team, and a more light-hearted piece of lore about an addition to Shade magic that certainly won't be accepted, but is pretty funny and well-written (in my modest opinion). That being said, Heero wants this position so much more than me, knows all the lore, is a skilled writer and has proven his reliability as a staff member. You should really strongly consider him for the position.
Dizzy771 900 Share Posted January 18, 2015 Admittedly I have not really done much in terms of /creating/ lore before aside from in my events as ET.... but I believe I could fill the position quite nicely. I am active (perhaps not a huge concern, but it helps) friendly, creative, and I like to think knowledgeable on a fair amount of currently standing lore. I am a decent writer, perhaps not as fantastic as other current LM's, but I believe my other skills more then balance that fact. Also, it should probably come as no surprise that I am most knowledgeable in dwarvish related lore.
