The Hunt Begins

Far past the great trees of Fiandra lies a bustling camp, sounds of busy work as Kharajyr tend to their obligations and tasks. Duels commence, great beast-like felines clash, honing their abilities for the most honorable of tasks, the great hunt.  A Kharajyr strides from his tent, his fur thin and fine, shoulders broad, his swagger proud. Alor’Daro speaks aloud  Tonight we hunt!”. A pack swiftly forms, they arm themselves with scimitars, polearms, tridents and bolas. Soon the camp is left with nothing but silence; the hunt had begun.

The forests below were damp and filled with foliage, the Kha’ strode through its brush effortlessly, at home in such a mystical forest. It only took a few hours, and their prey was spotted… A lone Druid wandering about the dark forest; the Kharajyr growled in unison, and Alor’Daro signaled their charge, and so the Kha’ burst from the brush on all fours, they let out a vicious bluster. The Druid yelped in horror as the plethora of beasts charged her, she turned into a sprint, heading for the nearby farmlands. The chase had only lasted a few minutes, the band of Kha’ following the Druid directly into the farmlands. They soon cornered her, and rounded the rest of the citizens of the farmlands up; as the last Mali fell into place, the men of Ivory arrived with blade in hand. Alongside two Kha' joined them, an anger strewn along their feline features.

A dispute raged between both the Kha’ factions, discussion of abandoned allies, and illogical ideals. Silence soon fell upon both parties, the Va’kha released their prey, however their hunt would not go to waste. A battle broke out, metal clashed and blood was spilled. In only a few moments the battle ended, only the Tla’ and her mate were left; Ri'Rameethar knelt, spitting blood as he spoke,

“Remember… your roots, Kharajyr…”.

Tor’Raazhen reached down with a mighty fist, gripping Rameethar’s thin mane,

“Va’khajra is our roots, and the Va’kha  will return us to them!”,

Scimitar in hand, Raazhen cleaved the Kha’s head from his shoulders. He stood triumphant, bellowing into the skies, with Rameethar’s head in hand.

The Va’kha left the Tla’, wounded, but alive.

They ventured back to their camp behind their Alor’, and once more the sound of task and battle rung from their cliffside home.

And soon, they were to hunt again.

"They should come down from their floating island so we can end them for once, abomination on this world they are." Richard would say as he kicks a dead Kha into the Petrusian River.

He'd mutter afterwards, "I think I just polluted the river, damn it."

The 6-year-old Mali Annabelle had been a victim of the horrid, pointless, and gruesome attack on her mother and family. In the aftermath days, she quietly wondered to herself why the Kharajyr people, whom she called 'kitties,' were so deplorable, heartless, and bloodthirsty.

As the Va'Kha gather at the camp, Raazhen, the grey kha, lets out a bellowing roar, raising his serrated scimitar in the air in victory. The glory days would return to the Kharajyr, by blood and steel. And Alor'Daro would lead them there.

Lilliana lay in bed after the the event. Her body cold and weak from the deep gouges in her arm left from one of the kha. She had tried desperately to save all those in her land, to keep them all from being slaughtered. Her arm snaked around her daughter keeping her close. Slowly her ice blue eyes opened. Tired. Weak. She could not get enough energy to pull herself from bed. Giving up she just buried her face into her daughter's sleeping form. "I just want peace..." she murmurs.

Kardel hears of the news from reading a personal rendition of a newspaper he receives daily from a peasant boy who is kind enough to gather information and offer such services. He grunts, chuckling "Well. . .ah s'ppose dey be savages, bot can ye blame 'em? Animals get borin' ta 'unt affer sumetoime. . .descendants make much fairer game!" Kardel smiles, as he flips to the next page, drinking a fine glass of Faolain Silk.

"Much fairer game"

Kardel's lips curl into a smile.

"The result of herding beasts from their original pasture -- the Kharajyr are not of the natural four races. Why were they made to follow?" Preaches the Druid of Shadow upon his hearing of this news.
