I had that problem, my account was so old it was registered to an old hotmail that got hacked and shut down. I thought i would never be able to change my stupid 'matthew199876312' name. I found out that I could create an email the same as my old one through outlook the the same @domain at the end, idk if this will help you but ayy it's worth a shot
