What are the mali'ame?

Tan skinned mali with free spirits and fickle natures, commonly seen in areas of dense forestry.

That seems to be the world's perception of our race, and yet it has become our own perception of ourselves.

When seeking comfort in spirituality, many 'ame look towards the aspects of nature. Cernunnos and Cerridwen. This makes sense, as the green lady and horned man represent many values important to

'ame society. The flourishing of the forests we live in, the strength of nature, and the important of inherent balance.

Hesitation comes in the form of the "ownership" of these dieties. Many wood elves have no ties with the druidic order, nor do they have any desire to become involved in the commitment involved with that particular guild. Cerridwen and Cernunnos are synonymous with the Druidic circle. Hence, 'ame seeking faith are apprehensive to take on the teaching of the aspects, fearing the druidic circle will by association assume them to be an acolyte of their order.

Though take confidence. The Aspects are vast and omnipotent, the assumption that their followers must be druidic, or in the druidic order, is merely a social expectation made by us mortals. Mali'ame who follow the teachings of Cerridwen and Cernunnos are perfectly capable of having no ties to any druii circle. In fact, mali'ame worship of the aspects seems to differ from that of the druids in a few fundamental ways.

From my observations, the druids seem to see themselves as the harbingers of balance, taking it upon themselves to manually uphold the circle of life. 'Ame on the other hand simply see themselves as a part of this balance, taking care not to disrupt the forests around them, their duty is not to be the policemen of nature, but simply uphold an unspoken agreement with the mother Cerridwen, to be kind to her creations so they in turn can nurture wood elven life.

The mali'ame's stigma towards arcane magic is less extreme, save for the more devout wood elves with stronger ties to the druidic order. Magic is not outright forbidden as it would be in a druidic grove. Instead, it is treated with caution. The arcane arts are tools to be used, and just like swords, bows, hammers and axes, they have their benefits, and their dangers. Fire magic is forbidden for obvious reasons and mind magic is strictly regulated. However, should the use of a magic not bring harm to the natural balance of life in the wood elven homeland, the 'ame believe that it will not anger the Aspects.

The aspects themselves are an enigma, but their purpose is easy to understand. Times like these require the mali'ame to band together with a common faith, and with our people's shared desire for the balance of natural life, plentiful crops and good hunting, the Green Lady and Horned Man seem to be the best faith to have.

Dwyn reads over the notice with a soft smile, shifting his staff over to his shoulder as he puts his whole attention on this, he finds the article saying everything needed and finds no reason to add to it. Slipping it into his bag, Dwyn returns to his tree-home and sits down to meditate.

Lyrell smiles and with a nod speaks to a random stranger that he stopped in the street.

"You smell that? It's the smell of progress."

Lyrell then takes a large whiff of the surrounding aroma and takes a step backward.

"A- And it seems manure."

Elorna allows herself a small smile, tilting her head. "Well... the theology may not be quite perfect, but it is a lovely start."
