Greetings Denizens of Athera,

Today marks a new day for the Development of Lord of the Craft. Today we say farewell and thank you for all their hard work to two of our Developers; Sporadic and Telanir. They have left us with nothing but good wishes for the future and we wish them the best of luck in whatever they decide to put their minds to. With this in mind you might expect something of a statement as to where we’re going from here and today I am here to deliver to such expectations.

When I started the server back in 2012 I never thought I would be in the position and am now, but am glad have an opportunity to be here. I started becoming more involved in our community over a year and a half ago after being made a Junior Technician under Sporadic, and have loved every moment of it. Eventually through the creation of content for you guys to enjoy I have gotten to where I am now. I look forward to working with the community in order to continue creating fun and reliable plugins.

To preface the plans for the future of the Lord of the Craft I should make my vision perfectly clear so one may understand the motives and logic behind our future progress. Our focus moving into the future is to create plugins that are easy to use and fun for players without being restrictive to roleplay. We wish to use plugins to enhance and enrich roleplay for the playerbase in fun new ways and bring a unique flare to the Lord of the Craft.

Using this logic we’ll be moving forward to adjust existing plugins and create new ones and we hope you’ll be just as excited as we are for the new future we’re heading towards.

Moving forward from here the Development Team will be very slightly shifting focus onto other issues. We’re short-handed as of this post but this does not mean simply nothing will occur; rather we will have to take some of our side projects and put them on hold to get the most pressing objectives down.

The first goal we will be pushing towards is the Lord of the Craft 1.8.1 update, headed by Tythus and myself. This is something the Development Team has been working on for several weeks now and is nearing completion. It will become our primary goal in the upcoming days and weeks. We’re striving to make the transition as smooth as possible as well as adding a few new additions and changes to our existing plugin structure to provide a better experience for players all around.

The expected date for this release is unknown, but we’ll be updating you as we grow closer to completion. We know you are all eager to try out features within 1.8.1 and we’re working our hardest.

After this is done we will be focusing all efforts towards the promised magic plugin. Dgco and I have taken it unto ourselves to create a fully modular magic plugin, that will be coherent with the server’s lore, include subtypes, and many more features for both players and staff to use. Once again, there is no release date for this, but we will put every effort into rolling it out after 1.8.1. We are aware of the long history surrounding promises of the Infamous ‘Magic Plugin’ but we intend to put them to rest once and for all.

Once this is finished and the two major promises we have made are fulfilled we will be taking a step back to focus on repairing minor things, adding small features to plugins and professions. We’ll be working toward making the current plugin setup friendlier for all players and as enjoyable as possible. Once stable with this we will begin to set up plans for larger content projects for the Lord of the Craft.

Thank you for reading,

Thank you Kowaman and the Development team. I hope you can prosper after loosing two members that benefited the server greatly with their contribution to our server, and I have high hopes for the future

Perhaps the change in leadership, however sad the circumstances may be, will lead to a newfound energy and drive in the server's development. I anticipate great things.

So question, is the development team now also the tech team or is it separate?

Also I like this idea, and good luck with it.

Thank you, Kowa. I'm glad to see that the Tech Team is holding up after two beloved members of the community leaving in one foul swoop, good luck!

The Tech team was renamed to the Development team and the old Development team does not exist. (Most coders are given the title of 'Developers' when making software, it makes the most sense to call them such as they aren't really technicians that work on the physical server.)

Thank you for all the tech's hard work and contribution to the server and congratulations to you Kowman for your position of head tech, though I wish to ask you are not going to use the magic plugin Telinir coded for almost a year on or scrapping and starting your own?
