did you know toxic was a term coined by Riot Games the creators of League of Legends to describe behavior that

caused others to behave in such a way because the behavior was malicious and put other people in a bad mood and thusly the cycle continued with people acting in a shitty way towards one another, thus toxicity because the behavior infects others and poisons them!
