“The Mubarizuns”

==========================================================

LIyMev3.png

Called upon by the Caliph to protect the Children of Allah and the Jewel of the Caliphate, the Mubarizun are the champions of the City of Al-Dirakh. They stand as role models for the Qalasheen and must be willing to risk their lives for the greater good.

The Mubarizun offers those with bravery and skill to put their skills to a noble cause. Foreigners in the Caliphate who choose not to convert can evade the Foreign tax by joining the Mubarizun though it should be noted they must first be oathed.

While individual strength is important, the Mubarizun push themselves to learn as much as they can - whether that be in the realms of politics, culture, language, or science. While off duty, a guard of the Mubarizun might be in Al-Dirakh’s library studying or enjoying a smoke at the hoo'kah lounge among comrades and citizens. The Mubarizun follows a strict code once oathed.

==========================================================

Virtues of the Qalasheen

==========================================================

To protect the Qalasheen from interior and exterior threats.

To protect the Caliph, Allah’s appointed leader for the Qalasheen.

To protect the Faith of the Qalasheen.

To protect and share knowledge gathered for the benefit of the Qalasheen.

To show no fear when facing the Infidel.

To respect those in command.

To know restraint when dealing with the foolish.

To take personal responsibility for any wrong doings.

To present one’s self in the best way possible.

To pursue knowledge into old age.

To know humility.

To avoid the gossip of prideful men.

Oathing

An un-oathed shall be oathed after they have completed their basic studies. He will be orally tested by an Amir or all of them at once. If he passes he will then be tested in weaponry by going out on a Monster hunt. If he is victorious he shall be nominated to be oathed. The oathing is to be done by the Caliph and an Amir. It is not required that all three of the Amirs be present.

==========================================================

Ranks

==========================================================

The Caliph - As head of both the Caliphate and the faith of the Qalasheen, the Caliph has the final say in all matters of the Mubarizun. His involvement is generally indirect however and is typically handled by his Amirs.

The Amir - The Mubarizun is led by the three Amirs, their power is split evenly and equally. In the native tongue, Amir translates to Commander. The members of the Mubarizun are to obey the Amir’s orders and requests, their orders can only be overruled by the Caliph. Only the Caliph can appoint new Amirs.

The Faris - The officers of the Mubarizun, a Faris is a soldier who has shown great wisdom in times of great pressure and has certain leadership qualities. They are chosen by the Amirs after extensive talks and debates, and are usually veterans of the Mubarizun. Each Faris will lead his own group of Mameluks.

The Mameluke - The vast majority of the Mubarizun will be made up of Mamelukes. The Mameluke is the first rank after being oathed, which is granted to those Talebs who have passed their tests to become official men of the Mubarizun.

The Taleb - The Taleb are the new recruits of the Mubarizun, or the unoathed, and are required to be oathed by the oathing standards set. If the taleb is not oathed, they may not receive any additional ranking. Talebs who are looking to work around the foreign tax must wait to be oathed.

Further more, additional ranks may be created upon needing expansion of the topic of the military’s organization. The decision is to be made by the three Amirs.

==========================================================

Sub-Rankings

==========================================================

Mwahtemed (Quartermaster) - The Mwahtemed is an title given to those who show capability of doing such jobs as making sure the other soldiers are equipped enough to do their tasks. Specializing in the organization of arms, ranging from weaponry to armor, the task of the Mwahtemed is to assure that their fellow soldiers are equipped.

Muhandis (Engineer) - The Muhandis specializes in the use of military siege weaponry, such as siege crossbows, battering rams, catapults, and trebuchets.

Jarraah (Surgeon) - The Jarraah is the lifeline of the military by making sure the injured and wounded do not die with the use of advanced medical knowledge, vital to the job.

Tekdeebi (disciplinarian) - The Tekdeebi is the role that ensures that the Mubarizun are kept in line. This role is the backbone of the military and is vital to keeping pecking order enforced.

==========================================================

Auxiliary Rankings

==========================================================

In the means of military operation, there are several auxiliary rankings that are given to the soldiers who excel in those roles. The determination of these soldiers are shown through regular training and show of character traits.

==========================================================

Skills

==========================================================

Camel Riding - Mubarizun who think they would excel on a Camel will be offered Camel riding lessons.

Left-handed Archery - Each oathed soldier of the Mubarizun is to be trained in archery through the traditional ways of the Qalasheen. The traditional use of the left-handed archery being vital to the survival of the bow-wielder.

==========================================================

Armory

==========================================================

With the vast amounts of weaponry and armor types at the Qalasheen’s disposal, they tend to use more traditional means of arms. However it is not uncommon for a Mubarizun to specialize in an “outsider” weapon. The Caliph Faiz Kharadeen had ventured long in the outside realms and brought with him a variety of foreign weapons that have been studied and replicated over time through trial and error.

Spears - One of the more common forms of weaponry that the Mubarizun has inside of its arsenal, the spear is regarded as a versatile weapon. The spear is often a tough, wooden staff with a pointed, ferrum tipped end, sharp enough to impale various types of creatures, including humans. The spears can be used on foot,on horseback, or even to be thrown.

Sabre - The traditional sabre, much like a sword but with a curved blade, makes it a common choice to be used. It is much like a straight sword, but allowing a more fluid swing, because of its physique. A variant such as the cavalry sabre is also used upon horseback, allowing the occasional camel rider to easily cut down their foe.

Scimitar - Another traditional sword variant being the scimitar is also used amongst the soldiers. It’s close relation to the broadsword makes it another commonly used weapon, due to its extended length and single edged - curved blade.

Khopesh - The khopesh is a hooked weapon, with blunt edges. It is entirely made of ferrum or other various metals. The tip, or end of the hook is commonly pointed, or sharp, but also comes with blunted variants. The khopesh excels as a weapon in which can bypass the defense of a regular shield, by hooking over it’s edges to the target behind.

Hasta - The hasta has proven to be a popular weapon among the Qalasheen based upon its effective spear design. The hasta is a double edged halberd variant, with both ends of the staff of the spear being able to be used in combat. On the upper end, the hasta has a ferrum double-blade, in which extends out beyond the staff of the spear. The double-blade of the hasta’s upper end then reach back to meet at the top with the shape of the upper half of a broad sword's blade. The bottom end of the hasta has the normal spear tip on it’s end. The staff length of the hasta varies, allowing easier usage by different sized soldiers. The hasta can be used as either a one handed weapon or a two handed weapon.

Shields - The traditional wooden tower and buckler shield esque shields are also used in the military. The shields often vary in size and are commonly covered with either plate metal, or leather hides to ensure protection. Ranging from bucklers to tower shields, the traditional usage of them in combat make the trained soldier lethal in one handed combat.

Armor - Gambesons, Lamellar, and the occasionally rare plate armor are used amongst the soldiers. The armors encompass the usage of ferrum, tanned leather, animal hides, wool, and the such. When not needed in combat, the soldiers do not wear their armors, as the heat of the desert sky would bake them to a burnt crisp.
