Your View: A New Map?

To all who are saying changing map /alone/ will not solve the server's problems, you are right.But we can all agree that Athera is not ideal at all.

 

But in the last few weeks, I and many other GMs who want progress and action have started to work through these issues. The war rules, regions, etc. But some of these changes require a map change to implement easily, and that is what we hope to accomplish by doing this.

I don't mind a map change, it will piss me off if I see history repeat itself for the billionth time. Something no one on this server seems to understand.

If everyone is willing to abandon Athera then why don't we first do something and see what happens;

 

Take the current Athera map and port it somewhere, then remove every city/town and set racial capitals in completely different places with fast travel? The map is already built so tidying it up completely wouldn't take much time.

 

Thales was sort of the "MC gen freebuild baby." Did people enjoy that map? Maybe do that again?

Second time posting, but I feel that due to summer I understand the short notice. However, even though the new map will most likely be temp I would like the luxury of having it nice enough that by the time we arrive to this new map we want to stay on it and it becomes a Full on map instead of a temporary one. Feel me?

Can someone link Zeros map btw, I can't seem to find it, also if you guys are still working on Heatmap I think that may make people want to stay near nation capitals more often by making the less populated places become overrun with super powerful mobs. Basically warding anyone off if they don't have a deathwish.

The different islands and the vast waters make it great for naval RP, if any nations want to get into that.

Yeah this was my FIRST map and just using that as an example. The other one is a lot better. and from who that have seen it said it would fit. So im waiting till its time to show.

If we do create a new map, I highly suggest allowing the community input as Shift did, but let it go further in detail for the playerbase and allow a 'small committee' to be made for the map, I.E. Racial Leaders and large factions have a member or two in the 'small committee' for the new map. This would give an overall feel of the playerbase's wants for the new map and allow the map maker to work closely with people who know what the others want.

 

P.S.: As working with say, 15 people on feedback/what should we add?, is a lot easier than a server of a few 10 thousands.

To be honest, I don't think I take any of your opinions seriously either, seeing how ridiculously fickle you people can be and you all seem to only choose what's best for themselves and not for this server. I don't need a crystal ball to say that you'll change your minds eventually after the map's release.

Everytime we get a map change, this happens. And we end up in a vicious endless cycle.

So go ahead and make your server worse, see if I care. :)
