Means to Prosperity

The Royal Chancery:

This following document was drafted by Publius Bracchus and Arik Vanir on the 1st of Sun’s Smile, 1510, in reaction to Haelun’or’s recent resistance to authority. It was submitted to the Chancery for publishing, after its revision and assessment by Lord Guy de Bar, and issued upon the 8th of the Sun’s Smile, 1510.

Publius Bracchus on ‘The Means to Prosperity’:

Through effective governance, a state’s structure is created.

But this structure is only maintained and improved upon with law and order.

As men of Oren, we have only felt our fortunes grow greater in the past decades, thanks to our accomplishments on and off the field. This prosperity is a direct result of our administration’s prudent governance over the realm. Such opulence cannot be obtained without tribulations, however; each and everyone one of us feels the pains of growth. This pain is felt as we police and expand our vassals and new territories, as our frontiers become overrun by desperate foreigners seeking opportunity, and worst of all, inflicted by the criminals and revolutionaries bred within our borders.

These miscreants come in all shapes and sizes, whether it be the man who swipes valuables from a merchant's stall, or those who would turn on the great nation that has propped them up to such heights. We all know such creatures exist, and forever will - those too slothful to achieve power or wealth through any means but treachery, or too craven to undertake the  burdens of good, Canonist morals. But these piles of filth are only washed away by Oren’s great might, and their remains made into the fertilizer in which good men grow to be great men.

We forget so often in times of peace, the pains and lengths that have been undergone to achieve war’s greatest reward. We forget even more quickly, that danger does not just come in the form of an opposing army.

It comes in the form of lies, theft, and betrayal.

Lies - like those spat out of the mouths of the disgusting agitators in Haelun’or, and into the open hand in which Oren has used to hoist the city and her people to great heights, DESPITE the assassination of our nation's founder and first king, Andrik Vydra.

Theft - very similar to that in which can be observed by your common crook, who takes from others, DESPITE our provisions that we have generously given freely to support their useless, disgusting existence. An existence similar to that of Visaj family, who despite becoming prominent in an opportunistic fashion in Haelun’or after the leadership being driven from the city, wishes to strip the city from Oren for even greater personal benefit.

Betrayal - as in anyone who works against Oren’s will, DESPITE Oren’s will being the betterment of all those subject to it.

But has this kept our people from rising greater? Certainly not. Instead, in their evil acts, they simply reveal their presence, and aid us in our effort to rid ourselves of the pestilence that is the criminal elements of our nation. They remain in our grasp, awaiting the day we finally chose to throw them to the floor and crush them under our boots.

Though it may not be safe to hold snakes in your hand, our legal system has been blessed with an iron fist, impervious to damage, that smashes those who are so quick to abandon both their faith and the state. One that sweeps aside the leeches that would drain the life from good men and women of Oren and, most of all, finds purpose in guiding our people. The very fist that protects Oren’s domestic people is also offered  out frequently in good faith to our vassals and neighbors.

These are the neighbors and vassals that are Athera-wide powers, not via self determination, but rather through association and support of Oren. Even with the Horde of Dunamis melted in the heat of battle, simply attempting to strip our roads of wealth. This group was the sponge that sucked dry Dwarven coffers, and demanded the emptying of High Elven pockets for any military support. Instead of paying off these thieves at the expense of our people, we drove them into their grave, and let them drown in dirt for their immense greed. Our Reformed Kingdom’s short history has proven, time and time again, that those subservient to the will of man shall flourish alongside of him, whilst those fiendish leeches who seek to topple the highest of thrones shall only be crushed under its immense weight.

With a legal system that is guided by those like our Lord Justicar, Jan de Savoie, and enforced by our fine military, we fail to have our course upset, even with those agitating for independence. Thanks must especially be lended to the men of the North and Adria, who have worked zealously as of late in Haelun’or, stationed far from their own homes, without complaint, stamping out the fires of anarchy taking shape as ignorant High Elven nobles, in their frenzied stir, seek to revert to their racist and seclusionist ways.

It is no coincidence that the city has fallen on hard times, attempting to abandon law as a means to power, when Orenic laws themselves remains the greatest the means to prosperity.

Where they are cursed with indecision, pettiness and aimlessness, attributes given to them by their useless leaders, we have been blessed with capable men of influence, like our current Military Governor Adrian de Bar, who has fervently destroyed the anarchist  swine running about Haelun’or, who make life miserable for their fellow innocent citizens. With Lieutenant-Governor Tom of Kaedrin and Inspector-General Paul acting with him, there is no chance our men will find themselves outwitted or outmaneuvered.

It is a tribute to the racial brilliance of man that we work in their interests, despite this turn against us. These recent times pay testament that nothing will stop Orenian traditions from spreading prosperity and stability across Athera, and with our only opposition being the corrupt, godless, and unjust - how could it not?

August smiles the sun's smile and clenches his bony fist, noting in dismay that it was not made of iron, like that of the Orenian legal system.
