As you enter the church, you hear a soft voice call out to you. A nun in a clean, white habit waves to you from the inside of the confession booth.

"Privej!" she says. "Are you here to confess your sins? Perhaps I can help, da?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OOC:

Confess your character's sins to Sister Lorina. And/or ask her for advice about your character's problems.

All races welcome!

Vika wanted to do this the other day, but kept being interrupted by small children, instead she cowers away, her faith dying.

Lorina gestures for Viktoriya to join her in the confession booth.

"If you are having problem, I want to help."

A rather short dark elf walks into the confessional and sits down, giving a sideways glance to the person beyond the veil. He relaxes somewhat as he becomes enshrouded in darkness, and he begins, "I figure I might as well get this off my chest since I'm trying to be a better person. I've lured, cocooned, and fed, two people to my spider. I intend to do this more as normal vermin aren't quite cutting it. Any suggestions on how to..not...give in?" The dark elf seems to sigh, his expression strained in moral conflict.

Arik Vanir wipes a tear as he enters, sitting down.

"I was never nice to my stupid nephew, Harald Vanir II, before he was savagely eaten by wolves on the roadside, cold and alone. Do you think God will forgive me, Little Crow?"

He wipes another tear for Harald, and hopes he found peace, wherever he ended up...

The dark elf seems to sigh, his expression strained in moral conflict.

"Oh, my poor child... You have committed a very grave sin already. Murder is a stain that is not easily washed away. I am proud of you for coming here and confessing to me. You have made an important first step. I hope you stay on the path of righteousness and become a godly man in time. But - as it stands, you have much to repent for."

Lorina sighs a little, gathering her thoughts. "My question is - why do you keep such a dangerous and terrible thing? This beast has already tasted man's flesh and blood. By all accounts, it is a wicked monster. You have committed the darkest of sins by luring people into its clutches. The only way to atone for your crimes, I think, is to kill the spider."

"I know this is hard to hear. It is your beloved pet, I am sure. But a person's life and salvation are worth far more than a simple pet. Do the godly thing. Eradicate this monster you've created - and then turn yourself over to the authorities. Serve your time in jail. Think on your crimes and repent. And maybe then you will truly become a good person."

"Our Creator is a being of infinite love and infinite mercy. But he only forgives those who seek him." Lorina replies, smiling gently at Arik through the confessional screen. "Pray, repent, and He will hear you. Ask for forgiveness and you shall receive it. The quality of mercy is not strained, Arik. It falls like rain from Heaven."

"Go forth and be a kind man from now on."

Constantine waddles into the confessional booth. Once he and the nun are comfortably seated, he states quite plainly, "I released Iblees," before waiting for her response.

The dark elf chuckles lightly, pausing to reflect upon his past actions, "Why do I keep such a thing? By all normal scenarios I should have killed the spider when I had the chance. That was how it started. Trying to prove myself to the orcs, defeating this spider one night as it tried to kill me, and then...it obeyed me. I do not kill it for deep down we are one in the same. Predators. I was left for dead and rose to become strong. At first I believed that I could be strong by taling the lives of others, but is not strength but madness. I found a certain, entertainment in it. Having spoken with others at length about this sort of philosophy, I found it is not what I sought. I could kill my spider yes, but it does not replace the lives. It does not make the memories fade. It is part of I and I part of it. Both of us will live in suffering our sins, as I cannot kill apart of myself without losing the rest."

A time after all other participants would depart from his station in the confessional, the transient knight Ser Raide of Ashford would enter the booth with the intention to exude his uncertain feelings; partially comforted by the divine atmosphere of the church that towers over him.

"Sister," Raide would greet Lorina; the young man's tone hampered by a dejective state of mind and rasped by both his travels and the confines of his iron helmet that he chooses to keep atop his head, "I have come with a great burden, aligned with the bickering nature of God's patron children. I took up the Lord of Purity, Tahariae's, oath and seek to use his light for the glory of His lordship and for the sake of preserving God's ancient lands. Yet, the enlightenment of an Aengul is not enough to dull my bittered view of others whom had taken up the vow of another patron. I find myself wanting of the brotherhood of all who served those under God, Clergy or Paladin, yet I cannot stand the presence of the Ascended. The only one I have come to know..." The knight pauses for a moment, as if to choose his words carefully before continuing, "... has dishonored me in a personal manner. I have found an inner-turmoil when faced with such a situation, for he is bound in marriage to a priestess of Tahariae that I vowed to protect. Even before I knew of my lady's vows to him, I did not hold good feelings for the sages of Aerial. I find their actions, as described in tomes of the past, to be cowardly, and I feel this shall corrupt my lady's very soul if his influence becomes too great."

"I am lost to this matter. I cannot challenge this Ascended to a duel to correct the situation and to restore my honor, for I fear spilling the blood of one loyal to a patron of God is sinful. Yet, I find myself distant from the priestess I vow to protect when he is near - and he is always near. What is there to do, sister, when all options I know to choose only mean to further taint my name?"

Neero smiles and visits his Aunt Lorina and looks around spotting the strange box.

"Hi Aunty! How are you ? Can we go out and see the castle with legs? Ummm umm.. I wanna learn how to make Aunty happier! How can I ?"  He bounces excitedly in the seat.

Talpoo the ferret would sniff around the area and give out squeaks as it was talking.

Constantine waddles into the confessional booth. Once he and the nun are comfortably seated, he states quite plainly, "I released Iblees," before waiting for her response.

Lorina blinks, peering at the man through the screen.

"I doubt that," she replies. "Is not good to play tricks on a Sister of the Faith. Go pray twice a day for three weeks and think on your actions."

The dark elf chuckles lightly, pausing to reflect upon his past actions, "Why do I keep such a thing? By all normal scenarios I should have killed the spider when I had the chance. "My poor child. I understand why you have wandered down this dark path. You lacked self-worth. You failed to recognize the fragment of Holy Light that lives within you. You are a child of the Creator. A work of art hand-made by the Highest and Most Holy. Just by living - you are a miracle in and of yourself. You do not need to prove your worth to anyone."

"Killing the spider might not erase your sin. Indeed, your sin will be a black mark on your soul throughout eternity. But by killing it, you are repenting for your past actions. You are making sure that the spider can never feast on mortal flesh and blood again. You are saving lives by killing the beast."

"Just by being here - in my confessional - you are taking steps toward repentance and salvation. Continue the journey. Pray. Seek forgiveness. Seek peace. Kill the monster and seek justice for those it killed."

((OOC: Lorina doesn't realize you're an elf, so she's answering as if you were human.))

A slender dark elf  stands near the pews for a moment, looking up to the windows and altars. She turns her head, looking to the confessional. For a brief moment, she smiles, before pushing the curtain aside and sitting down. In the darkness, her smile holds, as she begins to speak, "Tell me, Sister. Does God fault the wolf for devouring the sheep? Is it a sin to follow one's own nature, even if that nature is evil? I am cursed, and I have lived a cursed existence for almost three hundred years. I have tricked, beguiled, and killed more men than I can count. Yet I can not help it. I would starve otherwise, and I would die. Is that what God wishes, for me to die?" She falls silent after this, but begins to speak once more,"My Mother lied to me. And perhaps her mother before her. And I have lied to my children, passing upon this curse. I hate it. Yet, again, I am compelled. Why has God forsaken me, condemning me to exist this way?"

"Ah, this is a matter of some difficulty for me," Lorina replies after hearing the man's lengthy confession. "I am unfamiliar with the aengul worshipping sects. I had a friend like you once. She swore herself to the aengul Xan. She was a good woman of the Faith, though. I will do my very best to answer accurately, though I pray you forgive me for any errors I might make."

"From my understanding - you are guilty of two sins. The first of these is jealousy. I could not help but notice your choice of words regarding this priestess. You called her 'my' lady. You have, perhaps unconsciously, taken ownership of her. And I cannot help but think that her marriage vows awakened some jealousy in your heart. Especially since she is wed to one of your hated rivals. You swore to protect her - but I think you had ulterior motives in mind when you took this oath. In your heart, this lady belongs to you. That is why you have made yourself responsible for her morals and faith."

"The truth is that she is a grown woman - and a priestess. It is not your job to worry about her faith. It is HER job to keep the Faith strong. It is HER job to remain moral and steady. You cannot protect her virtue. Only she can do that. It is her job to resist any moral failings. She knew this when she took on the mantle of priestess."

"You need to trust her to remain strong. Let go of your jealousy. Let go of the ownership you declared on her."

"You can still protect her and stand at her side - but stand as an equal. And let her be her own woman."

"Your second sin, as I see it, is hatred. I commend you for your scholarship of history, but remember - the past is in the past. And people can change! The Ascended today are not the Ascended of yesteryear. They have the power to change. To do good. You should not judge a person by what his or her ancestors did. I am not my father or my grandfather. I am me. And that is what matters. Let go of your grudge. Open your heart to the possibilities of the future. Do not limit yourself by clinging to the past."

"Of course we can see the castle with legs, dear one! Do not worry, you always make me happy. Just keep being your sweet self. Let's learn more about the Creator together, da?"
