What Do You Think?

I recently had a heated discussion over the topic of whether being gay was a choice or not with a few other friends. What do you all think, honestly.

I personally think that really discerning something like that is a much deeper thing than we can really understand at this time. Is someone born a genius? A killer? Is someone born a nerd? A transexual? 

 

Those're things we cant really answer, and personally  I think they dont matter in the end. People 're People 're people.

As an open and completely out homosexual, I don't quite understand the arguments about it being a choice. I suppose it could be for some people, as I can only speak from my own experience in the end. But I'd personally never outwardly call it a choice, I know it sure as hell wasn't for me. I've had heated discussions about this topic before, I concluded it was easier to just let people believe what they want to believe. Changing someone's mind on a subject such as that /usually/ doesn't happen.

I don't really think it matters, if you're gay you're gay if you're straight you're straight etc etc. But when it comes to the argument I'd just say its a natural part of life that happens everywhere, with animals etc. So honestly, everyone I've talked to who was gay didn't say it was a choice, but that they were just gay to start with, so I take their word for it.

In some cases the environment hasn't been the best for being gay, as many people still are highly against it, maybe a dad or mom.. Other friends or family, or strangers. Growing up gay, especially through highschool could definitely be rough and I don't think it would be a desirable choice in some cases, so I do think people just develop gay, whether from a very young age or birth, but in my eyes there is no shame in loving the same gender, it should be embraced just as much as being straight is.
