The Grand Merchant

All over Urguan, ballot boxes would be set up with a stack of papers on a table, with a scribe sitting on the other end. A piece of parchment would be nailed to a wooden post near the table.

“This will hereby an official notice, signed by Grand Confidant Azaghal Doomforged. The Grand Kingdom of Urguan is hereby seeking a new Grand Merchant, a role most honorable and esteemed in the Kingdom. The position will be chosen after candidate's fill out the ensuing application for the position. This notice was drafted on the 16th of The Deep Cold, in the year 1530. Let it be known that all Dwedmar may apply for this position.”

Below the message would also be nailed a brief summary of the job, with instructions on how to apply for it.

“The Grand Merchant” oversees the economy. They are responsible for maintaining a positive balance into the Dwarven Kingdom and also ensure sure that the population pays their taxes, if implemented. The Grand Merchant is charged with the keeping the Grand Kingdom’s vault which includes performing tasks such as: ensuring the stockpile is stored, organised, and secure. The stockpile is for general use of the Kingdom and for trade with other nations. The vault is for storage of the wealth of our nation, seldom taken from. It is the duty of the Grand Merchant to visit frequently with our allies and other states of interest to conduct trade agreements of resources in need. It is also the duty of the Grand Merchant to define the pricing of all kingdom’s goods, services of the kingdom, homes, mining permits, and wages; taxes and tariffs if implemented. Therefore, it is imperative that this dwarf be mina-wise.

Why should you be chosen: I wish to help Urguan in any way I can, including economically. I also feel as if I can do a great job in this position and really help others around the kingdom. I also enjoy trade and other things involving the economy. I have run two shops and both have successfully brought in minas. I have run two taverns which have also brought in lots of money. I have experience with leadership positions as well which means I could put that to use when dealing with certain matters involving this job. I can connect with people to allow for bargaining in trades and such. I feel as if I could do a lot to help the Grand Kingdom.

Previous Experience: I previously owned a tavern and I currently help manage The Dancing Igor. I have owned two shops before and both have been profitable.

Not only do I have the skills needed for the office of Grand Merchant, it is something I have striven for. My demeanor is such that can create good relations with potential trade partners, and allies. Additionally, my previous positions have entailed the selling, taxing, and revoking of homes within the city, as required in the position description.
