Personality

Spoiler

"The INFJ personality type is very rare, making up less than one percent of the population, but they nonetheless leave their mark on the world. As Diplomats (NF), they have an inborn sense of idealism and morality, but what sets them apart is the accompanying Judging (J) trait – INFJs are not idle dreamers, but people capable of taking concrete steps to realize their goals and make a lasting positive impact."

Soft-spoken, has very strong opinions and will fight tirelessly for an idea he believes in. Edward is decisive and strong-willed, but will rarely use that energy for personal gain – Edward will act with creativity, imagination, conviction and sensitivity not to create advantage, but to create balance. Egalitarianism and karma are very attractive ideas to Edward, and will tend to believe that nothing would help the world so much as using love and compassion to soften the hearts of tyrants.

Strengths

Spoiler

Creative – Combining a vivid imagination with a strong sense of compassion, he uses his creativity to resolve not technical challenges, but human ones. He enjoys finding the perfect solution for someone he cares about, and this strength makes him an excellent counsellor and advisor.

Insightful – Seeing through dishonesty and disingenuous motives, he steps past manipulation and sales tactics and into a more honest discussion. He sees how people and events are connected, and is able to use that insight to get to the heart of the matter.

Inspiring and Convincing – Speaking in human terms, not technical, Edward has a fluid, inspirational writing style that appeals to the inner idealist in their audience. INFJs can even be astonishingly good orators, speaking with warmth and passion, if they are proud of what they are speaking for.

Decisive – His creativity, insight and inspiration are able to have a real impact on the world, as he is able to follow through on their ideas with conviction, willpower, and the planning necessary to see complex projects through to the end. Edward doesn't just see the way things ought to be, but he acts on those insights.

Determined and Passionate – When Edward comes to believe that something is important, he pursues that goal with a conviction and energy that can catch even his friends and loved ones off guard. Edward will rock the boat if he has to, something not everyone likes to see, but his passion for their chosen cause is an inseparable part of his personality.

Altruistic – These strengths are used for good, has strong beliefs and take the actions that they do not because they are trying to advance themselves, but because they are trying to advance an idea that they truly believe will make the world a better place.

Weaknesses

Spoiler

Sensitive When someone challenges or criticizes his principles or values, they are likely to receive an alarmingly strong response. He is highly vulnerable to criticism and conflict, and questioning his motives is the quickest way to their bad side.

Extremely Private –Edward tends to present himself as the culmination of an idea. This is partly because he believes in this idea, but also because he is extremely private when it comes to his own personal life, using this image to keep himself from having to truly open up, even to close friends. Trusting a new friend can be even more challenging for Edward.

Perfectionist – His is all but defined by his pursuit of ideals. While this is a wonderful quality in many ways, an ideal situation is not always possible – in politics, in business, in romance – and Edward too often drops or ignores healthy and productive situations and relationships, always believing there might be a better option down the road.

Always Needs to Have a Cause – He gets so caught up in the passion of their pursuits that any of the cumbersome administrative or maintenance work that comes between himself and the ideal he sees on the horizon is deeply unwelcome. He likes to know that he are taking concrete steps towards his goals, and if routine tasks feel like they are getting in the way, or worse yet, there is no goal at all, they will feel restless and disappointed.

Can Burn Out Easily – His passion, poor patience for routine maintenance, tendency to present himself as an ideal, and extreme privacy tend to leave Edward with few options for letting off steam. Edward is likely to exhaust himself in short order if he doesn’t find a way to balance his ideals with the realities of day-to-day living.

Relationships

Spoiler

When it comes to romantic relationships, Edward takes the process of finding a partner seriously. Not ones for casual encounters, he instead looks for depth and meaning in their relationships. He will take the time necessary to find someone they truly connect with – once he has found that someone, his relationships will reach a level of depth and sincerity that most people can only dream of. (Edward, of course, is only 13 years old, so this section will not become relevant until maturity)

There is a running theme with Edward, and that is a yearning for authenticity and sincerity – in his activities, romantic relationships, and his friendships. Edward is unlikely to go for friendships of circumstance, like social circles or talking to people in a group, where the only thing they really have in common is a day-to-day familiarity. Rather, Edward seeks out people who share his passions, interests and ideologies, people with whom he can explore philosophies and subjects that he believes are truly meaningful.

From the start, it can be a challenge to get to know Edward, as he is very private, even enigmatic. He doesn’t readily share his thoughts and feelings, not unless he is comfortable, and since those thoughts and feelings are the basis for Edward’s friendships, it can take time and persistence to get to know him. Meanwhile, he is very insightful and has a particular knack for seeing beyond others’ facades, interpreting intent and compatibility quickly and easily, and weeding out those who don’t share the depth of his idealism.

Conclusion

Spoiler

Few are as sensitive and mysterious as Edward. His imagination and empathy make him someone who not only cherishes his integrity and deeply held principles but, unlike many other idealistic people, is also capable of turning those ideals into plans, and executing them.

Yet, Edward is likely to be easily tripped up in areas where idealism and determination are more of a liability than an asset. Whether it is navigating interpersonal conflicts, confronting unpleasant facts, pursuing self-realization, or finding a career path that aligns well with your intricate inner core, he may face numerous challenges that at times can even make you question who he really is.

Family

Spoiler

Edward does not know his family or where they are; his mother died when he was three and all he has of his family is a Rose Pendant made of silver. When Edward’s mother died he was taken in by his uncle, Richard. Richard was a cruel and a drunkard, he beat him when he had fun, hit him when he explored and in a drunken spur he slammed his head against a wall, causing him to have the scar he has today. Richard called him a bastard and blamed him for his mother’s death and his families ruin.

Richard sent him away to an Abbey of the Canon where he had an equally terrible life; he was scolded when he acted without virtue or when he spoke without permission. They went so far as to whip him when he picked an apple from a tree. The priests tried to spread their perfectionist ideologies to him, however this did not work and this has shaped who he is and his reluctance to trust clergy members and people overall.

Life after the Abbey and Richard

Spoiler

Edward’s tale is a sorrowful one, and one that has shaped who he is today. After leaving the Abbey Edward would go onto being homeless and starving, for two years he suffered this, receiving only spite and bitterness because of his situation. This explains Edward’s introvertism and his reluctance to get too close to someone from fear of them leaving him. Edward likes to daydream to himself; he loves to be away from his world so that he might live a peaceful life where the terrors of war do not wash over the land like a disease or famine. On one occasion Edward was accused of being possessed due to his daydreaming and imagination and was subsequently whipped and beaten, this atrocious act was committed by a noble and this explains his hate for mostly all noblemen.

Edward after being whipped and beaten made his way to the nearby Felsen grove, where he met a Druid by the name of Taynuel. He clothed him, fed him and listened to his story. Taynuel allowed him to stay at the grove until he could find his family, that never happened and after Taynuel brought him to the Laureh’lin grove, otherwise known as The Mother Grove. From there Edward had many happy years, he read, he laughed, and he felt. And therefore Edward’s personality changed dramatically, from being the anxious boy he was, to being the creative, diplomatic and happy boy he is today.

Life in the Grove

Life in the grove has dramatically changed Edward; in the grove Edward learnt to read, to write, to speak diplomatically and also, however odd it may seem, to swim. Edward has gained many powerful friends throughout his lifetime, one including Prince Beo of Norland, the heir to The Kingdom Of Norland, Edward advised Beo on many topics, be it war, peace or even tyrants. In this light Prince Beo, in his wisdom, decided to invite Edward into his home and appoint him as his own advisor and one day, advisor to him as King of Norland. Although Edward does not just advise Prince Beo in theological debates, he also has become steadfast friends with Beo be that by playing games to exploring abandoned castles. (This actually happened.) Edward met a girl by the name of Amelia in the grove and quite quickly the connected through relative ideologies and ideals and quickly, like in Beo's case, they become fast friends. Edward introduced Amelia to Beo and quite quickly they formed a friendship triad where they would play games, explore and talk about the world in which they live in. Edward quickly grew closer to Amelia, and before he or she knew it Edward had entered a romantic relationship with her this resulted in Edwards first kiss and therefore first love. Edward, in shame of this, told his guardian Taynuel who then admitted he was very disappointed and did not approve, Amelia's mother beat her and Taynuel calmly talked to Edward to ask him why this happened. Edward then in stress suffered a heart attack in which he nearly died; Taynuel later revealed that he wanted to adopt him and that if he carried this relationship on, then that would mean that Edward is courting his non-biological cousin. The relationship quickly broke down after a second kiss, Amelia revealed this to her mother and Edward then came to the realisation that he did not love Amelia as he thought he did and realised that since his mother died at an early age and Edward did not have a woman figure in his life he latched onto Amelia not knowing truly what his feelings were. Taynuel later reconciled with him and officially adopted Edward.

Life in adolescence

Spoiler

As Edward grew, so did his knowledge of the world, his introvertism affected him in such a way that he did not speak to anyone, except for Taynuel and Beo, for a few years, on the rare occasion he did speak to someone, the conversation would be short and sometimes awkward, he spent more and more time reading than he did socialising and did not have time for other people at all. At the age of sixteen Edward went for his Druid interview after waiting for ten years and came out successful, as a Dedicant of the Druidic Grove, four months later though Beo gave him a Barony and officially made him a nobleman.
