A Trial: Defender Default

How can we expect people to roleplay fight properly when people cannot roleplay fear, physics, and not being able to telepathically tell someone they're being attacked properly?

haha let's keep having the same dumb debates and then come to the same conclusion that PvP default is the only realistic method after a horrifying experimental period!

Rule enforcement. Like the cop that tazes you, handcuffs you, then tazes you again.

Full armour doesn't make you an unbeatable god. An unarmoured man has a serious advantage - or you don't understand the weight and clunkyness of armour.

A mage needs space to throw a fireball, and ultimately, using a crossbow can one shot people too. Happens more often than mages one shotting people.

You know absolutely nothing about armor. Crowley would have a field day with you.

Please enlighten us on what we 'do not know', please Aesopian.

I'm not wasting my time teaching children. If you want to understand the mechanics of medieval armours, there are ample resources available to you. Try Google.

I insist. You claim to know so much, share your knowledge to the uneducated.

dont you people know that armor weighs 245-300 lbs and that it takes 30 seconds to turn around when you are using it? It is known that unarmored peasants dominated the field of battle thanks to their lack of armor and their ability to be FAST and dodge every blow?

Ignorant fucks

Hello I own and regularly use a set of platemail in the real world and in my experience armor is not very clunky. The only real advantage an unarmored person has over a person wearing fitted plate is better visibility (assuming the visor is down) and better stamina (though someone who trains with armor is likely to be more physically fit and therefore have more stamina then someone who doesn't). On top of sparring we do regular exercise activities in our full harness to build stamina without issue. Also, crossbows are unlikely to "one shot" or even seriously wound a person unless they hit them in a vulnerable part of the armor (such as an open visor, the space between the sabaton and the greave, the back of the cuisse, or the armpit).

To be fair, it's silly that armor has to be so heavy. It's also silly for people to always be in full plate armor at all times on every day everywhere they go.

Your sword is not that useful against plate armor, no matter how strong you are. Bows are not useful at all. A rock sling is actually effective against armored foes. I think someone wrote that they'd rather be under the entire town's archers than one sling-man. Fire magic should be very, very effective against armor (except everyone gets triggered at any magic). Fire and heat were used to great effect. If you don't have fire or a sling, then you better have a hammer or knock the man on the ground and stab his face repeatedly. That is actually how most knights died I think, being stabbed in the face.

Just my opinion.

Pretty sure a needle-tipped bodkin shot from a longbow can pierce armor, and chainmail is literally worthless against piercing weapons (which tends to include arrows).
