It's hard to say I'm new to the community, because I'm still wondering If I really should join it. I'm 24yo huge RPG and cRPG fan, familiar with roleplay, but rather new to multiplayer Minecraft. Hell, I don't even have a legal copy of It yet and so I'm wondering if this is really server for me. Why? Because from where I come from Minecraft players are usually tied with foolish children, bad sense of humour and essence of immaturity in general.

In fantasy and roleplay prefer grim, dark worlds, like those of World of Darkness series, Shadowrun, Gothic or The Witcher. I understand It's PG-13 and there should be no cybersex, but banning prostitute or sex from roleplaying - is it actually the thing on the server, or in smaller communities/guild/factions of adult players there are more obscure scenes and motives? I can't imagin anyone is up to i.e. really interesting tortures or deep mental ilness, If you say no-no to simple prostitute.

Again, as I said, I'm rather new to Minecraft multiplayer. On the other hand, I've made a pretty successful PBF game and co-managed Gothic roleplay server, so I suppose I'm rather familiar with most limitations and problems in online roleplaying.

Furthermore, I'm from Europe and I'm a little bit scared of lags. Maybe it's not big deal when it comes to roleplay, but I've read that wars and fights are not 100% roleplayed, but they take place in PvP - game engine, I suppose? - and It'd sad to loose just because of geography. Of course I have no option to check if I actually will have lags, cause I need damn full, legal copy to test it (and that's probably the most important thing that holds me from buying game).

Last thing - I'm not native english speaker.

So... what do you think?

To start with you sound like a bit of a speshul' snowflake. Had to be honest.

Mostly the childish players don't even pass the whitelisting process. There is some torture yeah but it is mostly behind close doors and functions like RP. The way you make it sounds is if people are actively searching for it. And ofcourse one can have a deep mental illness. But as far as I have seen people don't like those kinds of players too much. Especially if they play to much on it all the time.

Sorry if I got something wrong. Your text was hard for me to read so I might have got something wrong.

The server has plenty of more mature themes (such as intrigues, romance, war, crime, etc) and a large european playerbase, there's basically something for everyone here.

The combat thing shouldn't be an issue unless you're out looking for trouble, so know your limits, friendo.

Your english skills are very good by the way, wouldn't know you're not a native speaker unless you told us!

i like your thread, I had a very fun experience reading it over and could tell you put a lot of effort into it. if you could tell us your computer specs then we could maybe tell you if you would have lags on the server. you could also use this website to determine if you would have lags or not: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri

Yeah, like Japzzi said, Most of the childish kids that don't know anything of roleplay never make it past the whitelisting process. I'm not quite sure about prostitutes though, and I think that would fall Into a gray area. Yes, I have encountered  brutal torturings and people with mental issues (which definitely has to be done correctly). Yes, our wars are fought via PvP, which has quite a lot of lag during. This shouldn't be a problem however, as my pc is quite frankly **** and I have an alright experience during battles for the most part. Of course, if you find warclaims aren't for you, you can always choose not to take part.

As long as you are not edgy you'll be fine.

Don't get me wrong - It's not liike I'm here to play cybersex with 15yo players... I was just wondering what's the general attitude towards more serious themes (especially when there are thing like Dark Arts, corruption etc.).

It-s 4-year-old laptop and I'll probably have low fps in larger cities, but I was more concered about latency between Europe and US.

Intel Core i3 2.1 GHz, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 6490M + Intel HD

Thanks, Jonificus, but on the other hand Japzzi says he had problems with reading my post. I haven't played roleplay in any but my native language yet, so I don't know how it'll be.

Thanks for your answers - if there actually are players from Europe, then probalby I won't have many tech problems either. I'll probably buy game and join you soon.

Dude the torture on this server is actually pretty cool.

That is, uh, if you're into zombies and total edgelords.

I'd definitely recommend joining though. The average player is anywhere from 12-20, so I'm sure you'd fit in fine.

About the darker themes, I'd say you should look through the wiki and the accepted lore. There are some pretty creepy things on this server, but the creepiness factor is really subjective and overall the server is pretty light hearted. I mean, sure, we've got undead and torture and a few murder caves here and there, but we also have giant bee hives and pumpkin kings, so...

About childish players, I regret to inform you we do have kids on the server.

That's... why it's PG-13. Heck, I joined when I was 11.

However, we don't encourage immaturity, and our whitelisting is pretty selective, so you don't have to worry about having conversations with babies "wh0 tak lyk dis" or anything.

All these people saying that our whitelisting is real good and weeds out the children and immature players are kind of flat out lying unless something changed in the process. It's ez penuts to get into LotC now compared to when I signed up back in like 2012 or 2013 or something.

Ok, I don't wan to be that guy who's everyone's pain in the ass, but I'm confused and can't find help anywhere (tried searching wiki, forum, asking on chat in game and spend about 5 hours total on TS "help" channel, but no one came).

I'm new and wanted to develop character from scratch - that means getting knowledge in-game and not on the forum, wandering through world to places that actually people will point me and not engage in advertisements of guild and factions of which my character should have no idea. Cool story, I think, but I can't find no one to play with - I've explored city of Al-Wakrah, but there was literally no one, so I've came to Cloud Temple and there stood for hours, yelling about how I want to work just for food and maybe minas and shelter. I had 3 conversations total, two fruitless and one that was leading to actually something ended up with other player logging off (escaping from a fight, I think?).
I just don't know where to find someone to play with, some place to anchor myself in the first few days. I don't want to post ooc aplications to guilds with people I dont know IC nor OOC.

Or maybe I'm just doing something wrong?

What times do you play usually?

I've been playing yesterday at night (as soon as my app was accepted) and today, both when there were 20-30 players and 50+. I'm from Europe, so it's 6 hours difference, but someone said there actually is "large european playerbase".

I'm usually on in early hours of the morning (like 1am-3am EST) so yeah, heads up there. Typically there is a fair sized european base. At least one or two admins are from Europe, even.
