The Tomb City Of Valanor

Old Legend With Documented Evidence From Ancient Vailor Ruins and Tome’s

In a time long thought non-existent place a strange sect known as the old religion may have worked beneath the island that is now known as Yale. According to hieroglyphs that can be found within the caves. The tomb city of Valanor was consisted of its own race called the Sedarei, they are thought to have been highly intelligent beings capable of immense magical feats of engineering, so advanced in fact that not even Malin and his descendants could even comprehend their language or technology until now...

The glyphs and tomes speak of the Sedarei as large insectoids with crystalline mandibles, they must have used coherent clicking and screeches to speak to one another thus making it difficult for a descendant to speak in their harsh tongue. The style of writing used was also drastically different, the Sedarei wrote their texts in eldritch sigils that not even the most brilliant of minds could comprehend. The Sedarei may have created several artifacts throughout their massive subterranean city of Valanor but this is yet to be proven. During the year 1321 the species abruptly died out. Throughout the lower city a choking miasma of death and decay would choke any interlopers that enter it, around its entrance thousands of tombs litter the massive caves with gold beetles engraved on the doors. If one entered a tomb, a dozen mummified Sedarei exoskeletons would surround a central altar with offerings to some eldritch deity. The caves are littered with the bones of many Sedarei hinting that some terrible mass extinction event took place in the lower cities. If someone investigated this, it would be revealed in some hieroglyphs  that some terrible plague shook the lower kingdoms. According to the hieroglyphics the plague turned blood into a vile miasma that would choke the living and infect anyone exposed to it. Many of the Sedarei escaped the city but not before the plague infected them as well. Markings along the walls to the lower city seem to brand the high priest of Valanor a traitor and a harbinger of death and pestilence. Further research into the lower city might reveal a dark and terrible truth about a dark magic long thought impossible to conceive, whatever event caused the fall of the Sedarei most of the hieroglyphics reveal that the plague may have been caused by their arrogance in the field of lifeforce based magic.

The Upper, Lower and Inner City.

Valanor is split into three cities, the upper city is the most ancient of the two, it is free of the purple miasma that chokes the life out of all interlopers. This is due to a massive quartz gate that seals the rest of the city from the outside world, it is the only barrier that stops the miasma from spreading to the surface. The lower city has multiple temples and shrines to seven different deities of unknown origin. One of which is oddly reminiscent to the Daemon Iblees while the other seems similar to Knox. One of the shrines seems to worship a tentacled eye...is it Ikuras? Regardless, the Sedarei may or may not have been visited by these aengudaemonic beings. The lower city housed most of the Sedarei in large palace-like homes, they are now crumbled and rotted by the miasma with Sedarei skeletons scattered across the entire city in the hundreds of thousands. Amongst the corpses many of the Sedorei souls linger on in the darkness, whispering mad things to any whom brave the miasma. There is a main road that cuts across the lower city, it is completely paved in rotted exoskeletons. This road leads to the inner city where the Sedarei priests and their servants would have lived. Upon stepping through the massive arch into the inner city, a horrific sight would await any interlopers. Thousands of Sedarei skeletons would be hung from the massive cave ceiling on chains of black ferrum. Three massive pyramids made of a strange red brick tower above the skeletons in a impressive feat of stone masonry and engineering. Ectoplasm covers the massive pyramids along with any bones paved into the ground, thousands of restless Sedorei ghosts would linger in the darkness awaiting to meet out terrible vengeance upon anyone who would step in the final resting place of their masters.

Culture And History

The Sedorei evolved from a race of insectoids found occasionally in Vailor, one such example is the empress beetle that wrecked havoc on courland a decade ago with its spawn of locust-like swarms.

The Sedorei developed a deep understanding of death due to their reduced lifespans, this led to them becoming a highly religious culture that worshipped death as a part of the cycle of life. Among this, they worshipped the moon and cursed the sun. Their main deity was a spider goddess, strangely resembling Nemiisae. According to their lore, they we’re blessed with intelligence by the spider queen and as such given the gift of the moon. This gift being the ability to draw upon voidal magic like a descendant would, but only if the moon was out. This connection rendered their lives short lived however and eventually led to arrogance. This arrogance led them to worship the death god as they called him, the death god eventually contacted their high priest and offered to prolong the lives of his people if they would serve him. The high priest obliged but not before the daemon tore away at his lifeforce and created the plague that would destroy his people. The high priest survived the plague, but was left weakened and without his people. The last piece of their history shows the priest descending into a tomb with the corpses of his children covered in wrappings.

((Disclaimer, the race described in this lore is extinct and will not be coming back in their previous form, only spirits remain along with the miasma that floods the city. This is just to add a massive ruin beneath some place in the empire of Oren and have some back story to it. This is just a quick draft so don't jump to conclusions, this lore is just to have the ET build something big and have some fun event lines behind it. There is suppose to be a lot of mystery and discovery involving this lore to inspire people to go out and explore as well, something we currently lack in my opinion.))

I don't believe ruins on Vailor would make much sense. According to some people, Vailor was a brand-fresh, untouched land when the descendants arrived

Edit: I've just readen it, sorry.

Still, I believe said Seidarei would need a more in-depth review instead of straight-up ruins

so the city is just undercity from wow?

No not at all, what makes you think it's the undercity from WoW? What's the similarity between the two? The undercity was created as a prison for the orcs and bandits that plagued Lordaeron prior to the scourge invasion. Afterwards the scourge expanded it and turned it into a necropolis. It's features are also way different since bones don't cover the entire location and ectoplasm isn't present either. What your referring to is completely different to what my lore suggests. It's not similar to the Nerubian lore either due to the Nerubians being slain by the scourge's plagues which btw, turned them undead. I think you just want to shoot my lore down without giving it any real thought.

It's interesting to say the least.

This lore has been reviewed and voted on and has been DENIED!

The reasons why is because while it is an interesting aspect, it doesn't detail enough about the race, although extinct, that were apparently living in Vailor centuries ago. Additionally, it does appear to be a rip from WOW's Undercity.
