Can we just nerf Stoneskin already?

My five cents here is that I feel it is indeed broken if your only method of killing someone is infact running away, but at the same time I think that's the entire point, giving it is infact called "Stoneskin". Though I understand the difficulty when something has literally only one counter, one which could easily be worked around, leaves very little for actual strategy. I'd support a debuff of some form for the potion for the time being, maybe even removal if it proves to be terrible in 1.9.

It's quite simple to tell if someone has stoneskin on. Are they slow and have particle effects? That means you should run. And from there it's also painfully easy to kill them with a bow.

Literally alchemy just makes it so you can't be a berserking idiot in PVP.

I agree, it's very easy to see who has a stoneskin popped in the middle of a large scale skirmish/raid.

Iron armour has a damage reduction of 60%, resistance 3 also has the same damage reduction. This means that a player with stoneskin takes over 100% damage reduction, that's insane. I understand you put your life's work into leveling alchemy and don't want your toys taken away, but come on, open your eyes. This **** is utterly broken in every way and saying 'run away lol' as a counter to it is extremely poor.

It's a 60% of the remaining 40%. And yes, it is if you pay attention to the particles and their speed. Literally just run 10 blocks back and start shooting a bow.

Ik im saying with equally balanced gear though

Fringe was all iron gear with very few enchants, you would win by kiting people (Running, fighting a bit then running again before their numbers were able to mean anything major). But NEXUS is so ridiculously FUCKED with **** like knockback resistance (Most servers consider people taking no knockback hackers, lotc considers them people taking full advantage of their plugins ;d ) or armor slowness which further reduces the knockback you take. LotC needs to take a good hard look at how poorly nexus has been balanced and start patching things up, hopefully just wiping on the new map and going back to vanilla crafting.

With the way attack speed is going to be in 1.9 I can argue that it will be near impossible to kill someone with stone skin

I can agree with that, my opinion is that swords are swords, there should be a very fine line between different swords, not upwards of 5 heart differentials between them.

1.9 is going to break pvp already. The fact its been said diamond armor is returning is even worse.

Stoneskin is a terrible potion, and should only really be res1, res3 is broken and pretty dang great even on regular gear, and not in the form of 'lolfree' potions.

The effects of stoneskin are attributed to the interpretation from the lore. Stoneskin is not just a mechanic but a functional physical (in a mc sense) piece of alchemy lore that has the effect of slowing people down extremely and hardening their skin o a state identical to stone. A whole lot of the pro dbuffers are not alchemists they don't realize the difficulty in producing them. I know that groups will mass produce but that can be seen as a function of RP

To be completely honest, I wouldn't use stoneskin in RP, ever.
As described by the item itself it, "Halts all movement," which is in no way, "Slows all movement." So.. If we're going to pull the RP card, the item itself is borderline useless in terms of combat utility and perhaps adjustments should be made to reflect that?

Hell, even if it was changed to "Slows all movement," why doesn't it effect the rate in which you swing your weapon?

Stoneskin doesn't slow you lmao sprint jumping just makes you take a little damage but you jump more frequent. Bows dont knock a stoneskinned man back and not everyone will disengage a big brawl in hopes to draw out the stoneskin guy. Alchemy is only useful for pvp, take that away and you are useless haha well thats the same with all professions.

Thanks for the feedback. In 1.9 I'm thinking of slowing down the hit swing timer when drinking the potion (if I can). In 1.9 it's going to be working the same (which makes a resist I potion far more useful than most armor. If you didn't know, for the swords and bows (specially bows) we have in LOTC, iron armor sucks in 1.9). For now, all I can do is lower it to probably resist 2 (but the current existing potions won't disapear). Rest II might be better to give to the potion instead of Res III, but Res I kind of sucks.

Resistance effects:

  • Hit someone with restistance I 5 times, make the damage of 4 hits without resistance.
  • Hit someone with restistance II 5 times, make the damage of 3 hits without resistance.
  • Hit someone with restistance III 5 times, make the damage of 2 hits without resistance.

Either way, each time someone is drinking a potion of stoneskin he is spending at least... 200 minas? That's actually not that much, I haven't done any stoneskin in a while, though stoneskin is the hardest potion to make at the moment (10 ingredients, I assume there's a 80% or more chance of failing to make the potion from scratch to finish).

I also just heard you only get Slow II, that's weird, should be III. I'll make the change... right now.

Stoneskin doesn't allow sprint jumping. And they clearly get knockback.

R E M O V E  I T

PLEASE. The problem will still be there if the slowness is increased. Experienced pvpers on both sides say it's terrible. So please for once, just take the advice of people who actually know and just remove it.

there is literally no benefit to having it on the server.

No @Jistuma they do not take knockback, no one takes knockback on this ***** server unless you're packing knockback weapons (which shouldn't be the case).
