LoTC 1.9.4 - Open Beta Combat - Sword'n'Shield

Recommended Posts

Here's a short video I had recorded of some player verse player combat on the limited-time open beta LoTC PvP server. I've honestly been having a good time so far testing out the next generation of Lord of the Craft combat and I hope this video helps balance the upcoming update!

Ggt's Recommendations:

~ Debuff bows, they're doing a bit too much damage.

~ Possibly add a percentage for arrows to go through shields. Make it really low, but still there so players just don't corner up and become immune to all ranged damage.

~ Fix the cavalry bug where player's don't appear on horses.

~ Increase axe and pickaxe damage, it's too low in comparison to the sword that can swing twice as fast.

For one of your suggestions if there was a way to make it so only certain arrows went through shields I think that would be neat because covering your flanks with shields sounds like a spartan dream come true.

Did knightartorius have thorns on his shields? cause when we were hitting him we were taking damage even when we were hitting him with bows, and we are certain it wasn't just other players hitting us.

You could just implement scratch damage, that is, make it impossible to do less than 1 hp damage.

At the very least some light knockback would be nice.

Pickaxe doesnt swing twice as slow vs the sword. Sword is 2.4 and the pickaxe is 2.8. The pickaxe also does a full 1+ more dmg with a higher percentage. I think they missed that but the pickaxe is god tier imo. I was also being 2-3 shot by golden weapons in full iron and studded armors.

I found out last night that you can regen faster then the person hitting you can swing. Maybe this could be a problem due to our double health.

Yes but when holding a shield when someone attacks you, you can easily regen all health

Yeah, I've had guys just stand still with their shield and regen their health while I was hitting them.
