The map currently allows users to select and drag the map layers which is a little weird and can ruin the functionality of the site, especially since clicking the map layer toggles too quickly can select the image behind. Personally I would add the following webkit CSS to your images (could all give them the same class then apply CSS to them all at once since they don't have one).

 

Here's the CSS in question;

  -webkit-user-select: none;  
  -moz-user-select: none;     
  -ms-user-select: none;      
  user-select: none;   
    
  -webkit-user-drag: none;
  -khtml-user-drag: none;
  -moz-user-drag: none;
  -o-user-drag: none;
  user-drag: none;

 

This prevents users both from accidentally selecting your map (fills the screen with blue and can't be cleared since the image is fullscreen) and also dragging the images by accident.

 

Secondly, i'd put a box around the map layer toggle for clarity.

EDIT: Also, a drop shadow behind the map's text would aid in clarity (or give the text a small border).

Something like that. Unsure about the northern parts of the mountains in Vandoria. But the red circle marks places that aren't part of the Sultanate, and are still Orenian / loyalist.

this is a more accurate representation of the south when it comes to vandoria/Sharaff n stuff.

 

• Al-Wakhrah had been destroyed by undead, all that remains is a castle named Al-Hibbatallah
• The moon island is owned by Sharaff
• The lands to the north marked unclaimed is unclaimed by any faction. It is unsettled. Skyfall use to live there, but then it exploded via void node, so technically that area is a nuclear wasteland .
• The new areas marked in red accurately depicts the remaining 'loyalists'. Only Ariamis, Ard-Ghorrock, and Gotthold are Orenian/Vandorian settlements now, and this is their land size (going off of region size.)
• To the far far south lays another continent, one to be just a bit under half the size of current Sharaf. Its the sultanate of Haria, capitol being Al-Malik. The drawing isn't accurate, but is basically a rough up draft of what it looks like. Its farther south than compared to this map, kinda. (To get there, take the ship with orange and white sails at CT docks.)

If you truly want to descend into nit-picking, then this one:

 

 

• Marbrand is unclaimed right now, possibly given to an Orenian bailiff
• The area between Gotthod and Marbrand is technically not claimed by any town
• The area between Ard Ghorrock and Aethermoor is tainted by the Orcs
• Hearth, the tiny wedge between Mabrand, the area between Gotthold and Marbrand and the western loyalist shard is pledged to the Sultanate
• Going by regions, all unclaimed/unpopulated/non sub-region parts still belong to Oren as the only non-banned region holder of vandoria_full is Soren.

• The Pink is owned by crazyviolinist, and she's already sworn under Sharaf
• Marbrand is still under possession of Marinaemily, foreverginer's decree on the one topic is technically voided since Marina is the lordess of the area. But then again i don't really know whats going on there so oh well.
• Vandor_Full is a defunct parent region, its been brought up in staff discussion for its total removal since its utterly useless.
• Faerglade (area tainted by orcs) is still under Sharaff control. Taint doesn't mean border expansion via the uzg, its literally them spreading their plague lol.

 

So really the only thing that would be adjusted is marbrand, but the marbrand lands are much smaller than what is depicted.

I've added a claims layer as a way of presenting the fluid nature of territories, it can be used with the borders layer or instead of it. The disputed territories have been emphasised through this.
