Archery changes

um hate to interupt the hurrah for lower bow damage but up can shields be given a change then? like a chance that they dont block the arrow? maybe scale this with the wood workers level? i dont know man shields are pretty overpowered agaisnt an archer and (i believe)you can use a shield on a house which negates the speed of the archer fully, im not saying bring back bow power but like at least fix shields a little please?

Have none of you actually read the thread. The damage done by bows and arch sets (leather armour archer armour) has not changed at all. The only thing that has changed in velocity so why are people complaining about the damage done. Its exactly the same you just need to get better with using low velocity bows.

yay more pvp nerfs! I really do hate pvp, seeing it get less attention or at least getting nerfs that make sense is nice.

hitting a mounted archer speeding around on the roadhogs people have for horses isn't like you said something you can do with your eyes closed. If you're standing still on your horse and you get hit with a dismounting arrow, well that's your fault

that's why you have to position yourself correctly by either being behind melee fighters on your side or way out of reach from enemy melee fighters. If your playstyle is right you wont ever get caught out by people

Why couldn't this update wait until after the warclaim today???????? Is it seriously that necessary to add this right when a major battle using bows will ensue????

Okay, So. Here's what should happen to balance everything out:

  • Keep bows the way they CURRENTLY are, and I understand why @Dewlox™ is pissed, and they gave valid reasons which I respect.
  • Add coding to shields that has like.. a 5% chance that the arrow won't be deflected.
  • With the Bow nerf, make the Infinity enchant actually keep all the arrows since we all know that the Explosive Arrow doesn't work with infinity
  • Keep swords the way they CURRENTLY are.
  • Make archer gear not so painful to collect materials for since there's a high chance you'll just have to gather the materials again because the gear that was made is horrid stat wise.
  • And just for banter, make caskets a bit easier to get for miner <3

Anyways that's my two cents, take them as you will.

Not so. Thornbark is confirmed to drop in both Plains and Savannah biomes. I'm confirming it for you, as that's the only places I thought they dropped. Dragon scale also drops in Savannah.

 

Also: I've heard that any % above 25% velocity was pointless in pvp?

It could drop in all biomes but it won't change the fact that it's way more difficult to get a hold of them compared to iron and coal.

I've gotten thornbark in ice mountain biome as well, but it didn't drop from a spruce tree, only dark oak. Didn't try acacia but that probably works too
