“Westerlandic forces forming the vanguard against the Necrotic hordes, circa 1603.”

“Time and time again they buckled our line, many times I felt as if the battle was to be lost..

They never stopped pouring over that bridge, though we never stopped our struggle.”

Veteran soldier of the Westerlands, Unknown

The 17th of The First Seed seemed as ordinary a day as any, though Unbeknownst to those who resided in the Bastion a massive force of Undead prepared an assault unlike near any ever seen in Axios.

Dawn brought the first surge, Westerlandic men rose their blades as a horde converged slowly over Mordring’s bridge pressing onto the small garrison. The few held for but a brief time, vastly overwhelmed a single soldier pushed through the Necrotic’s lines and began a sprint towards the fortress city of Bastion. Interrupting a diplomatic discussion the Private hollered and yelled.

“They have arrived.. The Southern Garrison, undead as far as the eye can see, waves of them!”

Shouted the terrified soldier, dying but soon after, succumbing to his grievous wounds.

Few of the foreign diplomats stifled a laugh, though those of the Westerlands replied back with nothing but utter silence, for they knew the Undead as if it were a relative, as recently the border skirmishes near doubled in activity.

King Caius the first of his name, rallied forth most of those present at the palace as well all the Westerland soldiers who dwelt within, bells rang, shouts were ubiquitous as the sizable force set out in unison. Ascended as well those of Haense and the Westerlands were the largest groups present as they advanced through thick woods.

“Men united in the purpose of GOD are blessed in his sight and shall live forever in his memory.”

Marshal Milton Lowedge of the Westerlands.

Hours of grueling fighting ensued, the sounds of battle were staggering, commotion was ever apparent on the snowy fields as near never ending waves of Undead poured forth through Mordring’s bridge, spewing into the mainland. Waves of the Necrotics’ only grew in strength, what began as huge hordes of Rotters progressed into armed cultists, spreading vile taint around the ruined Garrison.

All seemed as if lost, the Undead felling soldier after soldier, advancing a good distance from the bridge of Mordring. The remaining regiment of various soldiers rallied collectively in a final offensive, ever resolute.

Ultimately, the few forces prevailed, slaying most of the malignant cultists, many turning aside to flee back over the bridge. In the final fleeting moments, Valendris took to the field along with his personal retinue, a seasoned warrior of the Westerlands risen to unholy service, a Necrotic champion. Nevertheless, he was slain, beheaded, the massive assault finally coming to a conclusion.

The battlefield was covered in abundant corpses, some were of the Undead, many were of the Descendants, blood was almost even more apparent, stains of crimson plastered amongst the ground like snow.

A Pyrrhic victory was won on the 17th of The First Seed, many lost their lives in defense of the Westerlanders, but a victory was won.

OOC:

Overall, I really enjoyed performing this large event, more players joined in than I thought and I would like to thank everyone who was able to attend the event. I would like to apologize for the large amount of server lag I generated with this experience, as this was still a learning experience for me, being a new Actor of the Event Team.

A special thanks to @joey calabreeni and the Westerlands leadership for allowing me to enact this event so close to their regions.

Feel free to reply with RP comments, criticisms or anything of the sort.

Here’s to great events to come.

Following the battle, Slynt Siil'crux handed the head over to His Majesty. "For you, my king."

A peasant of Bastion would wonder how the Westerlands retains their soldier count, with all of these recent battles against the undead menace. He'd then continue on his way to empty his chamber pot into the gutter, impressed by their clear military-prowess as he did so.

Karyssmov Faroe would hear word of this battle, a faint smirk upon him. He would gather up supplies and begin his trek to visit lands that stand up to a true menace, and not their fellow man.

Peasants of everywhere must be wondering this after every battle ever, another peasant would think.

(( This event was super fun, 10x better than 15 people trying to fight an over powered RP monster tbh. Bring back the undead menace, bring back PvE events!! ))

A small graven observes from the mountains up north, watching his undead brothers getting slaughtered

"Fools... Why don't they just lay off these humans, and elves... The Skeletal Dragon doesn't care if some puny idiots with aurum blades and strong armor are by his gates. He knows they'll die if they try to enter, regardless of their efforts."
