"Force him onto his knees." Ordered the Marshal in a cold tone. Without hesitation the soldier did as commanded, stomping into the back of the young nobles' leg. With a heavy grunt, the young man would fall onto all fours scratching up both his hands and knees on the nearby pavement. He'd slowly straighten his posture as he rises onto both knees, head held high with pride.

"What is his name?" Questioned Arthur. A nearby Mardonian Captain would quickly respond: "I believe he is a de Savin, ser." The Marshal would nod in appreciation towards the officer before slowly taking a few steps forth, his gaze falling down upon the Courlandic man. Without hesitation nor stutter, Arthur would state as the nearby soldiers begin to slowly load their arbalests:

"Savin, I, Arthur Jrent, Marshal of the Holy duchy of Mardon, under the undisputed crimes of both heresy and the assassination of our so holy pontiff, hereby sentence you to death. Speak now or forever hold your tongue. . ." The purple and black adorned man would state aloud, as he'd step back. The soldiers would all raise their weapons, taking aim.

"This is why your Empire fell." Shouted out the angered man, before suddenly being impaled from all around by soaring bolts. The now bloodied and near-death de Savin would begin mumbling out his last words:

"You. . . Will. . . All. . .BU--" With a crack his words would be cut off as a nearby mercenary, Torbern, would stomp the dying man's head into a nearby curb.

". . . It needs to be done. . . They killed the pontiff. . . If I fail, all is lost. . ."  Reassured Arthur to himself later that night within his private quarters, his stare blank and unmoving into a candle's flame.

Romanos upon hearing by merchants the death of his beloved friend by Mardon, he'd lower his banners in his keep and raises black banners for Hefron's memory. The Holy Ser then, would gather his Brothers in arms for a speech. "The Heretics of Mardon, the enemy of our Church and Courland have slain a dear friend of mine. They have killed the Heir to the duchy of Savinia, Lord Hefron de Savin. The Horens and the Church of the Canon have proved once more how savages they are by killing an innocent man. It is our duty to defend our Church, Courland and the faithful. His death will be avenged, and the man who killed him will pay for that he has done. This man who calls himself the Marshal of Mardon will lose his head and will meet GOD where he will be judged by Him for his sins." The Holy Knight would pause for a few moments and forces back his tears before he'd begin talking again while he points towards Mardon's location. "The heretics lay there and launch cowardly raids every once and a while in Alexandria. The defence of our city has fallen to us, and with GOD's help we will succeed once more. They claim we killed their corrupted Pontiff, but we didn't. A few witnesses told me there was no Courlander soldier nor Knight anywhere close at the scene. Now, the man who brings me the Marshal's head, will be cleared from all sins by the High Priest Callixtus I and five thousand minas. Forward, in the name of GOD!" Romanos would raise his voice at the last sentence and a few tears would come out from his eyes. He would then withdraw to his chambers and begins to write letters about Hefron's death, which will be deliver to every nobleman of Courland.

[!] Bishop Nikolas after the speech.

Rotger would once again note that no Courlandic soldiers touched the pontiff.

Rotger would then note that Mardon's soldiers are kidnapping Courlandic nobles & executing them.

'Wait,' he thinks to himself, 'how long did Haense get away with the same crimes before--'...

Brynden Tosali cheers in the hearing of this battle, he'd unsheathe his sword, same for the men in his war tent. He'd yell in the air stating "For the People, For the North!" His commanders would follow along with the men in the tent, you'd hear it chanted three times before they went back to planning.

Peter Sigismund would clarify that Courlandic soldiers did indeed intervene and strive to kill the High Pontiff, as per screenshots and reliable witnesses.

Rotger would bode well knowing that Courlandic nobles were just waltzing around in the city's limits, practically asking to be killed.

Gared would shake his head, folding up note he had received about the murder of the de Savin and laying it atop his desk. "Mardon pulling the same trick Haense did, what with declaring war as soon as one of their nobles fell dead; this will be a fun war."

Rotger then wonders why it is that two nations technically still not at war would murder the royals of another except for warmongering reasons, followed by asking himself what a screenshot it.

Moreover, what a screen was. 'If it were putting an arrow through a lady's changing screen', he thinks, 'that's just wrong!'

He then recalls that he stipulated that Courlandic soldiers fought off the opposing soldiers the pontiff had smuggled in with him whilst on his 'diplomatic' mission. Not that much of it matters, now the Mardonian army is dead and sinking into a marsh.
