The Name of Oren

Rain dripped slowly outside the window of John V's bed as a racking cough took him once more. The sickness that had fallen upon him left him unable to run his Empire, but it could not stop his mind nor his hand. Taking a quill and parchment in his hands, he began to write the following in the candle light.

"What is the meaning of Oren? An Empire reformed for the sixth time. Each for various reasons and each Empire holding different characteristics. Is it the dynasty that leads which defines it? The Emperor at the time? Oren once strove out into the world to conquer uncivilized lands to bring forth its image and ideals to all the world. This expansion has led to its downfall many times. When I reformed the Empire of my ancestors, it was not those ideals which drove me. Balkanization was a stain on the world of Man. A stain which led humans slaughtering humans and leaving cities deserted and countrysides pillaged. Only with order can humanity prevail. United through different cultures and mindsets to face any threat that would take away their GOD given livelihoods.

One of my first foreign problems as Emperor called for an answer on the Urguan-Frostbeard Civil War that had taken place. One side of me sought to strike Urguan while they were weak as they have done in every civil war in Oren and have done in the most recent one as well. Another side of me saw the opportunity to make amends with the Dwarven Peoples and establish relations like they were in the days of Godfrey when the two peoples ruled in a Golden Age. My reparations were foolish at first to request, and I called a meeting with the Grand King to let him know those terms were no longer the case.

However, the Dwarven Legion rallied outside and attempted to hack down the doors to my palace during a diplomatic meeting and take my life. The Men of Norland, a nation I, myself, negotiated a peace for between the Dwarves and them to return their lands showed with their army as well and filed in with Dwarven ranks outside my doors. A nation that I have an alliance with. A nation led in its military by my very own uncle. You claim oppression from Oren when your men have fought with rebels against me and marched on my palace gates in my capital.

Oren, an Empire, seeks unity and order in humanity, yet foreign races see that strength as a threat to their own. Claims of aggression and expansion are false.

To the Dwarves of Urguan, I held back my armies from attacking your people during civil war when you yourselves have done the opposite in civil wars in Oren. You came to murder me in my palace during a diplomatic meeting when I sought peace with your people. You claim we are aggressive, but it is you who wishes to see Humanity divided so they can be your pawns and controlled. It shall never be the case.

To the Men of Norland, I worked with you and your people for my early years before becoming Emperor. I negotiated and wrote the peace treaty which got your land back from the Dwarves of Urguan. When you come to my palace in force while I am under attack, it is seen as being done aggressively. I seek to discuss reparations for any men wounded or killed in the incident, but that can only be done through communication, not war.

This Empire is not one of aggression as many may think. It is one of order, and it shall bring forth that order regardless of foreign races seeking to divide humanity and conquer it. GOD bless the sixth Empire of Oren."

"Funny, half of the soldiers who helped defend the Krag from dwarven invaders were ex-oreners or Haense." says Felix Fitch.

"All we merely did was stand outside of the Palace waitin' when a Teuton wandered up and attempted to axe the Ashguard Fuze Yander, and would currently have a chunk of her head missing if it wasn' for the King of Norland pushin' her out of the way."

"What happens after we accept the Reperations and pull out of the Coalition?" Asks Floki the Norlandic peasant.

"Oren marches on us and tries to lay siege to the Krag once they're done with the rest of the Coalition?" He sighs in frustration, rubbing his jaw.

"This is a shitshow, but I trust Artyom. Long live the King!"

"Secondly.. If the Ashguard were not assaulted then why would the Emperor seek to pay reparations for it..?"

"Stagnation is caused by lack of War, every nation knows this so they do everything they can to find a reason to shed more blood instead of trying to establish a centralized nation where a bulk of the populace can mingle, trade and live. Every nation is this war is destabilized without a constant flow of bloodshed, these nations will unfortunately never reach a golden age of prosperity on their own and it is unfortunate that the minds of children are what govern these nations for centuries." mutters Tarkus, off in the wilds of axios
