the gm isn't there to roleplay with you, the gm is there to moderate and has other modreqs to get to. i mean if you really jizz at overly lengthy emotes and don't give a flying **** about your quota or your own rp, then sure ill write a little novella for you about me unlocking the door. but it's just a waste of time otherwise

We've had bandit groups in the past who's RP heavily revolves around breaking into places. Rather than these groups giving off bad RP - we'd like them to be setting an example of what villainy roleplay is and how it should be done correctly.

How exactly is breaking into places bad roleplay?

Because it hurts the feelings of oh so sad little tavern roleplayer?

Is the CT still a place where lockpicks are sold, because I only just found where they were sold, came back after this post, poof when the picks, and I know this was probably done in an attempt to get people to explore the three maps, but I'm highly lazy and don't want to go trapsing about the maps if all I have to do regarding a door is bash the living crap out of it, if there's one at the CT then maybe I could actually be persuaded to search the maps

Also Wrynn if you were in charge of lockpick placements then you should expect what occurred regarding me and the search for the guild to happen again

Nah, I'm not saying that when you break into a place it's bad roleplay. I'm just saying it can be done quite poorly - so this is to try and prevent people from doing so.

Can you please give an example of "poorly" in this case please?

*Kicks down the door.* (Poor Roleplay) Rather than. *Sugs's gaze averts from the door. His eyes letting his moving about the surrounding area and he would survey the immediate space. After seeing nobody was about he would take a few steps back, raising his shield towards the wooden door. Henceforth, he would charge towards the door, his feet brining him forward to bash the shield and his frame into the wooden structure.*

Makes the roleplay more fluid and enjoyable as it actually paints a picture of what is occurring rather than a short emote just to get loot.

except under the rules that should be all that's necessary

People shouldn't have to write unenjoyable 2 sentence books to kick open a door when a *attempts to kick open the door emote would completely suffice. It's not poor villainy RP if you're emoting everything and not bullshiting.

I don't see the purpose in writing a huge amount for something that can easily be explained in a few words. Obviously if it's a complicated action more will be necessary but kicking down a door is not that complex and the action itself is relatively easy to understand.

this is dumb. why waste time with so many emotes when the only one seeing them is the gm who just wants to get on to his next modreq or back to rp?

And that is what we are saying, the people that still wish to give the bare minimum with their emotes. They will just face the consequences of having a larger emote range and possibly more people knowing what they are doing. The goal is to try to award people who actually do try to do good emotes and cover all the bases and try to make as little noise as possible.

that is dumb as ****

what is the point of writing a long emote for an easily understood and non-complex action

you can't even bash in a door quietly in ANY manner, and lockpicks are literally silent

there's no amount of words that can change the facts

So, a lot of people literally do, "*bashes door". We get quite a lot of people doing things like that and whilst yes it is a correct emote, you wouldn't kill someone with an emote like that. You could perhaps explain it a little more, "*grits his teeth as he peers over towards the bolted door. He'd quickly flick his gaze around him before leaning foward with his feet gritting into the ground beneath him. He'd suddenly launch off towards the door, his side ramming into it quickly." And you know that's something from the top of my head that took less than 20 seconds.

We're not forcing people to have more descriptive emotes, we're just trying to encourage them to do so. As when people do "*bashes door." it doesn't really advertise villainy roleplay very well when there are such better ways it can be used.

In my desperate times and when I'm feeling like causing mischief, I'll go door to door breaking and still do the good looking emotes, it makes anyone around get the point of what you're doing more clearly

abcabcabcabcabcabcabcabcabcabcabcabc

so how are you encouraging them to do so

and what's the purpose of writing such a complicated emote for a simple action

*bashes door is kind of bad and doesn't make grammatical sense

*bashes the door would be something more acceptable - I think the sentences should atleast try to make sense at the very least.
