Apostolic Apathy

An Indictment of Moral Perversion by the

Holy Canonist Church

8th of The Deep Cold, 1660

 

 

 

Holy people of GOD,

Never must we forgo our responsibilities as caretakers of the Canon and the virtues imparted to us by the Exalted. However, we know as mortals that our fallacies and errant habits are an intrinsic nature to our very humanity. But, this should not excuse our actions as it is vital that we remain stalwart and vigilant in our own accountability and sinful doings that we have entrenched ourselves in. I write to you, dear brethren in faith, to endure in the tribulations that GOD has presented to us as we test the fortitude of our morality and our consciences to stand firm to expose the corrupt and weaken the vile. Our faith is a guide to salvation. The shepherd herds his flock to the Waters of Gamesh and to the virtues and teachings of the Exalted’s testaments. Yet, our Holy Father has adopted a new ministerial norm: using the crook of his staff to herd the sheep to the wolve’s den! I am convinced now, more than ever that the hierarchy of the Holy Canonist Church has diminished its own spiritual authority in favor of political power as it consorts with the violence of Renatian dominion.

 

I recall during my tenure as High Pontiff with the care entrusted to me by the Sacred Synod to mediate the tripartite human kingdoms as established by my predecessor to promote the dignity and unity of Horen’s descendants. With the then recent imposition of the Crown of Renatus to His Majesty, Aurelius Canonius Horen, the plight of humanity was negatively altered and I soon feared that the interests of such unity and dignity would be obscured by the ambition of this undeserving behemoth. The then King of Marna His Majesty Fredrick Pius had expressed to me his desire to convoke a meeting to discuss the matters of state and the policies of the Church in this new realm. Unbeknownst to me, the King of Renatus arrived and partook in our deliberations. I recall a draft as a result of their concurrence to establish a dual monarchical hegemony to which I refused, believing it to be an unequal concentration of human greed. It was the strength of the Godhead that I attribute to declining the assent of the Church, and by now, we know what the outcome is as they have structured this very same institution. Many kingdoms have become subject to their incursions and intimidation. The toppling of the Global Assembly and the dissolution of the Czena Confederation are prime examples of their quest to eliminate all those that oppose them rather than respecting institutions that dignify our human unity and peace.

 

I respond to the accusations made by the barbarians that I used the powers of the Holy Office of the Pontificate and their outlandish belief that my biases favored the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska as Vicar of GOD. I entered ministry when I was fourteen and have lived under the Imperial banner as a proud Canonist of the Heartlands with a keen understanding of the flock. As I near sixty years, I reflect in my ministerial philosophy, to preach the mercy and love of a Creator that does not systematize salvation through the corrupt perversion of the Church and its leaders. I say, with firm conviction and with the Exalted as the witnesses to the truth in my words that these are self-serving assumptions to justify their own puppetry over the Church. My resignation was the culmination of my belief that the Church and that of humanity as a whole would be safely mediated by a successor with great merit and credibility. Little did I know now that this is truly not the case. As I am branded a “puppet” by the horde of barbarians, my successor has acted with the entire interest of Renatus in his mind, absent of any conviction for GOD and unity in the flock and becoming the very puppet of this backward kingdom.

 

I have sought Faith and Order throughout my Pontificate, the guiding motto of my reign. With these reflections in mind, I find that our Church today has no faith nor order.  I urge His Holiness to reconsider in the nature that he exercises his ministerial authority. The Pontificate is an office above the toils of secular interests. He is the mediator of faith in all of humanity, not just the few.

"No such invasion occurred by the OSL. If you would call killing undead beasts and protecting clergymen who visited Haense. The OSL got involved when the alliance between Norland and Haense was created as various Haensetic soldiers and norlandic pagans have sought to raid Judeburg, killing any clergymen they find including attempting to murder His Holiness. Bishop Berdisleyev agrees with Walter, recalling no aggressions from the Church until Haense allied itself with Norland and later employed Reiver bandits to kill Clergy and Ordermen on sight.

The Pontiff-Emeritus somehow responds in the process! Explain to us why Renatus first decided to forge an alliance with the kinslayers of Krug and a Dominion of Magic using Elves out of desperation. Surely the Defender of the Faith has a reputation of human superiority and repulsing paganism. However, the alliance of Haense and Norland was made after this alliance between Renatus and its goons was formed, out of defense. In your other comments, you mentioned that the OSL was only involved after Haense allied pagans, why not defend the Canonists of Haense from Orcs and Elves? Because Renatus was leading the charge.
