Antonious Horen watches from the safety of St. Helena Palace as his city is sacked by the Seventh Sons, waving his fist shouting obscenities

The Sack of St. Helena

It was a cold, dark day as the people of Renatus stirred merrily in their streets.  Noblemen and women alike mingled in the square, their sense of false superiority unrivaled in this day in age.  A particular nobleman would gaze outward across the bridge entryway, sipping on his goblet of red wine as he saw the glint of torch fire.  He would finish swallowing his alcoholic drink as he turned his body once more to face the opened gate, furrowing his brow as he squinted at the dark figures rushing across the bridge.  “Oh no,” was all that could be heard from the man as the pale tabard of the Seventh Sons was spotted.

A panicked city would find itself at the mercy of these mercenaries, previous encounters only had their garrison fight incursions with these men outside the walls… this time however it would seem they’ve come for everyone within.  The noblemen and guards took up swords and shields at once, the women and children hiding in the homes as fires began to take root from the raider’s torches.  All of the faces helmeted behind the pale armour as their swords were unsheathed, the rasp of the blade enough to make your hair stand on end.  The battle would commence with one man drowned in the fountain square, the rest hunted down like maggots as they scuttled through the city’s alleyways attempting to escape.

As the last of the St. Helena garrison were cut down, news would come to the attention of Serjent Halfdan, current commander of the mercenary forces.  It would seem Haense had sent reinforcements through the gate of St. Helena to stop the fires and see to it the raiders were brought to heel.  Cleverly, Halfdan had hid most of his men in the housing district as a bait to draw these attackers out of the palace and the front gate alike.  One final battle would commence before the raid would seem all the more won for the assailants.  All of the defending force had been slain, only Antonious Horen stood at his balcony of the palace… watching as his beloved city and people burned while he did nothing to stop it.

”truly an epic fight lads” declared wise dark elf bandit of norlandic descent, having come victorious and on top after an hour-long duel with the orenian finest – a peasant child with a wooden sword; truly, all the undeserved victories of the orenian horde gained through sky-daemon sorcery (vjorhelm, ruriksgrad, castle mehran) paled in comparison to the epic, titanic struggle of two equal forces – the morally good dark elven bandits of norlandic descent and orenian “e-girls”, as the sky-daemons would put it

A certain gent of fine repute, surveying the Seventh Sons as they withdraw from their victory, smiles and ponders. “Perhaps these may be the ones I seek the assistance of in restoring my family. . . “

Hannibal gets on his knees and cries over all the senseless violence! "Oh, those absolute barbaric monsters, those Seventh Sons! Ave Humanity! Ave! Ave! Perhaps the Emperor will save us himself!" he wailed.

The powerful Waldenian man known as Jan Ritter von Alstreim sheds a single tear – not for the slain women and children, but for the pathetic rally of bandits who dare not face the Emperor’s finest, having lost every single major battle they’d fought in the past seventy years and utterly refusing to accept their countless deaths; resorting instead to taking pride in civilian massacres or defeating elven children upon the roads, to hide their shame. He then continues his vacation in the tropical realms of Sutica.

Csaba quietly wonders if this man is living in a parallel universe, where the entire imperial rally hadn’t been crushed by a mediocre turnout of Reivers as they sallied out to save the emperor at the crossroads, where they hadn’t been defeated on the steps of the Ves gate by the Sons of Seventh, where they hadn’t been constantly humiliated and defeated in their own capital by bandits who could have easily been kettled in and shot with arrows from the city’s high walls. He wonders if the forces of Renatus will ever resort to any strategy other than charging in, getting killed en masse, and then rationalizing it later as the headache from the Monks wore off.

“I remember chasing down one of these... Seventh Sons and hearing the sky-daemons had struck him down after we had struck down them down... Hm...” Philippe muses about the dead Seventh Son who logged off combat.
