“We come as Crows”

As the sun slowly began to set over Reza and the moon started to illuminate the dark lands of Arcas, the old Knight and Duke, Ser Henrik Ludovar, entered within his manor. After making his way inside, he made his way upstairs to which he felt the slight heat that came from the fireplace. Upon feeling the warmth of the fire he took a seat near it as a maid later entered the room bringing his Carrion Black before leaving him to retire for the rest of the night.

After he had finished his drink he began to think at the times of his youth where he picked up his sword riding into battles and fighting in bloody sieges under the banners of the late King Robert and King Marius II Barbanov. The thought of such also reminded him of his time when he was knighted by the late King Robert even though he never wanted it, yearning instead for the life of a scholar or statesmanship for the Kingdom.

Henrik let out a slight smirk of the thought of how his life had changed the day he was knighted until he remembered when his life truly changed which was when his wife, Kattarina Stafyr, who stumbled upon his manor during her first visit in Markev seeking for her cousin, Lord Sergei Stafyr who was Lord Marshal at the time.

Upon the thought of her, he remembered how beautiful she was at their wedding day and how she later gave him the greatest gift of all, his three children along with bringing her sweet smile and laughter to the Ludovar manor.

A single tear slowly began to slide down upon the man’s’ old wrinkled face. He began to reflect on the things he wished his wife could have experienced with him if she had lived longer than she did like their children's weddings and their wonderful grandchildren that they had received from those marriages.

While thinking of his life he also remembered his little sisters, uncle, and cousins that were gone and left him many years ago. After the thought of the many deaths, he had to suffer through, he let out a slight yawn before he would slowly make his way towards his room hearing the slight sound of the floorboards while he walked towards his room. As he made it towards his room, he began to shuffle through papers laying his written will on the desk like every other night before he laid down to rest.

Ser Henrik Ludovar, circa, 1705

__________________________

After a few minutes of struggling to fall asleep he always wondered when he will reunite with his beloved wife and the family he had lost along with his dear friends Ser Dominic, King Robert, King Marius II, Ser Bjolfr, Count Leopold, Ser Ulric, and Prince Georg.  Henrik then began to gaze outside of his window towards the night sky seeing the silver light of the moon. While he continued to stare at the moon, a smirk began to form on the old man’s face at the thought that he had lived through nine emperors and three kings. Henrik chuckles a bit before he slowly closed his eyes falling asleep though for his eyes would open no more. He would then be able to descend to the seven skies where he could now be able to peacefully rest forever with his wife, son, family, and friends.

Ser Nikolaus Kortrevich would retrieve the news regarding Ser Henrik's passing. He would then quote a segment of a tenet and doctrine he swore to uphold since the day he was knighted underneath the Knightly Order of Bihar.

“To serve your King, and God, in both valour and faith.”

“Ser Ludovar without a shadow of a doubt served his King and God in both great valour and faith. Henrik served underneath three Kings of Haense and lived through four and till the day he let out his last breath he served each one with exceptional prowess. Throughout his tenure apart of the Marian Retinue, serving directly to the King of Haense; Ser Henrik sought only to fulfill his duty to protect and defend the King and the royal family of Haense. While knighted by the late King Robert, he also fervently served his House with great honor and prestige. My friend, while you were stubborn at times and proved to be rather difficult to become acquainted with; overtime we became close and garnered much respect for each other. I hope now as you’ve descended to the seven skies that you are in a state of happiness where you are able reconnect with your love ones.”

Andrik upon hearing the news of the death of his loyal retainer and vassal grunted as he shook his head “I tol’ the ***** he was abou’ to die soon! Fuckin’ knew it” he’d say with a brief chuckle as he poured himself a cup of Carrion Black, moving to go and stand by the balcony with a sigh glancing up towards the clouded morning sky “Rest well, ol’ Crow.. One day we will meet again.” he’d raise his cup towards the sky before going to down its content, promptly tossing the cup out from the balcony and into the moat afterwards.
