Kaelan Aldin notices his mal’onn Storm enter, offering a brief nod of his head.

”Unfortunately I stand by the use of our helmets, I do not see the need to be rid and away of them. The discontent and mistrust you speak of comes from those which were Okariran who were against the use of Sillumir being bound to the Okarir’tir, rather than having themselves thrown to the will of each and every Okariran.

In my own experience, I never had any issue obtaining information from our ‘thill, my solution towards the issue at hand regarding anonymity is something I am willing to compromise with. So I encourage you to be patient during the reforms, once they come to light. Ultimately, through what I have been taught we do not serve the nation for valor or honour, neither do we serve it to be recognised by our peers. After all, why should we be praised for the impurities that we commit? We are the weeping blades, I would like to see your statistics for the claims that you make, mal’onn Storm. These statistics of ‘all time high cooperation’ would be greatly appreciated.

To say that our ‘thill called us ‘cowards’ for not revealing our faces deeply concerns me, after all. For I had not heard these allegations before.

I encourage you to post the statistics you have regarding your statements and look forward to reading them.”

Then turned towards Elahern

” Alluin is a good candidate, Elahern, please do not sabotage his candidacy by making him appear weak.”

Then looked to Elrion, having met the ‘thill many, many years ago.

”Karin, Elrion, welcome to the debate! How do you propose we move forward, as a nation? It has been some years since your appearance into the fray, I am keep to get an understanding of what you would plan to do moving forward!”

Elahern would stand up to the Maheral
”In all respect Elmaheral, however we recently had a citizenship purge in which those who did not responded in time have been scrapped of the ledger assuming death. Kaelan did not responded in time, and so he has no right on citizenship. I do not want to undermine your authority, however in a democracy we cant favorise people. Rules are rules.” the elf stated

Kaelan Aldin looks over towards Elahern

”Elahern, might I remind you that the system we had just overtook was a corrupt regime? Any and all that had known me knew I was still alive. You claim citizenship was purged on the basis of individuals being assumed dead, yet here I stand, alive and well. SERVING Haelun’or, as I have always done.”

Ikur smiles warmly at the man. “I appreciate your ardor, Mister Aeth’sulier, but we do not accept purges exercised under tyranny. If you wish to debase Mister Aldin, I suggest you try your hand at arguments before you attempt to create technicalities. Continue as you were, but do try to be respectful of your fellow Mali’thill,” he states, though that smile never quite reached his eyes.

The old elf sits back down, content now to continue to watch.

Alluin just lofts a brow at the dramaking-like entrance of Elrion, further ignoring the ‘thill, as he was formulating an answer of Storm’s questions. Storm had made some good points, and Alluin enjoyed the tension among the debating ‘thill, while carefully starting to speak. “Ahern ito nae’leh, Storm, for your contribution. You have pinned down matters I have thought about before running for this position, and which are the main points I will have to focus on, whether I will be elected or not.”

A short silence fell over those gathered, and the sudden appearance of elmaheral didn’t calm Alluin’s nerves very much. “I know my weaknesses. My presence has been one of these in the past years, and I emphasize, the past years. With the decision to run for this position, I took the responsibility to show my presence more, not only among elsillumiran, but in among our lliran in general. I will continue this presence to the best of my abilities, whether I will be elected or not.”

He looked over at Kaelan to see if he wanted to reply to Storm’s questions before he continued. “In terms of my abilities as an okarir’tir, I cannot call upon earlier experience, as Kaelan does. Ti, I have been an officer since a long time, but these titles never bestowed the responsibilities upon me which the title of okarir’tir will do. I am glad to hear that, despite of this, you have trust in my capabilities. I do so as well, but I realise that your,” *he gestured at the current officers, “help will be much needed. I trust in de capabilities of all of you, and I could not run for this office if I did not know I would have capable men and women to support me in that.”

He inhaled, allowing some time for the ‘thill gathered to give their ears rest and for himself to formulate the next sentences. “Summarised, I will be more present, and, in case I am elected, I will do all that lies within my abilities, knowing that I can rely on an experienced group of officers to guide me in these efforts.”

Storm would loft a brow, shifting in his seat. His brows would lightly knit together, as he stands back up to reply to Kaelan’s counterargument

“Statistics are not needed. I experienced the distrust and resentment that the anonymity cause firsthand, and any fellow Sillumir that served during that phase can agree with me. We were called cowards and ‘thill openly admitted that the masks and anonymity led to their distrust of the Sillumir. I am certain other citizens can corroborate such information. It was more than just the Okariran that held a distrust for the Sillumir, many of the denizens did as well, something I noticed myself. You encourage me to post statistics, as if distrust is measured and applied, but my firsthand experiences before and after you left are statistics themselves. Simply because it is something you did not notice or failed to notice does not mean it never happened and wasn’t present. It was very obvious that there was a certain distrust during that time. Perhaps we ought to gather some citizens from that time and conduct a poll, if you truly want statistics.”

”And again, you were absent during the second phase of the Weeping Blades that served the Silver State, and I’m certain any Sillumiran brethren that were present can attest to the increased trust and cooperation. Such trust led to the citizens reporting the presence of shades and dark mages in Haelun’or, such as the shade posing as Aerendyl’s wife, and other such individuals, such as Nerithil, whom was a well known shade. All reported by citizens to the Sillumir on a basis of trust. Should you desire statistics, then look at the history of the time you were absent, and it will clearly show said correlation.”

”Admittedly, we Silver blades do not serve for valor or honor, but to protect our fellow ‘thill. Part of that protection is trust. And it is important that the ‘thill know who they are safeguarding their lives to. For all they know, a mali’ame or mali’fenn could be hiding under the helmet, under the armor. I would certainly not trust my life to anonymous puppets wandering around, nor do I think a citizen would, either. The ‘thill must know their guardians, so they are ensured that the faces behind the masks are guarding their best interests.”

”Finally, it should be very evident that as an Okarir’tir, you are serving not yourself, but your denizens. Perhaps a poll ought to be conducted first, so as to receive feedback from citizens before you implement such a controversial method? I think that would be for the best. I can say for certain that if anonymity is re-instated, I will ne be joining the Sillumiran ranks.”

“Storm makes good points regarding anonymity, but I believe Kaelan would be the best fit for the position.” Dead Nehtamo said to no-one as he overlooked the proceedings. He then began to rant to himself about being dead, annoyed that no-one could actually hear him. Or maybe they could. How intriguing.

Alluin sighs and rose, intrigued by the debate, but starting to feel the effects of the past weeks and the intense discussion. “Lliran, do not take my earlier remarks about my experience with leading a military as uncertainty. As said before, I have served the Weeping Blades for many decades, the majority of these as officer. I am capable of tending to the duties of okarir’tir in all regards.”

After having made that clear, he turned to Storm and Kaelan, making his point in the anonymity issue. “Kaelan, I know you highly value the security of our brothers, and are convinced the anonymity contributed to that, but in this matter I must disagree with you. As Storm already stated, the removal of our anonymity highly improved our relationship with the citizenry and their willingness to cooperate with us.” Alluin spreads his arm, as to mention all the people gathered. Many of the lliran present will be able to confirm this. I do not have to add to the words of Storm, what he said is accurate and I can testify for that.”

After this, he sat down, waiting for more people or more questions to arise.

Kaelan looked towards those which continued to fight their stance regarding anonymity and popularity with the thill.

”Personally I cannot say that I have had any previous encounters with ‘thill to which I was called a ‘coward’, unless I was undertaking the tasks that were set upon me by the Elervathar Diarchy. that aside I am not here to ultimately be loved and adored by our ‘aheral for the acts I undertake, I am conducting a duty, a service. I concur, the cooperation from the ‘thill is key, but during my tenure I cannot say I struggled to obtain cooperation from our ‘thill. Which means I had failed you as pupils, were you to have been met with such disdain.

Might I remind you all of the reasoning behind the wearing of helmets and the anonymity’s purpose? Setting aside your own protection as well as your talon’iis? Or do you take pleasure in the sins you commit whilst on duty? Because I can tell you, for every drop of blood that is spilt, every life that is took in the name of el’Sillumiran. A piece of us is chipped away and not for one moment do I wish for my llir and talonn’ii to know of what we have done. If, for however, you do. I would highly recommend visiting the clinic for sectioning.”

Then looked back to Storm, a brow raised.

”I told all of you the suspicions that I had regarding Nerithil, as well as the evidence I had acquired, which is now missing, might I say. You prance it around as a unity of ‘aheral and our Sillumir when the investigation had already been concluded. I cannot recognise these claims of unity without paper statistics and active reports of collaboration from the citizenry to compare to the reports during my tenure under the basis of anonymity. Simply asking our dear ‘thill ‘What do YOU want?’ will not be required, if they have any concern they are welcome to debate it here, rather than answering a poll that can easily be rigged.

It may very well be put to a vote, whether anonymity stays, or goes. Yet you haven't the patience nor the trust in me to have faith in what is to come, an equal compromise that all would benefit from. But why would I divulge such information at this point of the debate? Ne doubt my competition would grasp a hold of it to try and form it into their own when we are yet to even hear what their plans are moving forward!

Alluin rose again after Kaelan’s words, seemingly a little more well-rested and ready for another round of debate. A small smile had curled around his lips at Kaelan’s last words, and he nodded at the one in question. “Ahernan, Kaelan, for your further explanation on the issue of anonymity. Of course, I do not expect you to explain in detail what you are planning, but I can assure you I will not ‘steal’ your plans.”

He stretched a little bit to be able to oversee the gathered ‘thill. “First of all, at the start of this new round, lliran, I will all thank you for you presence, your support for either one of the candidates, and your questions. I hope that today, the debate will continue in the same spirit, and that it may be concluded with a choice based on what has been discussed in these debates.”

“In the past days, we discussed the capabilities of the candidates as military leader and strategist, their experience and possible weaknesses. My ahernan go all all of you who questioned these, and I think both I and Kaelan have talked extensively about these.”

Alluin took a moment, weighing his words. “One moment in the debate earlier, however, I cannot approve of. I know Elahern meant well by mentioning it, but I want to make clear I do not support such arguments. If Kaelan’s citizenship was indeed a problem and you knew of this, you should have mentioned it before the debate. If you did not know before the debates started, you could have approached elmaheral in private. In the way you did it now, it appears as if I would be scared to face Kaelan in debate, and look for an ‘easy way’ out, which is not the case. Of course, I am standing here to be elected okarir’tir, but I could never be proud of it if it had happened in such a way.” After these words, he smiled reassuringly at Elahern. “Of course, I do appreciate your support, and I know these times have been hard on you. I hope you will continue participating in this debate.”

Again, he took a short pause, drinking a sip of water and looking around if someone wanted to interrupt or add something. “I will use this moment to make a final stand on the anonymity issue. It has now been discussed quite extensively and I think all the pro’s and con’s are clear, which is why I think a final remark may be sufficient, so that we have room left today for other issues.” This time his gaze shifted back to Kaelan. He could not see the expression of the other, but felt the competitive tension and enjoyed it. “As I stated before, Kaelan, I know your view on anonymity and I respect your values, but I can not support them. Anonymity was only lifted after you departed, and you have not experienced first-hand the effects of it. Of course, our duty consists of parts we are not proud of, but every citizen of elcihi knows that. They know that we do suffer and weep in silence for their security, their freedom, for maehr’sae hiylun’ehya. They see the faces they know, they see their family and friends offer up their beauty,” his gaze was still fixed at Kaelan, “their personal betterment and sometimes even their lives. It is not a matter of ‘popularity’, as you stated, but of unity. We are part of them, they are part of us.”

Alluin sighed and his expression turned friendlier. “Of course, after the elections, we should discuss this further. However, today I would prefer to allow our gathered lliran to pose any other questions they might have on aspects of the okarir’tir’s duties. And maybe,” he looked around, searching for Elrion, “our third candidate wants to elaborate on his run for office?”

Looked over to Alluin, having noticed his opponents had been well rested!

“Karin’ayla, Alluin. It is good to see you once again after a long day yesterday. I trust you slept well? My comment was not only directed towards yourself, but rather the other candidate who has thus far remained relatively silent.”

Coughed to clear his throat, it was evident he was extremely tired.

“My opponent Alluin speaks truth, we have spoken extensively about the subject. I hope you are all satisfied about what has been said so far?

Once more, I would like to state that I have the perfect solution to all of this. It is relatively straight forward and to the point, maintaining ones anonymity but allowing them to know the individual behind the mask.

Ahernan for your debates, Alluin. They have kept me on my toes and given me much to think about, best of luck!”
