Origin

Spoiler

In an unknown time before the settlement of Almaris, there once existed a race of Umgorumm Dwedmar -- Cave Dwarves -- that resided in three major kingdoms. Once being prosperous nations with great underground networks, an earthquake from Northwestern Almarias triggered the eruption of a supervolcano, now presently the volcanic region surrounding Krugmar. The earthquake and subsequent eruption caused the three Dwarven nations to die out through various means. The rise and fall of these three Dwarven kingdoms are outlined below:

Haldrada resided in the northwestern regions of Almaris. The Haldradan Dwarves believed that they were superior blooded to the rest of their kin in the other kingdoms, and as such were shunned by the other two kingdoms. Long in anticipation for war, they stockpiled the highest amount of siege engines and rare resources out of the three kingdoms that existed. However, since they lived so close to the at-the-time inactive supervolcano, it caused half of their kingdom to be literally blown apart, and the other half to be either drowned by lava or starved to death due to cutoffs from the surface as a result of fallen ash.

Xelphos was a kingdom built on the opposite end of Haldrada. Mainly building their siege engines in anticipation for conflict with Haldrada, but not to such an extreme extent as them, their downfall was because of the earthquake that came before the supervolcano's eruption. Discovering a large plethora of Aurum and Carabarum in the parts separating the land from the sea, they dug too close to the ocean in search of more of it. In doing such, when the earthquake struck, the walls separating Xelphos and the water were broken, and the citizens drowned to death, the rest of them starving out due to the supervolcano's ash killing all surface life.

Prazia was founded within the southeastern mesas of Almaris, their capital built beneath a mountain which had presently become a volcano. Deeply religious, they were heavily devoted to runesmithing and built their entire kingdom in worship of the Brathmordakin, specifically Yemekar. However, they were hated by the other two kingdoms due to rumors of their government harboring Khorvadian runesmiths for the purposes of creating runic siege weaponry, an ambition surely befitting of Khorvad. The earthquake triggered a volcano from beneath their capital and blew it from the inside similar to what happened to Haldrada, and what remained of the Prazian kingdom was choked in ash and death like the other two kingdoms.

Details

Spoiler

To start off the event, an earthquake causes the entrances to all three of the Abandoned Kingdoms (Referred to herein as AKs) to reopen. Until depletion of each of the AKs, the AKs will be open to be explored by the various nations that currently exist in Almaris, as well as any other large player organization (Defined below). Expansionist Wars and Vengeance Wars can also be conducted under plausible RP reasoning in regards to the event, especially in concerns to runic items if they bring enough RP value to start such a conflict.

The "looting period" is meant to last three years (three IRL weeks) before the ruins have been fully depleted of resources. There is meant to be plenty of buildup for this event so that players can anticipate for what's to come. However, following the depletion of these ruins, they will still be able to be explored, and can be used for player-ran events or likewise from there.

The loot and resources to be found within the AKs are meant for nations and staff-approved, independent organizations of 20+ players only. Resources during this event are meant to be distributed at the staff team's discretion. However, to avoid favoritism, a maximum loot limit must be put in place.

The maximum amount of loot a nation can obtain from the three week period only is as follows:

  • 3 Cannon Engines
  • 5 Trebuchet Engines
  • 10 Catapult Engines
  • 15 Copper Ingot Stacks
  • 10 Ferrum Ingot Stacks
  • 3 Aurum Ingot Stacks
  • 32 Carabarum
  • 3 Runic Items*

The maximum amount of loot a 20+ player, staff-approved independent organization may obtain from the three week period only is as follows:

  • Either 1 Cannon Engine, 2 Trebuchet Engines, or 3 Catapult Engines
  • Either 3 Copper Ingot Stacks2 Ferrum Ingot Stacks32 Aurum Ingots, or 8 Carabarum
  • 1 Runic Item*

*Runic items and their respective effects and tiers are determinate by ST members. They ideally should be written to have CRP or vanity value as well as solid lore implementation.

Purpose (OOC)

Spoiler

There are three OOC purposes for this event.

1. Conflict -- The underground kingdoms are to be placed either at or near the borders of the various player kingdoms. The reason why is because this event is meant to incite and encourage war between nations. At the same time, independent player organizations who have gained notable traction deserve to be involved in such conflicts, either as supporting entities during nation-to-nation conflicts or to incite conflict as their own entities. Due to the above mentioned runic items that can also be implemented into the event, there's a potential for long-term player conflict depending on the runic items' RP values to an individual nation/organization.

2. Player Familiarization -- This event helps familiarize the playerbase with runic items and rune based magic. There will also be the potential for the server's first introduction to war-based conflicts in the new Almaris map.

3. Historical Value -- As Almaris is a fairly new map, there is a plethora of room to add various pieces of lore into its land that could pre-date the "colonization" of the new continent. The addition of three new explorable ruins will be able to help in this new implementation. This lore event also gives reasonable implication to the existence of the volcanic planes near Krugmar as well as the volcano in the southeastern corner of the new map, and allows for historical lore to be added regarding the three Dwarven kingdoms involved in the event, and perhaps more about the other ancient kingdoms that could have once existed in Almaris pre-colonization.
