[!] A flyer would be distributed round all of Almaris with elegant calligraphy in Li-Wen and common translation underneath. Not only that, but on the bright red paper was a shining gold border, and engraved on the very top was an ox, the zodiac of the New Century!

Dear Reader, you are formally invited to join the citizens of Tai Ping in celebrating the Tai Ping Nian Festival!

This year’s celebration will be packed with festivities - one for each month! So don’t fret if you miss out on one event, for there is sure to be another that you can participate in.

Spoiler

OOC: Basically we decided to kill ourselves with events and run ONE EVERY DAY AT 6PM EST(ish)  FOR A WEEK ;-;

Please show up :)

ITINERARY:

The Amber Cold: Eve of Battle

Something is stirring in the jungle surrounding Tai Ping. Unearthly howls and the sky darkening overhead fore-shadow the age-old curse that followed the Li-Ren here all the way from the old shores of Ai-Zho. Could it be the Nian beast? Or something worse… ? Brave the dangers dear adventurer, and mayhap you’ll be the one to save Tai Ping from this travesty.

OOC: THIS WILL BE HELD AT 9PM EST MONDAY 1st FEB

The Deep Cold: Cleansing Ritual

As the turn of the new year appears round the bend, families and friends alike begin a large-scale purification rite where the burdens and sins of the past are cleansed by fire. If you have any deep confessions now is the time to rid yourself of them.

Snow’s Maiden: Firework Feast

With the Nian festival now in full swing, join us for the grand opening feast. There will be fireworks, dances, and memories to last a lifetime! Those that helped aid us during the Eve of Battle might even get a present~

OOC: All food will be purchasable from food stalls at Tai Ping. Likewise, all merchants are welcome to come set up shop here to sell their wares, provided they respect the locals and local culture.

Malin’s Welcome: Spice Challenge

For the scant travellers and intrepid brave souls that have encountered this challenge via the Li-Ren Llama Caravan, you know that when I say this is a challenge that will surely roast your tongue and test the mettle of your gut, I am not lying. Those who manage to conquer the test will be awarded the Title of ‘Spice King’ and a special token proving such from the Li-Ren.

OOC: Participation is 4 mina a person, you get to keep all rp food items you receive. There will also be tea on site in case your character does indeed roast their tongue.

The First Seed: Lion Dancing Competition

As the guardians of the Li-ren people, a special competition will be held to honour the Twin Lions. Only the fittest and most agile of climbers, capable of leaping from rooftop to rooftop will be selected to become the avatars of the Lions and honour them with the Lion dance.

OOC: This is basically a parkour competition. The route will be marked out with red carpet and acacia signs. Participation is free.

The Grand Harvest: Dragon Dance Parade

A celebration of the Nian festival is never complete without the classic Dragon Dance. The Li-ren will bear a dragon banner, hoisted by multiple people during the parade across all of Almaris. People from all over are welcome to participate, or even become part of the dragon. The parade will proceed through all settlements before finally looping back to Tai Ping, completing the full circle.

OOC: Basically a long line of people wearing dragon heads snaking down the roads, into your settlement and then out. It costs 5 mina a dragon head if you want to join the long snek and jump around with us. :)

Sun’s Smile: Red Packet Day

As a close to the festivities of the Nian festival, the last month will be a month of giving. Friends and neighbours will trade little Red Packets, filled with good wishes and even a bit of mina! This is a show of the community’s prosperity as well as friendly relations with visitors too - should they choose to participate.

OOC: These will be sold at the Tai Ping government house for 1 mina per red packet

Chen Wenya runs through the musical arrangement once more for today, smiling at her sister Yunya as they finish practice. @tadabug2000

@Rapture"Wenping-" Chen Yunya called in a lilting tone, pointed ears flicking back as she'd gesture out, ribbons still following her movements. "Do you think this is good enough for the performance?"

A pamphlet is carried by the wind, then lands on the rough gravel. It crunches as Lorrick steps on it. He picks it up and reads it. "A festival. That is most interesting, to be sure. Now, to figure out where this 'Tai Ping District' is..."

Watching as everyone practiced and make their own preparations, Xiahong was more than enthusiastic his he decorated his own stall in all red for the year- these events being what he was looking forward to for months! As he donned his red hanfu, he held on tightly to a certain little box, in which he planned on making use of sometime during the celebrations...

Ripplewick had spent a lot of time in Talon's Port as of late.  He was elsewhere, though, when he discovered this flyer.

It seemed too serendipitous to ignore, and he made a note that he should attend...

Besides, Ripplewick would never miss an event with food stalls.
