The Principality of Savoy has a history of militant predecessors, from the Evisherard Brigade to the more recent Blackwald Company. Shifting and adjusting to new advancements in the realm, the Crown of Savoy deemed it fit for a new force to encompass its martial hand. 

 

As the established military, the Legion assumes offensive, defensive, and law enforcement responsibility over the Principality and works to protect and defend its homeland above all costs in servitude to its people, the Crown, and the Lord GOD.

 

Rights

 

    - To recruit, employ, and maintain a standing military force using state resources.

    - To manage matters of manpower, discipline, and leadership internally.

    - To carry out and enforce the laws and policies of the State and the Crown.

    - To detain, search, arrest, and punish individuals within the territory of Savoy while in the enforcement of the law.

    - To search and seize property within the territory of Savoy while in the enforcement of the law.

    - To compel individuals within the territory of Savoy to comply with State, Crown, or Argent Legion directives.

    - To wear and carry, both openly or concealed, all grades of weaponry and armor.

    - To carry out the act of warfare against the enemies of the Principality of Savoy.

    - To restrict and control travel and entry to and from the Principality of Savoy, and the Free City of San Luciano.

 

Hierarchy

 

As The Argent Legion enforces its discipline and leadership internally, a strict hierarchy is crucial. The rank structure is essentially divided into two parts based on the duties of a particular rank. Higher ranks, which are more predominantly concerned with administrative issues, and lower ranks, which are more predominantly concerned with active duty. All ranks can be identified as Legionnaires.

 

Top members of Legion leadership, and those whose work includes advisory to the Lord Commander of miscellaneous clerical duties, are considered a part of the Praefectus Cabinet.

 

Lord Commander - His Lordship, Elijah Keen - The commander of all forces and administrator of the organization, tasked with carrying out Crown and Government policy in the military. The Lord Commander has complete control over managing the operations of the Legion to ensure they fulfill their objectives. Overseer and head of the Praefectus Cabinet.

 

Commander - Knightly Lord Augustin - The right hand of the Lord Commander, a direct extension of his authority and presence, responsible for enacting his vision within the Legion. The Commander will often be more directly engaged with the daily operations of the Legion while the Lord Commander sees to political and governmental issues. Serves on the Praefectus Cabinet. 

 

Lieutenant - An officer role responsible for the direct command of soldiers. Lieutenants are typically responsible for units of men numbering 6-10. Their duties, in addition to leadership while on duty, include the training and wellbeing of their men.

 

Sergeant - An enlisted role responsible for assisting their Lieutenant and leading small detachments of men. They often serve as an auxiliary squad leader, working with the Lieutenant while in larger squads, or acting as a squad leader when split into multiple teams. The Sergeant serves effectively as an extension of the Lieutenant, serving as an intermediary between the Lieutenant and the men.

 

Corporal - An enlisted rank reserved for more seasoned and exceptional soldiers which often serve as junior leadership. The Corporal takes on more responsibility than most men, and serves effectively as a role model.

 

Private - The standard rank of enlisted men, Privates are the universal soldier of the Legion.

High Advisor is a position outside the rank structure held by any non-Legionnaire chosen to be a part of the Praefectus Cabinet and aid in high-level planning or problem solving. High Advisors, while not authorized to give direct orders, should be treated with the same regard as a Lieutenant.

 

Advisor is a position outside the rank structure held by any non-Legionnaire which assists the Legion in any way other than as a part of the Praefectus Cabinet. They are not authorized to give orders, but should be treated with the same regard as a Sergeant.

 

Medic is a lateral position held by any Legionnaire. It holds no authoritative recognition, but is expected to be unimpeded as much as possible when tending to injured, and to give and be given special care to prevent their injury.

 

Armorer is the entrusted blacksmith of the Legion, as well as keeper of Legion resources. The Armorer is responsible for crafting, maintaining, and keeping inventory over the weapons, armor, and physical resources of the Legion.

 

Recruitment

 

The enlistment process is an easy procedure, but requires ultimate fealty to the Crown of Savoy and its residents. The individual must fill the following requirements, with few exceptions.

• Resident of Savoy

• Human* 

• Above 14 years of age

• Able Bodied 

• Unaligned with foreign powers

 

*Certain Non-Humans may be permitted to join under special conditions following an interview.
