[!] A small pamphlet bearing a symbol that has not been seen for some time makes its rounds around Honeyhill and elsewhere.

An Open Letter from an Improper Halfling

My name is Julie Riverwing. I am a resident of the village of Honeyhill and have been a loyal member of its community and that of Bramblebury before it. I am writing this letter to make the world aware of the hardships faced by improper halflings and bigguns in Honeyhill, and to inform my fellow Honyehill halflings and any others who may be interested in my efforts to resist this injustice through peaceful noncooperation with village authorities.

As certain missives issued by Thain Iris Peregrin may have revealed, my wife Elsie and I have been placed under arrest for locking the front the door of our burrow. Let it be known that we did this with full understanding that doing so is against village law. As we have explained to the Thain; we locked our door not out of serious concern for the safety of our burrow but because we believe it is our right to do so, and that the law that prohibits it is unjust. We did it because we agree with former Elder Greta Goodbarrel's famed declaration that all people are born free and equal and with certain rights such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, which cannot be taken away; that the authority of any leader comes from the consent of the governed; and that it is the duty of a leader to protect these rights by enforcing just laws.

However, the laws of Honeyhill as they stand are not just; they do not protect but harm our natural rights as people. They encourage discrimination against any who do not conform to traditional standards of properness. They outlaw basic freedoms such as the right to bear arms, to secure one's own home, and even to choose whether or not to wear shoes, and promote harrassment on the basis of race and lifestyle choices that harm no one.

Do not mistake this message for a call to revolution. We have not acted out of disrespect of the rule of law but out of respect for natural law. Though we believe some laws that she currently enforces are unjust, we recognize that Iris Peregrin governs Honeyhill with the consent of her people. It is for this reason that we are prepared to accept any punishment she decides to give us. We are ready to sacrifice anything if it means taking a stand against injustice. It is likely, then, that we will soon be banished, as we do not plan to obey the Thain's order to remove the lock on our door. Out of respect for Iris' authority as well as out of our committment to our cause we will obey her order to leave the village, but our voices will not simply go quiet then.

The time has come has come for the world to know that halfling hospitality as it once was is dead. Until the unjust laws are repealed and Thain Iris Peregrin steps up to be a leader for all halflings, Honeyhill cannot be anything more than a backwards town where people harrass anyone different from them and leaders force people out of homes they built with their own hands simply for protecting them. If you believe you, us, or anyone you know have been treated unfairly under the laws and customs of Honeyhill, then now is the time to make yourself visible and your voice heard. It is our hope that in not complying with these unjust laws, no matter the personal cost to us, we may show our fellow Honeyhill halflings, especially those in positions of power, the wisdom in allowing one's neighbor to live life as they please.

Signed,

Uncle, sat on the toilet, reaches to the stack of miscellaneous papers, having concluded the majority of his business. He squints down at the words, pops his glasses on as to be able to read them, then tuts.

"T'ey'd 'av' Arugulah drown us oll in t'eir pursui' uv t'e na'ural freedum t' piss uff dei'ehs. Ev'reh place 'as laws regardin' t'e local traditions. Go tew 'lysium if yeh don' loike bein' a weefolk."

He then wipes with the waste paper and returns to bumbling around the idyllic shire.

Iris would laugh as she reads the missive in her burrow, "Imagine asking a leader to respec' criminals. Oi will no' bend ter teh will of teh lawless.  An' ter continue wit' t'is na'ural righ's nonsense is asinine." she says before crumpling the missive and throwing it into the fire.

Roylan G Sirame blinked with a touch of surprise as his eyes fell upon a crumpled up piece of parchment on the ground as he was doing his usual exploring. Reaching down he plucked it up and smacked against the paper, getting the dust and dirt off it for a moment before his eyes fell upon the papers and read against the smudged text. "Improper halfling.....rights....revolution.,arrested for locking their doors?"  By the end of his reading a light ring of humour rolled from his lips!

"Of all the things to be happening before one's big birthday. Just what have I been missing in honeyhill since my last visit?"

A sleeping Onelia lays in a  flowerbed, flask in hand and drool trailing down the side of her cheek. A pamphlet flutters in the wind, landing open on the wee lass' face. She jumps up, flailing in a sort of fighting response before catching the pamphlet and pulling it open in front of her. She grunts, her slanted gaze trailing across the paper, "Some wee folk ough' ter be pu' downnn..." she groans before crumpling the paper up and clumsily moving to her feet. "Ah can't 'ave 'is trash litterin' me garden," she lazily grumbles, taking a swig from her flask before turning to stumble through the doorway of her burrow, where it can be presumed that she would throw the trash writing into her fireplace.

The resident goblin of Honeyhill reads the missive he was handed, before tossing his head back in laughter. He puts it back up, and dismisses it outright. "Iv dey wizhed zo badli tew chaynge da lawz, den dey zhuld bi klompin' tew bi Thayn... zertainli wuld dew moar fur dem agh dey lockz den kryin' abowt it." Ouch. What a scathing remark.

Daris Puffin of Honeyhill looks down to the letter after removing it from his mailbox reading through growing more and more confused the further he got. Sighs closing his eyes and recites a creed from memory" For all that I am, thanks be to Knox, all that I have, thanks be to Knox. I will not lock away his gifts nor will I hide my souls from his world, thanks be to Knox." Daris' hands fall to his sides the letter flowing free from his grasp caught and carried in the wind.

Elsie had already read the pamphlet a few times before it was sent out, sitting at her campsite and hoping that all this would be worth it in the end.

Anne, meanwhile, reads the pamphlet and rolls her eyes, then going to head into the village anyways so that she could go instigate some more.

Callum Fiddleberry would peer at the missive, holding it up high just out of reach of his daughter Mary who pestered him to allow her a glance as he passed by.

"Bigguns an' impropehs facin' 'ardships? T'ey ac' loike t'ey feckin own t'a place, et's us facin' 'ardships ef anehting... can't 'ave a decen' nap withou' some 'uman stompin' aroun' n' makin' t'a earth shake wif t'eir damned boots..." He'd mumble with a disgruntled sigh, shuffling over to an armchair in his burrow's living room. "Ef yeh 'ate bein' an 'alflin' so much jes' leave! No cause in star'in a fuss n' disrespec'in ou' culture in t'a process-" he'd pause, an eyebrow lifting as he spots the Goodbarrel stamp on the pamphlet, looking up and letting out a light chuckle, "Ah- t'ey're Gre'a's relatives. T'at explains et..." The halfling lad would shake his head before holding out the paper to his daughter who hovered over his shoulder, the halfling girl running off with the page to either doodle over or use for paper hats.
