“I swear to you, Your Imperial Highness Prince Peter, I shall follow you with my blade and die by your command- you are my liege.” The young Carrion would say to the young Prince of Oren who had become his best friend, a man he wished to serve till his death took him. Who knew this day would come so soon.

Through the years his vision would begin to fade, blur and weaken- yet his love for his only true friend, Peter, would remain. Through his youth he would stay by his side, do anything the Prince asked, the young Carrion seeing him more as a brother than anything else. He did not have an exciting youth, but he enjoyed it. Over a decade he remained friends with the Prince, moving through those joyous days. Though the days of joy would not last for long. With the deaths of the Emperor and Empress came the civil war- the man doing as he said almost a decade ago, siding with his friend Peter the moment the call was given, despite his father siding with Frederick.

The only one of his family besides his son Julius, he would continue his works- doing his best to serve his Lord as he would gather bannermen and funds in the hopes of making a difference in the war. Each day he grew more hopeful as he watched his brothers come to side with him- come to fight for his friend. Though this hope would not last for long, on the day their city had finally been finished the enemy would attack. The ensuing battle being a bloody one that went into the walls of Oren- Floryan would watch his allies slain around him. . Death on those he had just been drinking with, yet he could think naught of it as a warhammer hit his helm- vision going black.

And so he awoke on the damned battlefield- wounded and barely able to stand. He would begin instantly to look for his friend, his Emperor. Yet he could not find him, being told that he was taken to the palace for his execution- so that is where the wounded man would limp, stepping past the fallen and those who laughed at the dead. Yet still he moved forth.

Into the throne room he would step, standing beside the captured Empress as he saw his friend forced on the ground- “Frederick, King of Oren- I ask if I may die besides my liege” he would call forth towards the throne, the Empress beside him making the same request. He would see his friend turn, “Floryan, please leave”. Yet Floryan would refuse, he had made up his mind that if he were to live while his Lord died, he would not have fulfilled his oath. He asked once more if he would be given the permission to die at his friend’s side- he was refused.

And so with nothing left to do he would stab himself in the throat with a dagger, one he had held since he was a boy, being kicked to the ground as he did so. He would lay in the throne room, bleeding out slowly as his eyes looked to the only man he had trusted in his life, hearing the screams of Katerina, the woman he had longed to know better. . Yet he smiled. His oath had been complete, he would see his liege lord in the next life. One God, One Emperor, One Empire. The twang of a crossbow would be heard for a split second behind him before all went black.

Silence- the crow lay dead, for his duty was done.

To all those who I rped with through my time on Floryan, thank you. From Junoix, Da_Emperors, Remothy, BVRZVM, GlassySkies, Doreebear, Catalina, UnBaed, and any others I forgot to mention. Playing him has been a blast. I've played him since he was a small child to when he was legitimized as a Carrion, then now to his death at the end of the Brother's war. It was a true joy and I thank the other side of the war for allowing me to die beside his best friend.

Peter Augustus would look to his friend moments before his mind would filled with memories of his childhood alongside his closest friend. "Floryan, run -- please leave!" He would scream with his might. Knowing his request was rejected, his heart was torn to pieces. Tears were all that was left for Peter to offer as he knew what was to come.

Spoiler

Much love my man, thank you for making strong memories on this character since the first day I started playing it. Hope to see you around.

"Where's.. Where's my Pa?" Julius asked brokenly. The Words barely escaped the boy's mouth, speaking even as blood sept from his re-opened face injury. Platitudes were whispered, promises uttered. Content in knowing his father was safe, the Barrow slipped back into a deepened slumber.

In the dawn that came news of the Carrion's death spread. When the stragglers made their way into his place of recovery, Julius knew. Their looks of pity and grief told him all.

Oh, Julius realized. I have nothing, now.

"I don't know, We'll go looking for him later though, and leave your bandages be. Your hurt" the Young Vuiller told her friend as she tried to take care of her friend.

Laurelie's heart dropped when she heard the news of the man's passing. Nothing could be done but pray.

Pavel Barrow drew blood following the battle in the city. Whilst going to drag the man away, he watched as the Carrion attempted to kill himself in the presence of the King of Oren. Something inside the Ivanovich descendant's brain snapped, a physical reaction, a motion that moved without thought. He drew back his crossbow and then shot the man in the back of the head, before walking away with brain fog. In the chaos and the fog of war, he forgot he even committed the action, and returned to standing vigilance over the court.

Soot and dried flecks of ichor lined the family plate. A bastard's tawne claw inched for it, damp cloth in hand. With a tremble and a prod forth, it smeared along the cold metallic helm, wiping the filth from it. In the glint of the firm metal, his estranged chartreuse eye gleamed back at him. He gazed long and hard at himself... The set he polished had belonged to the butchered Carrion - Avram's half brother.

It was his to care for now - his to don and use to continue on the short lived legacy of the once Lord Carrion. In the memory of Floryan, the faux-Carrion managed a twitch of a smile - one that creased and cracked 'long his visage. Upon exhalation, he left the armor to dry.

Avram Barrow rasped a quiet "One day, brother," before he meandered on to make a deal.

Silent did the pale elven ally of the Carrion fall at the news of her friend's demise. She lurked at chapel after chapel, drifting between those places of worship out of respect and perhaps even in search of a sign, a symbol that Florian had found peace... Alas, none were found and soon the dejected Valindra found herself having to rejoin the common masses once more.

A cousin Carrion, unbeknownst to the fallen Floryan, bore witness to the young man's demise.

With wide, teary eyes did she watch as her kin fell to the floor onto a puddle of scarlet ichor and dismay.

"They are mad. ."

Swift murmurs to herself, then, her hastened departure.

Word eventually got to the departed Nesta, her head bowed in silent prayer as she thought about her first and only friend in Oren. She sniffled softly on her journey, blurry eyes watching the road ahead.

Liliya entered the courtroom soon after the event transpired, confused by the talk of eating hearts and execution.. She hadn't seen her half brothers body, thankfully, but her eyes did catch some of the others before she was swiftly pulled away by her father.

When he told her the news, her eyes filled with tears and the rage welled within her as it might for any grieving child. She just saw him, her brother Floryan who she was certain cared more for her in the short time they were able to speak than most people had for her in their whole lives. She had hoped she'd have more time with him.

She had just seen him.
