ISSUED AND CONFIRMED BY

HIS ROYAL MAJESTY KING FREDERICK I

TO OUR MOST BELOVED SUBJECTS,

His Royal Majesty, Frederick I, has fallen gravely ill. This tragedy befell him as he learned of the recent publication issued by the Barony of Acre by the lord Gustaf, a man regarded as the King’s brother-in-arms and the Godfather of his sons. Having seen this betrayal wreck the terms of his peace, the King suffered a minor stroke of his heart. He now resides in his chambers in the care of his family.

Pursuant to the conventions of authority as decreed by the law of the land, His Majesty hereby declares the appointment of a regency council until he has either recovered or his son, HRH The Prince of Providence, has witnessed his sixteenth birthday.

After the resignation of our former Lord Chancellor, Conrad de Falstaff, the Baron of Guise, we hereby name the Honorable Baron of Castille, Elric Castille, as Chancellor and Lord Protector. We invest in him the powers of the Crown and the execution of the law thereof, granting him sole executive prerogative for the regency’s duration.

In his capacity as Lord Protector and Regent, he shall steward a council in the name of the Crown to serve until the passing of the circumstances named therein.

HIS ROYAL EXCELLENCY, Elric Castile, Lord Protector of the Kingdom of Oren, Baron of Castille

THE HONORABLE, Conrad de Falstaff, Baron of Guise

"Oh my..." Odessa covered her mouth, reading the missive. "The man must be so faint of heart to die because his farm folk had finally stood up for themselves." The baroness adjusted her spectacles, and picked up her ornate, porcelain teacup, leaning forward to discuss the matter with her Barclay kin who'd joined her for an evening by the fireplace. She snickered then, folding the missive and casting it into the flames. "We will just have to see what happens next. How wild!"

Gawain, famed Grillmeister of Acre, flipped a steak and looked up at the evening sky.

"What a lovely night to grill."

Before the missive, tears staining its worn parchment, Mariano crumpled onto his knees. His mind drifted to those times, the young man he'd watched grow to take the throne and expel those who had tortured his people. He remembered the blade he raised for him, the late night they had sat shaken in a room muttering about the future. He remembered the promise he'd made, when he told Young Freddy it'd all turn out all right.

"Why must things always go this way?" He stuttered out in choked murmur, tossing the missive aside as his blubbering spiraled into a loud unfiltered sob.

"Why must we tear each other apart?"

The Princess Vivienna sat solemnly in her room, her brother having broken the somber news to her moments prior. The youth, having just returned from a rather rebellious stunt and confessing such to her gathered siblings, felt as if this was no one's fault but her own. She had told the universe of her hatred for the war and her subsequent imprisonment within the Castle Stassian, and it returned the energy in the form of her father's sickness. She felt guilt for the King's bedridden state, and translated such in quite sobs under the cloak of night, only heard if one were to press one's ear against her bedroom door.

The Princess Claudia was still sat on the couch where her sister had left her, blissfully unaware of the things happening around her. . .

"My brother... regent?Ottilie Franziska, a Castile from birth, squinted her eyes towards the missive with an expression of absolute astonishment. She was baffled to say the least, particularly as she recalled Elric burning down the Adriatic Court tent a few saint years prior.
