Be Thou Our Solid Rock

 

Our souls cry out in fervent prayer

To ward off the darkness' snares,

To strengthen against temptation's lure,

And find the path that leads to God.

 

O Lord, Thou art our shield and guide,

Our bulwark 'gainst the foe.

Immemorial, anon and ay,

Thou art everlasting night and day;

Time as naught, before Thy might,

Eternity, forever in Thy sight.

 

Unchanging, incorporeal essence,

Thou reign o'er all that comes and goes;

Undying memories precious kept, 

In Thine arms, all is safe and wept. 

 

Elderly wisdom, ageless grace,

Lord of Perfect Justice

 

Oh righteous Lord, adored by many, 

Your justice shines so brightly,

Your glory doth so expand and grow,

Stirring hearts with almighty awe!

 

For Thou art righteous, merciful,

On us Thy judgments justly fell,

Though we were lost in sin’s dark night,

Thy grace did fuel our will to fight!

 

Break forth in joy with mighty song,

Thanksgiving to the sovereign Lord, 

Let praise ascend to Heaven's height

Ascribing glory evermore!

 

Now, strengthened by Thy holy word,

We seek justice in all we do,

To compass right that brings return 

And mercy to the orphaned poor.

 

Champion Thou the forgotten lowly, 

And erase the wicked’s inequality,

Grant healing on the broken-hearted

And solace they may ever see.

 

Restore the victims of oppressors,

Grant recompense to those ostracized,

Let those neglected embraced rightly

And peace to their souls facilitated.

 

Your justice, Lord, us now sustains,

Your truth, eternally surging forth,

Thine anger’s blaze sated finally;

Thy faithfulness endures for evermore!

 

With Thee we’ll ever stand for justice,

Sounding praises to Thy holy name,

Thy word shall move our hearts to action

And expel the need of worldly fame.

God amongst war, Thy power we extol-

Thou art the source of peace, our refuge evermore-

Thou dost bring about a lasting peace, with the mere whisper of Thy staff-

Though nations arm and train and prepare for battle-

The Lord of Hosts stands firm, and no force can rattle-

Though swords be drawn and swords be sheathed-

Thou art one no force can seethe-

 

Though arrows fly and spears soar-

Thou dost remain our shelter and bolster-

Though men may fall and cities burn-

Our God is faithful, and will never turn-

Though war has come, and armies move-

Thou art the Lord of Peace, and nothing can ever disprove-

 

Though hate and fear spread like a plague-

Thou art our refuge, and our forever shield-

Though death may come, and life be taken-

Thou art the everlasting, and no force can break Thy Name-

Though suffering may come, and darkness reign-

Thou art the Light, and no force can ever contain-

Seven Skies

 

Seven Skies, an ode to the divine,

A dirge of eulogy to the great divine;

A prayer of thanks for the glory of the skies,

A song of appreciation for their beauty and size.

 

We lift our eyes to the heavens above,

Cloaked in the sapphire veil of love;

The stars, the moon, and the sun,

Guide us all in their heavenly run.

 

The ever-moving clouds of hues,

Dancing freely in all their blues;

The wind and rain, the snow and heat,

The storms and thunder, the sun and sleet.

 

The galaxies and stars, the planets and moons,

The comets, asteroids, and planets in their tunes;

The sun, the stars, and all of space,

The ethereal beauty of the seven skies we face.

 

The stars a-twinkle in their formations,

The planets and moons in their constellations;

The night sky a-shimmer with starlight,

The dawn sky ablaze in its twilight.

 

The endless sky, vast and wide,

The heavens above, so deep and high;

The sun and the moon, the stars and the day,

The beauty of the seven skies will stay.

 

The seven skies, a sight so grand,

A sight that no one can withstand;

The beauty of the heavens will never die,

For they will be here, in seven skies.
