A Multi-Guide on Farming, Mining, and Tile Types.

This guide will explain the various mechanics for farming, mining nodes, and the regional tile mechanics including the tile map, what each tile bonus effects, and how to locate the special tile nodes.

Farming

LotC uses only the basic vanilla minecraft crops for farming. Majority of Nations on the Server will have their own extensive farmlands which can be harvested without region permissions. All that is required is right-clicking with a hoe! The crops will automatically replant themselves.

How to Farm Effectively

When farming, using a hoe and right clicking the crops enables you to bypass region restrictions, whilst also auto-planting the crops in your wake. These hoes can be crafted at any crafting bench, using the relevant materials (wood, cobblestone, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite).

Mining

Warning: There is a cooldown period of 15 minutes before you can mine any node, after you either log onto the server or switch your persona.

Rather than strip-mining or exploring caverns, mines can be located either within or outside the majority of the Realms (nations), or on special tiles that have been purchased and have a ‘Tile Mine’ constructed upon them. These mines will feature special ‘nodes’ that look like normal minecraft ores, and can be harvested using a pickaxe and right clicking once.

Realm Mines - These mines hold a variety of nodes which range from coal to diamond depending upon the Realm. The Realms that own these mines can decide whether they are publically accessible, or if they require a fee etc. to access.

Tile Mines - These mines hold one type of node which ranges from coal to netherite depending upon the tile. The Realms that own these mines can decide whether they are publically accessible, or if they require a fee etc. to access. Rarer materials may be more closely guarded and restricted. Nodes inside Tile Mines have a cooldown of their own.

How to Mine Effectively

When mining, using a pickaxe and right-clicking the ores enables you to bypass region restrictions. These pickaxes can be crafted at any crafting bench, using the relevant materials (wood, cobblestone, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite). Once the node has been harvested, it will turn into bedrock and go on ‘cooldown’ until it is ready to be harvested again. This also consumes a portion of your pickaxe’s durability.

Tile Types

LotC’s map features a fully organised tile system through which Realms and Lairs can purchase neighbouring tiles and make use of their special bonuses. Each tile has a ‘bonus’ that can affect crops, cattle, or have mines constructed to harvest tile-specific ores:

Horse tile - Horses will have higher stats when they are bred on this tile.

Wheat Tile - Farming Wheat will result in higher yields on this tile.

Cow Tile - Higher rate of Animal Drops, and a 2x breeding chance are on this tile.

Ore Tile - A mine with the tile’s designated ore can be constructed on this tile.
