Shadow2k 501 Popular Post Share Posted December 23, 2023 [T3] CRAVEN’S BANE - ACTIVE A cowardly combatant is antithesis to what a Templar stands for. Their benefactor's ire towards the craven manifests through this ability, where, upon focusing on their inner courage, they may target a specific foe and pull them closer towards the fight. Spoiler MECHANICSThis ability requires [2] emotes to cast: The first emote has the Templar focus their anger upon a specific target within a 8 meter range, and the second emote sees them clench a fist aimed towards the target’s direction, as binds –which aesthetically are to the Templar’s discretion so long as it is composed of white fire– seizes the target and forces them half the distance back towards a Templar. This ability may be used 2 times per combat scenario, with a specific target only being able to be targeted once per combat scenario regardless of the amount of Templars. The Templar is able to move 4 blocks for both emotes of casting. REDLINES: - Target must be within line of sight. - As long as the target is within the 8 meter maximum range by the end of the second emote of casting, they may still be considered a target (meaning the target still applies as one even if beyond the 8 meters at the start of casting, or if the target moved outside the maximum range after the first emote of casting was done) - Pulling effect only works for targets up to the maximum size of a healthy Uruk (around 400 lbs). Anything above it in weight and larger (up to the maximum size of a healthy Olog, 920 lbs) will instead pull the Templar half the distance away towards the target. If the target is above the maximum size of a healthy Olog, the spell will not work, though one charge will still be taken from the maximum of 2. - The target is considered to be staggered (unable to move but can defend themselves) for one emote upon being pulled. This is to prevent them from simply running further and negating the purpose of this spell. The same applies to a Templar being pulled towards the target. - If the target is something that is flying, instead of pulling the Templar towards it or vice versa, it will instead pull it to slam towards the ground should it be within the range. This prohibits it from taking flight again for a total of 2 emotes, and will not stagger them, though it will prevent them from moving any more than 4 blocks for one emote upon being pulled. If it is larger than the maximum size of an healthy Uruk (as previously stated above) as well as flying, the spell will not work, but one use out of the total two for the spell will still be taken. - Should two Templars use this on the same target, or on each other at the same time, they will perform a contesting d20 with the higher roll being the cast that is successful. The one that isn’t will still retain the amount of charges for the spell before casting. - If you or your target is stuck in tanglefoot, it takes an extra emote of channeling to use the spell and get you or them forcibly pulled out, depending on their weight. - Cannot be used on objects. Notes: Got the inspiration for this spell after xMuted's dauntless charge. Whereas some magics like Paladin put emphasis on ranged capabilities in some of its aspects, Templarism will always be close and personal at its core, similar to a Khornate Berzerker. They want to get within melee range, they want to get in the thick of things. During a crp encounter I spent roughly 15 emotes chasing a darkspawn, always being 1 meter away, but being able to do nothing because both of us ran 8 meters and sacrificed an action emote in order to do so, before ending with me giving up. This isn't a spell designed to be able to automatically pull anyone no matter their distance, which is why its max range is limited to 8 meters. Its just to catch that one guy and have an opportunity to attack, or the guy that sticks in the back bowing everyone from the comfort of distance. This is also why a person can only be targeted once no matter the number of templars. While the idea of spamming this on an undead as they scream surrounded by 5 templars pulling them back is funny as hell, that'd never happen. You got one shot. Use it wisely. [T5] WILL MANIFEST - ACTIVE Malchediael’s Radiant Templars at their foundations are descendants who exert their strength of mind and spirit to produce tangible effects on the world around them. Their will made manifest, they are capable of bringing into existence their patron’s blessing for a more prolonged defensive role, to see the Templar through even in the maelstrom of combat. As a Templar’s only true ally in battle is their weapon, their Will Manifested will deem the Templar dishonorable should they disregard their first drawn weapon. Spoiler MECHANICS:This ability requires [3] emotes: The first emote has the Templar draw their bound weapon and raise it to their forehead in a salute. The second emote involves the Templar focusing on their inner courage. The third emote will entail the ivory flames from their bound weapon being channeled and distributed across their person at 3 chosen areas (out of a total described as head, body, each arm, and each leg), before taking up a form that reflects the Templar’s chosen aesthetic. This spell may be cast ONCE per combat scenario. The armor per piece, can withstand: 4 Minor Wounds: Scrapes, Bruises and Lacerations, with two minor wounds equating to one moderate. 2 Moderate Wounds: Broken Bones and Punctures. 0 Major Wounds: Impalement, Dismemberment and Mutilation. Should Will Manifest come in contact with a combative Voidal spell, the afflicted piece of armor will burst into harmless white wisps, reappearing after [3] turns with no durability loss, but the Voidal attack that dispelled it will carry onto the body of the Templar, similar to how a major wound functions with Will Manifest, if applicable. REDLINES: - The armor from Will Manifest, if targeting the head region, cannot cover the face of the Templar. - Armor from Will Manifest may only be repaired through a re-casting of the spell. - The spell will not work if the Templar doesn’t have Furious Flames active. - Same rules apply to Will Manifest as Furious Flames regarding the switching of weapons. - The spell remains active throughout a combat scenario, same as Furious Flames, unless destroyed. - An attack that would have dealt a major wound will completely ignore the integrity of the armor, dissipating the piece immediately and going through onto the Templar. - The Templar cannot move while casting the spell. - The Templar has creative freedom over the appearance of the armor from Will Manifest. - The spell does not work within proximity of a Voidal tear or Hollow. - Combative Voidal spells (including barriers) which make contact with Will Manifest will deactivate the armor for a total of [3] emotes before reactivating with no durability loss. - Will Manifest can stack on the armor the Templar is already wearing. - The armor from Will Manifest (depending on the chosen aesthetic) cannot obstruct the vision of the Templar nor their combatants. - The manifested armor cannot make the Templar larger than they are, excluding decorations like horns, or antlers, but said decorations aren’t a part of the actual armor, with attacks phasing through it. - As Will Manifested is an extension of a Templar's soul, when struck by Malflame, it affects the Templar as it would normally. Notes: We (Hugo and myself) wanted something worse than Bulwark but more long lasting, which led us to Will Manifest. We also wanted to further the use of the Templar's bound armament as a catalyst for more spells. The idea originally was a full suit of external armor with a set hit durability per wound type, though we scrapped that in favor of leaving some regions open and some protected. There's no room for major wounds because if you wish to block against powerful attacks, use bulwark. During the brainstorming and getting some thoughts from other people, one person suggested we don't have the armor stack with currently worn one, though we couldn't find a way of implementing that without making the spell useless. You will almost never find a templar without armor unless they occasionally walk into ambushes, and standard armor by reliability alone will always be better than this. This is meant to be an addon, not a replacement. Special thanks to @HugoAntero for brainstorming and writing these spells with me. Additional thanks to the templars and people we consulted for feedback (you know who you are but I'm too lazy to mention all of you)

ClassyDryad 1733 Share Posted December 23, 2023 Fill in those slots! (I am not a templar but I think a non-combative expansion would be welcome next, lest it quickly devolve into a paladin-like bloat.)
