Peace Prevents not Pestilence Listen up and gather around… In the aftermath of a devastating war, a hard-won peace deal promised the dawn of a new era, heralding an end to years of suffering and mass destruction. Yet, as the dust settled and the ink on the peace accord dried, an insidious foe continued to wreak havoc. A plague, birthed in the war's chaos, defied the promised prosperity of a newfound peace, spreading with relentless vigor. As it turns out, leaving thousands of bodies un-buried upon the battlefield is a poor idea. The conflict in question was a prolonged affair, marked by fierce battles, sieges, and blockades that decimated heartland populations and infrastructures alike. Amidst the turmoil, a virulent plague took root, initially confined to the overcrowded camps and trenches but soon spreading to civilian populations. As the war drew to a close, the belligerents reached a peace agreement, ostensibly turning a new leaf. Regardless, the legacy of the conflict, embodied by the relentless plague, lingered. Despite the cessation of hostilities, the plague's spread accelerated, fueled by the mass movements of demobilized soldiers and displaced civilians returning home. The war had ravaged the public health infrastructure, leaving small towns and villages ill-equipped to handle the burgeoning crisis. In the small heartlands towns, unmarked on most maps, the post-war period saw a spike in plague cases, overwhelming their already strained recovery efforts. The continued spread of the disease served as a grim reminder of the war's enduring impact, complicating the path to societal healing and reconstruction. One thing was clear, the plague may have borne from war, but it was now peace that would fuel its insidious spread. Or perhaps that's just the tale of a pauper bard… The bard coughed, small droplets of red staining his lute.
Baccaaa 61 Share Posted February 2 Regina is seemingly cheerful that the war has ceased, hopeful that the world is now on the way to recovery. Or is it? Time will tell...
Lord_of_losers 955 Share Posted February 2 A soul prepares attire for the creeping plague, preparing to offer what little help they can to the dying, the sick, and the needy. A long coat is buttoned, and a cape of waxy crow feathers is draped around their figure. Preparing, they create a lensed mask treated with alchemical sealants and tinctures. The boots and gloves they wear are fastened tight with twine. So comes The Doctor.
Turbo_Dog 1435 Share Posted February 2 (edited) The mouseman Spuds groaned knowing he’d be called a vermin and blamed by someone during this time period. He shut himself in his home and laid back on his horde and looking up at the ceiling, the thought gnawing at the back of his mind. He would ever be use to it no matter how many years went by. It still stung every time he was called such ‘vermin, rat, pest, creature’ it was all commonplace in his world. A world he hated to be in Edited February 2 by Turbo_Dog
