ORIGIN

 

There are many stories that disport the rise of werewolves, but it should be known that for all prevarications that are spread from huntsmen, to nature-goers, they can be known as only one thing: cursed.

 

Incipiently fathered to protect the gamut of nature, fauna, and flora by the patron Morea in the everglades, the loup-garou are also emblematic as the lycanthrope forsake their duties and fell to the rise and temptation of their powers. Insulted by this rebellion, the mani-spirit Morea repudiated their existence and left them cursed as feral-beasts in the wilderness, to stave off their senseless desire to feast.

 

Another yarn talks about a group of four descendants who travelled across the forest, needlessly hunting all animals, and wolves, in sight for game and sport. Morea took note of these vile huntsmen, and so cursed them to remain trapped in a wicked form of their own machinations: a blood-thirsty wolf incapable of sating their own hunger. This fortuitous process accidentally led to them becoming false guardians of the woods, but this was an unwilling process, and they could not know the difference between man or animal.

♛ Lycanthrope is considered a playable CA that needs to be posted in order to have.

♛ Lycanthrope is not locked behind any magic or group, and you can play one if transformed as long as you are a descendant with an unaltered soul which has no deific inclinations.

♛ You are able to get this playable CA if you have druidism, but this means you cannot have the [Feat] Shapeshifting, [Feat] Mani Summoning, [Feat] Sycophants of Boletius or [Feat] Transcendence due to the nature of the mani and its underlying effects as a curse. 

♛ If you are an existing [CA] Treelord, you are unable to be cursed with lycanthrope. If you are not a treelord, by getting this CA, you are barred from becoming a Treelord in the future.

♛ If you are an existing [CA] Epiphyte, you are unable to be cursed with lycanthrope. If you are not a Epiphyte, by getting this CA, you are barred from becoming an Epiphyte in the future.

♛ If you have an existing [CA] Klone, you are unable to be cursed with lycanthrope. If you are cursed with lycanthrope, you will be unable to apply for a Klone. 

♛ You are able to get this playable CA if you have voidal magic, but the downsides of this are listed in the mechanics section of the lore. 

 

 

 

CREATION

 

The loup-garou are cursed men who spread their vile imprecation from person to person. However, due to the rarity of their existence, it is sparse that any man should come across this beast, let alone be cursed by them.

 

An existing lycanthrope must bite the limb of an existing descendant without tearing said limb away from their body. If the descendant who has been bitten by the werewolf in question survives, they will eventually undergo a lengthy and painful process in which they become one of the loup-garou. 

 

It is rare that another transforms into a lycanthrope, for most do not survive the process of their hunt, and most descendants are killed and feasted on instead of being transformed. It is not in the nature of a lycanthrope to willingly curse another, as they would much rather prefer in devouring their victim. 

 

To those who are not descendants, they will find that the bite is ineffective, and they somehow remain in whatever wretched form they already exist in. 

 

REDLINES:

Spoiler

♛ This does not require an existing [TA] in order to complete. Any and all lycanthrope who has matured to their maximum tier [Curse III] is capable of spreading the Playable CA. 

♛ In roleplay, it does not make sense for a lycanthrope to allow whoever they are hunting to survive. Usually, a lycanthrope is made on accident should a descendant survive. This means that lycanthrope should not be given willingly, and should be viewed as a curse that is too irreverent to share.

♛ Once someone has been transformed into a werewolf, they are required to post a playable [CA] on the forums with a link from the werewolf who has bitten them. 

♛ You can only transform [1] player per [1] OOC month into a lycanthrope so as to not have too many of the playable CA. It is still a relatively open CA but this ensures that the CA is not spammed and maintains quality. 

♛ You must gather OOC consent from the lycanthrope in question before posting a [CA], as this stops unwanted players being transformed in the process, even if they do survive the bite. This redline is moreso to allow people to choose who they want to teach OOCly, but of course, this differs from RP. 

♛ Although the curse is transferred via a bite, it also leaves an imprint on the soul, which is further explained at the bottom in the afterlife section. 

 

CURSE / TIER 

 

The transformation to lycanthrope is not an instantaneous process, and it is a slow, arduous, and painful affliction that occurs overtime, as listed: 

 

♦ Curse I: This happens after just being inflicted. A lycan is unable to transform during this stage, but they will start to undergo the mental effects listed in the below section. Due to it being quite early into the curse, a lycan can still be cured from this (as written in the ‘cure’ section directly below this). 

♦ Curse II: After (2) OOC weeks, a lycan will undergo his first transformation. This is an extremely painful process as described in the ‘transformation’ section. During this period, they can only transform that [1] time. They are unable to be cured after having undergone their first transformation.

♦ Curse III: After (1) OOC month, a lycan will now be fully cursed with lycanthrope, and will follow all redlines and guidances listed below for transformation. They cannot be cured. 

 

CURE

 

A lycan can only be cured when they are at [Curse II] tier into lycanthrope, which is usually the affliction spreading across their body. This means that they only have (2) OOC weeks to be cured of the curse before it becomes permanent. 

 

BLIGHT HEALING: A group of [2] druids with an approved [Magic] Blight healing must use the [Cleansing] spell on the afflicted lycanthrope at [Curse I] tier in order to cure them. Once the roleplay for this has happened, an sreq must be made asking to deny their approved CA. 

 

SHAMANISM: A group of [2] shamans with an approved [Magic] Farseer must use [Blessing of Empowerment] and channel either Scorthuz or Akezo on the afflicted lycanthrope at [Curse I] tier in order to cure them.  Once the roleplay for this has happened, an sreq must be made asking to deny their approved CA. 

 

TEMPLARISM: If [1] templar with an approved [Magic] Templarism stabs the afflicted lycanthrope at [Curse I] with a lunarite blade doused by [Furious Flame], it will cure the lycan in question. Once the roleplay for this has happened, an sreq must be made asking to deny their approved CA. 

 

♛ As a general rule of thumb, this is something that should be discovered in roleplay without metagaming. For example, if someone knows they have been afflicted by lycanthrope and attempts to find someone to cure it, and they experiment in order to do this, it is fine. Eventually, this might become general knowledge. 

 

TRANSFORMATION

 

A lycanthrope will transform without acquiesce, and will have no control over their apparent transformation. This usually occurs during the night, which is acclimated as a hunting-tactic over the course of spreading the curse and has been inherently programmed in their body. Usually, transformation will begin for numerous reasons, as listed:

 

♦ They may transform due to sustaining too many injuries in their normal descendant form. 

♦ They may transform due to a perceived threat that they cannot handle in their normal form.

♦ They may transform if they have not staved their hunger. 

♦ They may transform if it is night-time and they wish to stave their hunger. 

♦ They may transform at the sight of raw flesh, meat, or fresh blood of a large quantity. 

 

Transformation is an extremely hideous, painful, and traumatising experience. The bones of the loup-garou will snap, break, grow, and rip through flesh as tufts of fur begin to cover its body, and claws ripping out from their fingertips. In the process of their transformation, their clothes are ripped apart. 

 

On top of this, a werewolf is unable to force a criteria. You cannot purposely stab yourself and incur too many injuries to transform, nor are you allowed to purposely starve yourself to the point you are required to transform. Raw flesh, meat and blood needs to be of a reasonable quantity. You cannot prick your finger and see some fresh blood and decide to transform, or a small slab of meat. A cursed man would not want this for themselves, and they do not want to transform, and would rather avoid it due to how painful and traumatic the experience is. Furthermore, seers have tenants whereby you cannot attack another seer, but due to the fact that transformation is an unwilling process and it is not something that they do with any control, if a lycan that is a seer attacks another seer, this does not break the tenant, as it is not their conscious mind choosing to do this.

 

Transformation takes [2] emote to start and complete, and will immediate start a combat encounter due to the nature of lycanthropy. In the transformation emote, it should describe the excruciating process of turning into a lycan, the loss of self (monsterization), and it must be a detailed emote that draws the image on what is happening. An example of this is given below.

 

[Emote Example 1] The knight, clad in plates of armour, screams violently in horrific pain as his bones start to twitch, croak, and snap, forcing the man onto the ground. A severe colic ripped across the legs of the cursed human, as his spine began to lurch and grow in length and knots, and his feet started to twist from near the ankle into something bipedal. In the process of the transformation, the knight raises his right arm to guard himself from the incoming longsword that attempts to strike him, impaling through his flesh.

 

[Emote Example 2] To those who could observe, they would see a rise in muscle-mass, as their plates of armour were untimely rend from the body of the man. Gnarly saliva dripped from an elongated snout that flourished from the mans' skull, as a tuft of hair mysteriously started to shred out from the body of the man. Almond-shaped eyes with a glint of crimson stared out mindlessly towards the adjacent person, as the furred werewolf stands on two limbs, its claw growing out from each finger. Blood undulate from the wound incurred by the longsword strike during the transformation.

 

REDLINES:

Spoiler

♛ You can only transform [4] times per [1] OOC week. This transformation will last the entire encounter. 

♛ Transformation takes [2] to complete in full. During these transformation emote, it should be clarified the visible change on the person (i.e. turning into a wolf), the loss of property, and loss of self (turning into a monster). They can still be attacked in the process of the transformation, but this will never stop the transformation in full, and the lycan may still be able to defend themselves whilst transforming (such as raising an arm to guard themselves whilst their body shifts, dampening the attack, but not entirely blocking it or avoiding it).

♛ When transformation has been completed, all items on the person will vanish and then return once transformation reverts back to their descendant self.

♛ You should have an actual reason to transform, but in roleplay, it should not be something that happens due to wanting to do it. It usually happens as a fight-or-flight process, to stave their hunger, due to it being night-time (allows easier hunting), or at the sight of raw flesh, meat, and fresh blood.

♛ Although these are some of the examples of why they may transform, there can be other reasons on top of this. It is not a requirement that they transform at night, such as if they are so injured in their descendant form, and they have to transform in order to escape or to fight back with more strength. 

♛ As stated previously and explained below, transformation is not a consensual process and it is very traumatic for the person. This will follow good-faith and should meet a certain criteria as listed above, and cannot be heavily abused. As per the lore, if you have already transformed or used transformation [4] times in [1] OOC week, you cannot transform again, with that one OOC week starting from the day of said transformation.

♛ MARTs are unable to EVER SUPERCEDE the ability to transform at WILL. This is a CURSE and ST should not be approving MARTs that allow bending of core lore such as this. 

♛ You cannot carry over any buffs or enhancements in your descendant form to your lycanthrope form.

♛ Lore important items such as MArts, Momento Mori, and Grimoires should still be on the person of the lycan in their lycan form.

 

RETURNING TO NORMAL

 

A lycanthrope will start to turn back into their descendant self for many reasons, but in similar breadth, they cannot transform back to normal on demand, and this usually happens for a set amount of reasons. An example of a few reasons include: 

 

♦ They may transform back to normal after finishing their hunt (no longer starving for meat or flesh).

♦ They may transform back to normal if they are too injured to sustain themselves (this usually means being unable to fight back. For example, missing limbs, blood-loss, and so on). 

 

When transforming back to their normal self, it is in similar comparison to turning into a lycanthrope: painful, unbearable, and harrowing to both their physical and mental state. After turning back into their descendant self, the cursed-man in question will be too tired to do anything: they will feel sluggish, unable to walk around properly (limping) and will feel the need to rest. Furthermore, they will be mentally scarred (this is explained further below in the mentality section). The lycan will magically have their clothes return, usually created by a thicket of fur. 

 

CONSUMPTION:

♦ Finishing their hunt is classified as no longer being 'starved', which is usually when a lycanthrope has consumed: two limbs worth of flesh and meat, both at the size of an arm.

 

REDLINES:

Spoiler

♛ A lycanthrope will transform back to their normal self only for three reasons: they have finished their hunt (killed whatever or whoever in the encounter, or if the person has fled to the point you can no longer give chase), or if they are too injured to stay awake (loss of limbs, blood loss, exhaustion). 

♛ The mechanics of exhaustion, blood loss, and loss of limbs will be explained below and will help give guidelines for the lycanthrope in question.

♛ You should immediately roleplay transforming back to normal when the above requirements are met. If you decide to not transform back to normal, this is considered breaking redlines. For example, some people may choose not to transform back to normal as they can see people spectating in the distance and feel they might get metagamed. This is the fault of the lycanthrope for getting caught.

♛ Please do not roleplay being butt-naked when you return to your descendant self as to avoid catching a ban for sexualised behaviour. 

♛ Upon death, a lycanthrope will return to their descendant form and be a normal descendant corpse.

 

 

 

PHYSICALITY & MECHANICS

WEREWOLF FORM

 

When they have undergone their transformation, a lycanthrope is considered to be an extremely hideous, gnarly, and deformed creature that fails in resembling a typical lycan or wolf. Usually, a lycan will grow by [1-2 feet] in length, stopping in growth at [8ft] in height.

 

They have bipedal legs that allow for more mobility, as will be explained in the mechanics, and their body is covered by a tuft of hair or fur. It is normal for a lycan to have the same hue of hair as their descendant self, outside of outlandish colours. Ordinarily, they are restricted to: greys, blacks, whites, and browns. This broad fleece of fur acts as their only defence, as they are unable to wear anything else. 

 

A werewolf will have trenchant pointed ears and a wide snout besmirched in sharp jagged canines that grant them access to efficiently tear through flesh, crunch on bones, and bite through leather. The lycanthrope will stand as most descendants do, but they can also take a four-legged approach in order to move quicker. 

 

LEATHER HIDE: Their body is covered in a thick layer of fur that is as durable as leather hide. This still means that slashing and blunt weapons are still able to harm them. 

 

CLAW TENSILITY: They have claws that are as sharp and as strong as steel blades. However, they are comparable to the size of daggers, thus meaning a lycan must get very up-close before being able to land any strikes, lacking the same range as longswords, shortswords or spears.

 

TWO LEGS: When standing on both of their legs, a lycan is able to move up to [4] blocks per emote in combat when doing an action relevant to combat. They can move [8] blocks per emote in combat when solely focused on sprinting. 

 

FOUR LEGS: When both hands are placed on the ground, a lycan is able to move up to [10] blocks per emote in combat when solely focusing on sprinting. They are unable to attack when in this form. It takes [2] emote to go from two-legs to four-legs, and their movement can count in the second [2] emote. 

 

MUSCULARITY: As a lycan, they are granted peak human strength. If the lycan in question has voidal magic or sorcery, they will find that this curse transfers over, and that they only have as much strength as an elderly human. Orks who are lycans maintain their orcish strength.

 

HEIGHTENED SENSES: If in an open area with no locked doors, walls, or places to take cover, a lycan will be able to tell where someone is on the field (not who, just that someone is there). This subverts the ability to attempt sneak-attacks from behind the lycan. Of course, this does not mean that the lycan in question is able to protect their front and their back at once, but they will be aware that someone is approaching them from behind. This follows normal #rp range.

 

BITING FORCE: A lycan will have enough biting force to be able to break bones easily, or tear through flesh, and to be able to puncture through armour at the same tensility as leather. However, they will be unable to break through platemail, or anything as strong as iron-plates that are worn by people. 

 

REDLINES:

Spoiler

♛ Their fur covers the whole of their body, and is at the durability of leather. This still allows piercing weapons and blunt-force trauma to still go through their thicket of fur. 

♛ A lycan has steel-like nails that work in similar regard to carrying steel daggers; they are around 7 inches in length. This means that a lycan must get up close to their enemy in order to strike, as they will lack the same versatility and range as a normal person wielding a shortsword, longsword, or spear.

♛ In their two legged form, the lycan follows conventional combat CRP movement rules as listed in the section.

♛ In their four legged form, the lycan follows the conventional combat CRP movement rules when mounted, with the caveat being that they cannot attack during this form. It takes [1] emote to get onto their four legged form, and they can include the movement in the same emote. To return to their two-legged form, it requires [1] emote, but they cannot attack in this same emote.

♛ A lycan has peak human strength, comparable to a human body-builder at their peak age. However, if the lycan in question has voidal magic or sorcery, their strength remains capped to an elderly human, meaning they are quite weak physically. Of course, voidal scions' supersede this ability, and will be locked to peak human strength in lycan form. A lycan who is an orc will maintain their orcish strength in lycan form.

♛ Heightened senses only allows for the lycan to have a sort of sixth sense, being able to sense that someone is behind them. However, this does not mean they will know if the person behind them is attacking them, or what attack they are doing, just simply that someone is behind them. Of course, this does not apply if the person is hiding behind something [a tree, a wall, a door] or is actively Invisible.  The range for heightened sense is normal #rp range.

♛ A lycan is able to bite down and tear through flesh and bone with ease, and can also puncture through armour at the durability of leather. However, they cannot break through anything above this, and it is most likely that the lycan in question will shatter their teeth if they attempt to do so. 

♛ You are unable to wear any armour whilst transformed as a werewolf, or wield any weapons, or use any throwing or ranged weaponry such as throwing potions.

 

Although filled with great many benefits to allow survivability in their hunts, a lycan is also able to be quickly dealt with by being well-equipped. 

 

PIERCING WEAPONS: Due to having leather-hide durability, most piercing, slashing blades and projectiles are able to puncture through their hide. 

 

BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA: A lycan still has the same bone durability as a normal descendant. Due to their fur being quite thin, and with leather being paltry in catching blunt impact, this means that strikes from hammers, warhammers, and other weapons will still carry all the force of their weapon onto the lycan, most likely breaking bones. 

 

LUNARITE: A lycanthrope is extremely weak to lunarite. Any weapon that is made of lunarite is able to completely ignore their leather-hide durability fur. Lunarite will impale them in similar comparison to stabbing a steel blade into normal flesh. It will also cause a violent burning effect wherever impaled, causing the lycan visceral amounts of pain. Any wound caused by lunarite cannot be naturally regenerated through their heightened regeneration. This only applies for weapons made purely of lunarite, with no alloys (steel-lunarite, carbarum-lunarite). 

 

AURUM / SLAYERSTEEL: Though not to the same extent as lunarite, aurum and slayersteel is considered to be somewhat potent. It will not ignore through their leather-hide, but successfully impaling a lycan with aurum or slayersteel will cause them to have a similar burning effect to lunarite, albeit to a more bearable confine.

 

TEMPLARISM / HOLY MAGIC: Any holy-magic, or templarism spells, that grant the same properties as aurum is used against the lycanthrope in question, it will do as the above ‘aurum/slayersteel’ section is written. If a lunarite weapon is doused by [Furious Flame] from an approved user of [MA] Templarism, the properties are heightened, the lycanthrope can be impaled as though stabbing a knife through melted butter. 

 

THANHIUM: A lycan that is impaled by thanhium will find that their strength is capped to an average human strength instead of peak human strength (from a body-builder to an average middle-aged adult). If the lycan in question is a voidal mage, they will still be at elderly human strength. Thanhium does not revert them back to their descendant self. 

 

SMELLING SALTS / OVERPOWERING SMELL: Strong smelling salts that are brought to the battlefield will cause their heightened senses to no longer be in effect, as their stench will be masked by the powerful aroma of the smelling salt. Other forms of strong smelling herbs that are doused on a person can mask their smell also. 

 

MAGIC / SORCERY: If the lycan in question has any sorcery in their descendant form, they will be unable to use it in their lycan form. 

 

BLIGHT HEALING: If the lycan in question is touched by any blight-healing spell, although there will be no visible effects or signs of change, when the lycan transforms back to normal, they will be locked to only [2] transformations per [1] OOC weeks instead. This will return to [4] transformations per [1] OOC weeks once the week has ended.

 

FAE CREATURES: All fae creatures, the fae wilds, or anything related to faeries, will see the lycan as a detestable existence and will either not want to be near or around them, or seek to destroy the lycan in question. This heavily applies during events for any ST using fae-creatures.

 

FLAMMABLE: Due to having a thicket of fur, a lycan is extremely flammable. If they do not pat out any fire on them in [1] emote, it will spread across their body quickly. 

 

LOSS OF BLOOD: A werewolf that bleeds out, either due to loss of limb, or having incurred too many injuries, will instantly transform back to normal. This should be a common-sense clause and it should be known when there has been too much blood loss or injuries. 

 

COMMUNION: Any druid who attempts to commune or speak to a transformed werewolf will find the lycan mumbling incoherent words that do not make sense, violent words, usually in a raucous, gravelly tone. This causes abilities like 'Pacify' to not work on werewolves. This voice is not similar to their descendant self and cannot be used to metagame the lycanthrope. In the presence of a lycan, most wildlife will either flee, or feel desperate discomfort and wish to withdraw from the scene.

 

REDLINES:

Spoiler

♛ As stated previously, most piercing and slashing weapons will be able to go through the tuft and fur of the lycanthrope in question. The only time this will not work is if people are using weapons that are at the durability of wood, such as wooden spears or swords.

♛ As stated previously, most blunt force weapons will be able to go through the tuft and fur of the lycanthrope. It may not cause damage to flesh, but it will break bones, cartilage, and could also impact organs depending on the area struck. The only time this will not work is if the people who are swinging are at elderly-human strength.

♛ Lunarite is considered the bane of lycanthrope. If a lunarite weapon pierces a lycanthrope, they will stop whatever they are doing (i.e. if they are about to attack), and will feel a burning sensation rip across the wound and their whole body, with a visible tell such as smoke wafting out from the injury. Any injury afflicted by lunarite cannot be healed by their heightened regeneration, which is written below in the descendant form section. Furthermore, lunarite will ignore the leather-hide durability, and will impale them as if one would attempt to stab into an unarmoured person.

♛ This only applies if the weapon is purely made of lunarite. If a weapon is a mixture between two metals, or an alloy, such as lunarite and steel, this will not work. 

♛ Any weapon that is a mixture of lunarite and aurum will lessen the effect of the lunarite, and will simply follow the aurum-effects listed in the above section.

♛ Aurum is considered another effective tool (including slayersteel) to combat a lycanthrope. Although it does not ignore their leather-hide durability, it will still cause a burning sensation with a visible tell such as a line of smoke escaping out from the injury. This can still be healed using their heightened regeneration. 

♛ Any holy magic that bears the properties of aurum follows the same redlines as written for aurum.

♛ Templarism is an effective holy magic in battling and hunting lycanthrope. Stand alone, the [Furious Flame] ability will work on par with normal aurum. However, if the templar in question uses [Furious Flame] whilst wielding a purely-lunarite weapon, it will exemplify the properties of the lunarite to an extreme extent. If a lycan is stabbed by this, they will be unable to attack for [1] emote due to the pain they feel (they can still move), and stabbing through their flesh and bones will be akin to a knife going through melted butter. 

♛ A lycan who is stabbed by a lunarite blade with [Furious Flame] will also be filled by a sense of dread, and they will instantly attempt to flee. 

♛ If a lycan is stabbed by a thanhium weapon once, for the entire of the combat encounter, their strength is locked to an average humans strength. If a lycan who is a voidal mage is stabbed by thanhium, they will feel nauseated, but this will not hinder their senses or ability to fight, and they will still be capped at elderly human strength.

♛ Any alchemical smelling salts, or lore-approved herbs that are written to have a foul or extremely strong scent, is brought into the battlefield, it will stop the lycan in question from being able to use their heightened senses. 

♛ A lycan who has any sort of magic in their descendant form, they will be unable to cast it in their lycan form. 

♛ If a blight healing spell is cast onto a lycanthrope, although this will do nothing during the actual combat encounter, once the lycanthrope has transformed back into their descendant form, they will be locked to [2] transformations per [1] OOC week. Once the [1] OOC week has gone by, the lycan will revert back to the usual [4] transformations per [1] OOC week. 

♛ Although blight-healing spells are all considered non-combat, they can be used in combat against a lycanthrope.

♛ During or outside of events, a lycan must make sure to properly emote that any fae-creatures in the presence will be horrified by the existence of said werewolf. 

♛ Their fur is flammable, and requires [1] focused emote to pat out without any movement or action. If they decide not to pat out the flame, every [1] emote, the degree of the burn will increase. After [6] emotes, the lycan will be fully consumed in flames and most likely be dead. 

♛ A feat-level seer is still able to see even without their blindfold in lycan form, with the aesthetic replacement of the blindfold being a tuft of fur covering the eyes of the werewolf in question, making it look even more grotesque and horrifying. A magic-level seer can simply roleplay the eyes of the lycan being hazed and white.

♛ A LYCAN WOULD BE ADVERSE TO PARTAKING IN MANI SUMMONING AND WOULD FEEL TRAUMATISED.

 

PHYSICALITY & MECHANICS

DESCENDANT FORM

 

In their descendant form, a lycanthrope will still have unusual features that puts them out of the norm of any regular descendant. Usually, they are indistinguishable from any regular person, and will seem ordinary to their eyes. However, their physicality does change and improve. If a lycan has sorcery, they can use this in their descendant form as normal. 

 

MUSCULARITY: A lycan will always be at their peak physique in their descendant form. However, this does not apply to those whose sorcery afflicts physical weakness, such as voidal magic.

 

HEIGHTENED REGENERATION: Over the course of [1] OOC day, any small wounds, scratches, and cuts will be healed, but this will leave visible scars in the place of injury. As long as a medium wound has been properly treated, it will be healed over the course of [3] OOC days, and this will also leave a visible scar in place of injury. Heightened regeneration does not allow the ability to heal loss of limb.

> Small wounds: Cuts, scratches, nips, scabs, slash injuries that do not penetrate muscle. 

> Medium wounds: Deep cuts, deep slash injuries that penetrate muscles, and stab injuries where an organ has been punctured (if they have not died for some reason from bleeding out). 

 

HEIGHTENED SENSES: A lycan will still have their heightened senses in their descendant form, which stops them from being sneak-attacked, as they usually can tell there is something that is behind them. As written previously: if in an open area with no locked doors, walls, or places to take cover, a lycan in their descendant form will be able to tell where someone is on the field (not who, just that someone is there). This subverts the ability to attempt sneak-attacks from behind the cursed man. Of course, this does not mean that the lycan in question is able to protect their front and their back at once, but they will be aware that someone is approaching them from behind. 

 

HAIR GROWTH: A descendant who has been cursed by lycanthrope will become extremely hairy. This can either be growth of longer head-hair, or growth of facial hair, arm hair, and so on. Please do not roleplay something explicit or sexualised, such as a hairy chested man.

 

REDLINES:

♛ In their descendant form, a werewolf will always be at their peak physique, and do not need to exercise in order to maintain this. However, they still require to have a good diet and to eat regularly or else they can still become skinny and frail. 

♛ Their physique remains the same and follows all redlines if they have a sorcery / approved magic application, such as voidal magic. This curse does not supersede this.

♛ In their descendant form, a werewolf will have heightened regeneration. As clarified, all small wounds heal over a period of [1] OOC day, and all medium wounds heal over [3] OOC day. It should be noted that if someone has had a punctured organ, it is still likely that they may die from blood loss or organ failure, but if they are somehow treated before this to not do so, the injury will heal. If an organ has been completely damaged without repair, it cannot be healed. On top of this, they cannot use their heightened regeneration to repair eyesight. This is only outside of combat, and heightened regeneration cannot be used in combat.

♛ They cannot regenerate loss of limbs. This can be accomplished through other means, such as alchemy or magic that allows regrowth of limbs. 

♛ Heightened senses only allows for the lycan to have a sort of sixth sense, being able to sense that someone is behind them. However, this does not mean they will know if the person behind them is attacking them, or what attack they are doing, just simply that someone is behind them. Of course, this does not apply if the person is hiding behind something [a tree, a wall, a door] or is actively Invisible. The range of this is #rp range.

♛ Hair growth is just an aesthetic flare. A female descendant does not need to grow facial hair or bodily hair, but could have longer hair on their scalp as an example. 

 

In spite of the fact the lycan is in their descendant form, they still have noticeable weaknesses that do transfer over.

 

LUNARITE: A lycan in their descendant form who has been impaled by lunarite, with lunarite touching or coming into contact with their blood, will feel an extremely painful sensation rip across their injury. This does not heal from their heightened regeneration. Usually, the effects of lunarite is amplified in their lycan form, and is lesser in their descendant form. There is no visible tell from the injury, but as long as the lunarite comes into contact with their blood, they will feel excruciating agony rip across the injury.

 

TRANSFER OF INJURY: A lycan who has been injured in their transformed state will pass on all injuries onto their descendant form, which includes loss of limb. For example, if a lycan has lost their right-leg in their transformed state, they will not have their right-leg in their human form. 

 

PROSTHETIC LIMBS: A lycan who has a prosthetic limb in their descendant form will not be able to transfer this over to their werewolf form. In other words, if a cursed-man has a prosthetic automaton right-arm, if they transform into a werewolf, they will not have that prosthetic in their werewolf form (i.e. will still have a missing arm). Both forms share injuries, lack of limbs, and so on.

 

RAW MEAT: A werewolf in their descendant form will find that digesting any cooked meat will feel repulsing and unnatural to them. They can still feign eating the cooked meat, and may even feel satisfied by this, but they will still have a yearning to eat any raw meat from an animal, or a person. This can be moderated, and does not mean the descendant has to become a cannibal. 

 

INTOXICATION: A lycan in their descendant form will find that most intoxicants, such as alcohol, or illicit substances, will not be nearly as effective as they once were. While there's some minor mental reprieve from intoxication, a lycan would find all adverse effects of substances heightened

 

DISEASES & OLD AGE: A lycan is still prone to all normal diseases that can harm a normal descendant, their immune system only battles any diseases they get from eating raw meat to stop them from dying (i.e. allows them to survive from consuming raw meat). Furthermore, a lycan can still die from old age, shock, or anything else. 

 

FAE CREATURES: All fae-wild creatures who come across a lycan in descendant form will no longer feel repulsed, but they will still have this etching sensation to not trust the descendant in question. This comes as a gut feeling, but cannot be used to metagame the fact that the descendant is a lycan. This feeling of untrust does not mean the fae-creature will dislike or flee from the descendant, but that they are simply an untrustworthy individual. This does not force hostility. 

 

 

REDLINES:

♛ Lunarite does not have the same horrifying effects as it would on their lycan form. However, lunarite is still harmful to a cursed man in their descendant form. Usually, lunarite will cause a burning sensation wherever it nips or touches blood. If the blade does not touch blood, for example, a cut, it will not have any variable effects. Once the lunarite weapon touches blood in their descendant form, their limb will feel like it has been constricted for as long as the blade remains touching with the limb and blood, and a painful sensation will rip across the injury that is unbearable. There is no visible tell such as smoke, but their reaction will be much more exaggerated than any normal person being touched by lunarite. 

♛ When returning to their descendant form, all injuries they have gathered in their lycan form will be transferred over. This includes slashes, stab wounds, loss of blood, punctured organs, and loss of limbs. In the same breadth, any injuries in their descendant form will transfer over to their lycan form. 

♛ An example of this: if someone has lost their hand in a fight during their descendant form, in their lycan form, the werewolf will be missing a hand. 

♛ If a lycan in their descendant form has a prosthetic limb, this will not transfer over to their werewolf form. The prosthetic will simply fall onto the ground and the limb that was originally missing will remain missing in their werewolf form. This also means any augments done on their descendant form will not transfer to their werewolf form. 

♛ If a lycan in their descendant form gets said missing limb healed via other magical means, then this will also regrow in their werewolf form.

♛ A lycan will be able to feast on raw meat in their descendant form without any issues. This means they will not contaminate their body with any illness or sickness, and it will sate their hunger. They may still eat cooked meats, but this will taste awful. They can still survive and surfeit their hunger with cooked meats. Vegan diets, such as vegetables and fruits, will taste the same, but will keep them hungry.

♛ A lycan in their descendant form is no longer able to be intoxicated. Alcohol will taste the same, but it will not get them intoxicated as easily, and all 'positive' effects of substances will be greatly reduced.  However, medication and herbs to battle illnesses still remain effective.

♛ If a lycan in their descendant form has drank an alchemical potion, it will still work. However, once they have transformed into their werewolf form, the lycan in question will lose all effects from the potion. 

♛ All normal diseases and magical diseases still inflict the lycan in question, and they can still die from this. Their immune system remains the same as any normal descendant.

♛ A lycan will still have the same lifespan as any normal descendant. They can still die from old age. 

♛ Fae creatures will see the lycan in their descendant form as an untrustworthy person, and this will only come as a gut feeling. They do not have to dislike the lycan, nor do they have to avoid or flee from the lycan in their descendant form, but they will have this feeling that they are not trustworthy. However, this cannot be used to metagame the werewolf in question. 

♛ A LYCAN WOULD BE ADVERSE TO PARTAKING IN MANI SUMMONING AND WOULD FEEL TRAUMATISED.

♛ A druid lycan would be adverse to travelling to the Fae Realm in any capacity and would feel traumatized. Being within a Fae Ring would make them feel on edge, uncomfortable and or unease due to the connection to the Fae Realm.

MENTALITY

A Derelict Man

 

Lycanthropy is a curse; it comes with a burden of truth and an affinity to mental degradation from being part-man and part-monster. In their lycanthrope form, a werewolf is known for being cruel, and feral - an unthinking, unconscious creature that does not understand between friend, family, or foe. A werewolf would feast on the flesh of their own mother, should it be able to stop their craving for flesh and meat. Usually, a werewolf is considered an uncomplex monster; they survive on instinct, they are natural predators and hunt on weaker prey, but they find a certain taste from flesh, something deprived by the curse of the patron-mani Morea who originally did this for the sake of guarding the shrubs of each forest, but this is no longer applicable.

 

However, a lycanthrope in their descendant form holds a complex mind with a labyrinth of cognitive emotions bedlam from their curse, as listed below:

 

POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER: A lycanthrope will be easily frightened or startled when coming into sight with their own reflection. They will feel it is necessary to avoid going into line of sight with their own reflection due to the nature of their curse dysmorphic of their werewolf state cast into each and every mirror or clear translucent water they infringe upon. On top of this, they will always feel on guard, and the slightest tense of danger may kick in a fight-or-flight reaction that causes them to sprint out of the room, or attempt to charge towards the danger.  

 

BODY DYSMORPHIC DISORDER: A lycanthrope will hate their own appearance, and will feel repulsed or sick when thinking about the flaws of their appearance. Even if a descendant is extremely handsome or beautiful, due to their monster-esque nature, they will feel as though their body has a certain hideousness that others cannot see, and will become hyper fixated on it - this can come in various ways, either by covering their face, by spending hours on their choice of clothes, and so on.

 

AUDITORY HALLUCINATIONS: A lycanthrope will hear a plethora of sounds throughout the day, or may mistake other sounds for things. Usually, the source of this comes from their post traumatic stress disorder. One of the pertinent traits of auditory hallucination that is spoken about is hearing low growls, hearing twigs twitch in areas without any sound, or hearing distant howls in areas without any fauna. 

 

VISUAL HALLUCINATIONS: A lycanthrope may suffer from visual hallucinations that is sourced from their lack of sleep as written below. They may see the faces of the people they had killed in each ordinary object, or see their own werewolf-state peaking across distant hallways or treelines. 

 

CHRONIC INSOMNIA: A lycanthrope will be unable to sleep properly during the night, as it is usually a common occurrence for when a lycanthrope transforms from man to beast. They will suffer from nightmares that throw them awake, usually replaying what they did in their lycanthrope form, such as the murder of people, or the slaughter of animals. 

 

INTERMITTENT EXPLOSIVE DISORDER: A lycanthrope may be prone to violent bouts of verbal or physical rage uncontrollably, normally against themselves or others. This can come from an exemplified desire to keep people away from them due to feeling they may be put in danger, or feeling rage at oneself in order to control how they feel.  Usually, “the reaction is too extreme for the situation”.

 

LUPOPHOBIA: A lycanthrope is fearful of wolves, originally bestowed this fear by Morea due to wanting the first of the cursed-man to avoid hunting wolves, as Mani of Wolves. This also draws from a fear of their own transformed form. It is something they can never accept, and some may disillusion themselves in order to keep a hair's width of their sanity. 

 

All of these mental effects are relevant and should be roleplayed appropriately. You should not be role playing werewolves as something that is wanted, it is a curse that has negative implications and it would most likely be something you actively try and find a cure for due to its negative occurrences and ruining of social life. 

 

 

AFTERLIFE

The Eternal Forest

 

The eternal forest is considered home to the Mani, the fae spirits, and the druids who pass on in the living world. 

 

Due to the nature of this curse, there is a question on where the lycanthrope in question goes, and if they can return: if they are claimed by the Patron Mani of Wolves, Morea, or relieved of their curse. 

 

DRUIDS W/ LYCANTHROPE: A druid with lycanthrope will be returned to the eternal forest, and will rest in the habitable zone and territory of Morea, acting as their guardian in the afterlife, and relieved from the incessant curse of hunger, forgiven in death. 

 

DESCENDANT W/ LYCANTHROPE: A descendant with lycanthrope will not be returned to the eternal forest. Human, elves, orcs, and dwarves, however, may be claimed by Morea into the eternal forest and allowed to rest in his territory.

 

Although claimed by Morea in spirit, a descendant soul with lycanthrope can still be ripped out from their afterlife and returned to the living world.

 

♛ If a lycanthrope dies in combat or in an event, and chooses not to PK, they will be returned by the monks and the curse of lycanthrope will remain. Afterlife only applies to PKs. 

 

♛ You cannot become a [CA] Machine Spirit if you die with this curse, as the the Daemon of Craftsmanship would not wrench free a soul from the Aspects realm. This still applies for human descendants who go to the Seven Skies to keep consistency or any other afterlife. 

 

♛ Alternatively, you cannot apply to be a [CA] Ghost, as your soul would be forcefully passed on in death, claimed by Morea.

 

♛ You may still become the following: [CA] Ghoul, [CA] Darkstalker, or [CA] Draugr. This is because current necromancy lore allows a necromancer to rip a soul out from the eternal forest and bring them back to death (i.e. druids can still be raised from the dead). Of course, the curse of lycanthrope is no longer applicable if they are returned as an undead. If a lycanthrope with druidism is returned as a draugr, they will no longer have druidism as it is not compatible as per regular necromancy redlines. 

 

♛ Any other lore with deific influences will supersede the eternal-forest afterlife as aengudaemon power will always be more influential than that of a patron. This is also because Morea does not have the power to touch the soul stream or rip souls from the soul stream.

Please read below for the purpose of lore and references used in order to help write this lore.

 

 PURPOSE

 

This lore was created with the intention of returning the werewolf niche to the server. I did not wish to step on the toes of the vargr community and their lore, especially due to it being denied and barred from being reintroduced. This lore draws a lot on the old druidic lore that introduced lycanthrope via a mani-patron by the name of Morea, who is still a relevant lore piece today and used in druidic culture. 

 

Although the nature of the writing has a lot of druidic influences, this playable CA is supposed to act as a traditional source of werewolfism without having to be: a druid. It is a locked playable CA that can be given to any ordinary person, and does not mean you have to become a druid, be introduced to druid culture, or even do anything druidy. For example, you can be a human knight who is afflicted by lycanthrope, or an elven voidal-mage who is also afflicted by lycanthrope. 

 

The reason ferals were denied beforehand is due to it having some unsavoury players, and also because they became furry head-patt roleplay. I have written this lore in a way that it introduces lycanthrope as what it is: a heinous curse that cannot be superseded by cute furry RP and remains as a curse. A curse will have more downsides than good, because it is not meant to be a combat CA, but a cool roleplay flare to add onto your story.

 

If this is approved, I am going to be looking for grand-fathers. Big if on the approval. Wrote this for fun on the side cus I haven't written in a while.
